I watch a fair bit of both codes, but find the Premiership almost unwatchable at times. Whilst even a poor RL game has its moments.
How do you avid RL fans feel about Union ending up with a far bigger profile?

Before my time but my dad had always said that the 1970 England team were better then the 66 side.

Tell you what there is a lot of bulls*** that surrounds football, but this last day or so has really brought home why we love the game. From fans, to players, to managers, some of the tributes and memories I have read have brought a lump to my throat.
He really was one of the few people in football I really admired.
God Speed, Gary.

Why doesn't it make sense?
Mental illness has affected those with power, glory, wealth- say Winston Churchill to your man struggling to pay his bills in a bedsit.
It doesn't discriminate.

RIP, No age at all.
Can't believe it would be suicide, what on earth would drive a guy who had everything going for him to that?
That's mental illness, doesn't take account of wealth, family, material possessions.
gutted.

He played till he was 40! Ultimate pro, and always came across as a top bloke.
Really sad news.

Don't be expecting any digging from the LT!

Thing is Seggie, I can't remember a manager blame his assistant before.
Blame the owners, yes, or the players, or the fans, or lack of resources. But his own assistant?
-
How the hell has Steve Kean created himself such a bulletproof position at our club?
It actually beggars belief!

Kean to be number 2?
Think of the damage to his pride and ego? I just cannot see him accepting it.
Some fudge where he remains number 1 in name only with a DofF calling the shots seems more likely.
Brian Robson and Terry Venables anyone?

Aye, it was the absolutely freezing, spent most of the game bouncing on the spot.
Great performance from a team that was far too good for that league. Friedel, Duff, Dunn, Jansen, Hignett, Berg, Short, Berkovic, Hughes- christ it's better than our side now!

So , so many, but I'll never forget the first Premier League game at Ewood Park.
Rovers 1 Arsenal 0, Shearer was an absolute nightmare for their defence all night and then shoulder barged Carter (?) into the Enclosure and smacked it in, Blackburn End went absolutely potty- WE HAD ARRIVED
The striking similarity between all my visits watching Rovers is that Rovers supporters are Englands nicest supporters (Nothing like people are on this MB)

I've only recently discovered Curb Your Enthusiasm and it's first class.
Season 8 started in the States on Sunday, I *ahem* found a way of watching it over here.
I actually LOLd often.

Whoa whoa whoa preston blue!
The MODERN 'game' of football you must be referring to, shirley?
-
Mad Men.
Top class in every way.
-
Not Rovers, but bugger it!
-
Actually got goosebumps watching that, if only because I can remember watching it when I was younger... we lost that match 2-0 if my memory serves me correctly... was gutted. Good thing it didn't matter in the end
So did I! It was such a journey those few years. sometimes wish I had savoured them even more.

Went to Sharjan on Friday- poor again.
Absolutely heaving though, wouldn't know a good curry if it was lobbed in their face some folk.
-
Take Away?
Has GOT to be Pizza Italia on Whalley New Road (bottom of St James'), proper thin crusts made by actual Italians.
For Currys- Bilash in Darwen is bob on.

Where did you drag this thread from gord?!
AESF, whatever hapenned to him?

Now we are talking!
5) Burnley 0 Rovers 2. December 2000. So much build up and hype, but we then gave them a lesson. Ball being sent off for that lunge and doing the walk of shame to the Rovers fans topped it off!
4) PNE 0 Rovers 1. May 2001. Rovers fans packed in to the paddock terrace going potty when Jansen scored, Flitcroft saying 'we did it for Jack' on his tshirt. 'Rovers are back, Rovers are back hello hello1'
3) Rovers 4 Derby county 2. May 1992. Two nill down after 10 minutes, blokes in the Riverside walking out, others almost in tears as it would be 3 play off failures in 4 years. Then Sellars, Newell and 2 from Speedie got us in control!
2) Rovers 1 Newcastle 0. May 1995. Ive never known tension like it, Newcastle bossed the game, Flowers had 'bottle', Shearer got the goal. Almost there!
1) Liverpool 2 rovers 1. May 1995. The away end was a nighmare, people shouting 'Cole's missed a penalty', 'United are winning' etc etc, Redknapp scored.... blur. Greatest day of my life.

Due to my age I am relatively unaware of Rovers pre the Premiership years - got into Rovers through Flowers 93-94 season I think.
So I'm always on the look out for vhs's off ebay so I can catch up on history.
I managed to pick up the 91-92 promotion season for a couple of quid the other day and I watched it last night while the missus' is away.
So Speedie - for a small guy, what a great header of the ball! Some cracking finishes on there.
All I remember Speedie from is Central sports live which was a midlands ITV thing on a sunday where they featured a live game from a midlands team.
He was in the twilight of his career and was playing for Leicester.
One season only but he totally galvanised the side. It was my first year as a season ticket holder and he was my hero! A clinical finisher that had a field day in that division.
His hat trick against Newcastle as their Messiah mk1 returned is still one of my favourite Ewood memories, jumping on the Darwen End fence and giving some to the deluded ones.
Another hat trick at Plymouth to get us in to the play offs, his goals against Derby in the semi to get us a 4-2 win after being two down, 'buying' that penalty at Wembley- great days with more to come.

Not a fan of Sharjan, got a Rogan Josh there and I've honestly had better from Asda.
Sukhi's on the other hand
