Yes they have done well. But they are at home and have all the advantages. It's England forcing the tempo and making them play our way. Plus we have coped with illness and integrated new players. We have played brilliantly well and taken the cricketing world by suprise.

    Spot on.

England have only won twice in Pakistan in 60yrs until this series, this is a phenomenal effort by a tremendous team, Pakistan were blown away.

Pass and move can work but it has to be done with pace and two touches. We have far too many players who are slow in the footballing mind and execution of play. It's incredible that Tomasson hasn't worked this out yet.

Maybe he's persisting with the current tactics to try and improve the players in this area Tony. You're right we don't have the players to play this way, but with practice we could have.

By saying not much to beat I was meaning the results in the tournaments not the Managers.I would love to be wrong and see him lifting a trophy if he stays.

    Sorry my misunderstanding.

On the Trophy, Me too Darren, me too.

If we had a clear replacement i'd definitely say yes. He's had 3 tournaments to win one,yes he's done better than anyone else the last 20/30 years but there wasn't much to beat.

If i was the FA i'd seriously have a look who's out there to replace him. He's done some good things like brought the team together as one,no more cliques but also he's does stuff like taking Saka off when he was having one of his best games for England.I don't agree with Chaddy's excuse that he was shattered,he's 21 he ain't 40.

Southgate is a great guy but for me he's had his go.

    Wasn’t much to beat?

Have you seen the list of managers we’ve had over 20/30yrs? The real cream of the crop from across Europe?

I respect your opinion of course but we must keep Southgate at all costs for me, no reason to replace him.

why does it even matter if Southgate would get PL job? maybe he doesn't want to manage at club level.

I’ve read this a few times on here now, it doesn’t matter a jot, a poor argument in my opinion.

Every England manager has failed miserably since Alf Ramsey in 66, Southgate has a record many of those managers would be proud of.

He stays and wins the Euros for me, I may even dust off the passport myself.

The people including me saying 2 years ago that mowbray should have gone were right,he did nothing to prove they were wrong in wanting him gone, maybe they're once again right with Southgate

I think we should caveat the above with the same Brfcs posters wanted Mowbray out in Oct of the promotion season, which frankly was embarrassing, but this is an England thread.

    Do you want Southgate sacked?

  7. This site has an obsession with changing managers, be it at club level or national level, it rarely works as we have born witness to over many years.

Southgate has moulded the current crop into an exceptional side, one of the best in the world currently in my opinion and he should be allowed to carry on the good work he's doing. That said, we are lacking in defence, thats isn't the managers fault, the Premiership is missing top quality English defenders especially in the middle, but we have to live with that.

I know many England fans through work and on a personal level, hardly any think the managers time is up, which speaks volumes for me.

I said it at the start of the tournament our defence isn't good enough, that's tlstill the case.  We need a manager like JM to sort it out.

Give over man 🤣 been on the Eggnog?

Southgate is the man to take this side forward, not some has been with an ego the size of a small country.

I think you're right re: Venkys. It will take a season of monumental fluke to get promoted under them.

All this tippy tappy shite, however, is nothing to do with Venkys. It's solely on JDT.

It is Wheelton you’re right, he needs to find what works and what doesn’t, but it’s no coincidence that almost every top club in the world use this tactic, it must bring some rewards on the stats sheet somewhere.

We don’t have the players to play that way right now in my opinion, but in doing so it could well improve the group and we see the rewards further down the line.

That is why we wont even get the play offs never mind promotion

They arent interested ..last season was the best opportunity and didnt go for it .

    Spot on Athlete.

Its been 11yrs blaming manager after manager, the penny has to drop at some point.

JDT was 5th maybe 6th choice to replace Mowbray, the managers looked at in the summer that could actually take the club to the next level, soon realised the club has no money and no ambition under these owners and went elsewhere.

JDT needs time, he's been in the building 5 minutes, but if anyone thinks he or anyone else for that matter, under Venkys, will take this club up, you're in for disappointment season after season.

0 for 3 so far is his record

A euro final is the best finish by an England manager since 1966, that’s good enough for me, keep going.

Yeah his record speaks for itself - never won a sausage. If you want to win things - get a winner.

    Alf Ramsey?

  12. England the better side tonight, really unlucky to lose, but the future is bright. We have been one of the best sides, if not the best side in this tournament.

Southgate keeps his job, he keeps this side together and we win the Euros.

Having been to a number of World Cups and Euros myself, I feel for the fans, but as an armchair fan tonight I’m proud of the efforts.

    Onwards and upwards.

Rewarding a shit performance at Burnley, sends wrong signals for me.

Warm weather training away from families is hardly a reward, it’s a sensible option for the club, but the players are certainly not being rewarded.

I’m surprised by the general outrage to be honest, this side is worse than last seasons, the manager was 5/6th choice and he was given no money to spend in the grand scheme of things.

Our league position is false and has been all season.
