In light of today's sad news, I'm wondering if there is any chance that anybody has got any footage from the days of Ronnie Clayton? I know it's a bit unlikely, but it's an era of the club I'd love to see a glimpse of.

Just heard on Radio Lancs - gutted. An Ewood legend through and through, and a true member if the Rovers family. I grew up on tales of Ronnie Clayton and Bryan Douglas, and the both of them have been constants throughout my 28 years of going to Ewood.
A sad day indeed, hope there's at least a minutes silence tomorrow.
Rovers TV are usually pretty good at putting tributes together, just hope they have the time before kick off tomorrow.

Radio Lancs will be having a mini tribute to him on the Sport show tonight- just started.
-
Sad news, true Rovers man.
A few weeks back a couple of videos of him and Dougie were posted, holding court in the Nuttall Street. Part of the very fabric of the club.
Proper player, proper fan, proper fella.

West Ham home, October 1993, a young Mattyblue was mascot.
2-0 defeat, that Lee Chapman had me crying all over my signed shirt.
-
Queued up in the early hours for a ticket, my mate was about 20 people behind me- they sold out before he got to the counter!
What a day, went with the Des & Phil 007 Darwen Blues bus. Think we stopped in Ormskirk on the way down, the tension was unbearable in the boozers.
On the ground, constant rumours went up 'Andy Cole's missed a penalty' 'West Ham are down to 10 men' all rollocks of course!
To see the tears of the grown men around me will stay with me forever, as will the reception all the coaches got when they returned to Ewood, streets were packed!
Think I was a little too young to truly appreciate it and I think we all expected more success.
But still, the greatest day.

The fukwit said exactly the same sort of things in our favour when we signed him. I know it's been repeated time and time again but anyone who thinks virtually all footballers aren't a bunch of overpaid, brain dead, mercenaries needs their head examining. Goodbye and good riddance. For the comments I've just made you can perm any 99 out of 100 footballers.
If only they were all like Ronnie and Bryan!
Ive said it many times, I just look to players and management to get a winning formula going on the pitch and to move the club forward while they are here. I've long since stopped looking for 'heroes', the club is all that matters to me.
-
SSN Daniel Craig says it's McCarthy's 'dream move', just like Lucash!
-
I am sure he had some essence of normality at Boro, but maybe I just didnt notice?!
Think the England experience has caused his marbles to be well and truely lost.
-
'you scored the greatest goal EVER against Manchester'
Looked like Birmingham City to me but the details arent important!
'He comes direct from the Norfolk club, in the north east of England'
Soccer will make it big in the US of A!

It would appear that it is to get fit enough for one or two games and pocket £50,000 + a week
How frightfully cynical of you
-
Watching him for both Chelsea and Newcastle, he seems to have completely lost his ability to take on players to such an extent I wonder what his game is actually supposed to be about. Ryan Giggs has lost pace but has added many other qualities to his game, Duffer, lets just remember the good times.
-
Accidental then, is it?
You know what den I think it is, the media are that institutionally biased they probably won't een realise.
-
On the drummer though, the commentator had it one, tuneless and out of time banging on a drum does not help the atmosphere, but just makes us look like lower league nomarks.
-
To me there can only be one. PHIL THOMPSON.
He’s the most arrogant, condescending, big club biased, one eyed plonker on television, radio or press.
The ribbing he was getting on Soccer Saturday as Havant & Waterlooville went 1-0 and 2-1 was up was priceless.
-
I was bemused when I heard that too. You would expect most football fans to know that, never mind commentators.
I got about 10 txts in about 5 mons from Rovers and non Rovers fans!
Innocent mistake, I think not! Ive said it before and I'll say it again, a small town club in the 'greatest sports competition' in the world is a massive irritation to the powers that be.
-
I like AESF posts normally but there seems to be a contradiction, you complained that last year Zara Philips won only because of her Royal connections- as 'old Britain' and non-liberal media as you can get. Yet now you say Hamilton would have only won because of his 'new Britian' and liberal media popularity?
Which one is it?

top stuff whittle blue.
Just a reminder if anyone thought Rovers fan or not that Garns was just some run of the mill lower league player, well now you know better!
-
Juve have had falling attendances ever since the late 90's. I think last year they had a cup game with an attendance of 250. This despite a few years ago having all women and children's season tickets priced at one Euro per game.
Yeah I think Juve arent massively supported in Turin but across Italy, yet it seems that the Sardinia Branch of their supporters club etc dont bother with the day trips like the Torquay Branch of the Manure fan club. Also their fans have never taken to the Stadio Deli Alpi (sp!) as its a crap ground on the edge of the city

My dad made a compilation tape of all Rovers Tv appearences from the City 4-0 in 1989 to the Liverpool cup game of 91. The Palace play off first leg still makes me go for f*** sake Howard put the penalty away!!! Garner at full time being interviewed with no teeth, 'its only half time, weve got to finish the job down there' then cuts to Rovers fans queing for tickets. Im sure I used to cry when I watched it as a kid!
Talking of followings, that very tape showed I think an Ian Miller penalty from 1989/90 season away at Stoke, looked a massive following. Still I wouldnt swap what we had then for wht we have now, nostalgia is just that
-
Im happy with the increase in attendance, 3 thousand up in one summer, did we honestly expect an extra 6/7 thousand etc? Ive said it before, we have a small population to garner our fans from, our attendances are superb, doesnt mean much in a league of big cities though.
However what worries me that in our core areas of Blackburn and Darwen, I feel the Rovers are becoming less pivotal to the residents. We have an Asian population who love football, but Arsenal, Man U etc. The same can be said for the young white population, walk around Blackburn and Darwen town centres on a Saturday afternoon, non rovers shirts are seriously outnumbered, if we lose our core areas the club is in terminal decline

Just getting into the Boss himself Bruce Springsteen, didnt think id enjoy the Joe Americaness of it all but what can I say, cant listen to dancing in the dark though without thinking of Courtney Cox dancing like a grandma at a wedding!
-
its the ramblings of a deluded lunatic, what do you expect? Still, its considerably better written than anything by Irvine Welsh
We talking about Hitler or Campbell?

About renaming a stand.
Of course, that would be fantastic, but alternatively someone has posted on the LT website a suggestion of sprucing up the gates around the Jack Walker stand and renaming them the Clayton Gates.
