  1. The most pathetic display I’ve seen in years. Truly awful. Against the weakest side in the division who did nothing all game. Furious.

Bad team selection to start with but yet again, it’s the defence that falls apart. Mulgrew is nowhere, Bennett a liability and Bell half asleep. Walton looks less reliable than Raya which is an achievement.

His days are numbered if this carries on.

We’re a weaker side this year than last, because of this reason (and Raya leaving), that’s why I think we’ll struggle. Our only potential saving graces are Rothwell getting more game time, and Brereton showing why we paid so much for him. Signings wise, it’s been a poor window, so far.

Disagree. It’s been underwhelming but we’re marginally stronger than last year. Reed is the only miss and I’d suggest that Johnson is a decent replacement along with Travis stepping up. Gallagher and Downing give us much better depth. Walton for Raya is marginal.

Nuttall has shown more than Brereton when he's had the chance----and that's what irks me.

Brereton has more potential imo and even then he’s hardly first choice. Nuttall’s game looks far more limited. He could tear up L1 but I’d be surprised. Of all the business we’ve done this summer, this is one piece that I don’t think we’ll regret.

  4. Surprised by some of the reaction to the Nuttall sale. He never looked remotely up to Championship standards.

Selling Raya without an adequate replacement lined up is certainly worthy of criticism. Getting shot of our 5th choice striker for around 750k is not.

The fact that Samuel is still here is surely due to a lack of buyers rather than being ahead of anyone in the pecking order.

    Bennett and Downing at fulbacks.

    Rothwell on the benchh

He either doesn't get it, or simply doesn't want it.

    Mowbray out?

Mowbray has also made about 10 substitutions. Does he know that he can only make 3 in a league game?

He either doesn’t get the rules or doesn’t want it.

    Or maybe it’s just a pre-season game.

Let’s at least wait until Charlton before losing our collective s***.

So should we flog Dack and get a replacement in on loan as well?

If the replacement is miles better, yes.

i get the point you’re trying to make but Raya wasn’t one of our best players last season and certainly isn’t irreplaceable. Dack is slightly different.

Im underwhelmed but prepared to give him a chance.

None of them are upgraded though. We also haven’t replaced P Downing (since January) or Raya and both replacements will have had barely any pre-season with us.

It all seems so difficult and expensive to get in a goalkeeper and a centre back... so what did we do? Spent £5m on another attacker.

If the window closed today then it’s been an awful one. A lot rests on those two positions but it’s looking like Walton and Adarabioyo. At best we have replaced like for like together with yet more potential.

    It hasnt been awful.

Conway and Rodwell won’t be missed. I’d argue that Downing and Johnson are more useful players to have. Raya will depend on the replacement(s).

The window hasn’t been great by any stretch. I’m a bit disappointed given some of the talk in May, however the squad is marginally stronger and there are still signings to come.

We’ve kept our best players and we’re gradually strengthening. Not awful in my book.

big shame,   evans and smallwood must be looking good in training for us to pass on adam and holtby,   adams looked great by all accounts holtby we dont know what happend of course but im dissapointed about adam

I understood that Holtby had already agreed to go to Galatasary before he trained with us.

Our priority isn’t central midfield. I’m very pleased with the Johnson signing and with Travis/Buckley coming through, it’s hard to justify bringing Adam in. Don’t think we’ll regret that one if it falls through.

Said all along, the keeper will be a free and the defender will be a last minute loan just to say he got one in.

Probably names out of left field that we have never been linked with and would never have thought of.

I think next season could be an utter shambles.

Raya is the only first team player we have lost and we’re yet to see his replacement. I agree that if we don’t get a decent keeper through the door then we’re struggling but otherwise, the squad is stronger than last season at this stage. Bradley Johnson certainly improves us.

Are we ready for a promotion push, probably not but I don’t think we should write off next season just yet.

Gutted about Raya going, I was really looking forward to watching him develop. Another thing added to Mowbray’s catalog of errors. I’d trust Brentford’s scouting department over Mowbray’s opinion a player, every single time.

All depends who we replace him with.

Cant label it an error until we see how Raya develops over time.

Im on the fence. Seems an odd one considering how relatively small the fee appears to be.

Don’t think many of us were complaining when he got dropped at the end of the season so if we can get a decent replacement in, I’ll be alright with it.

Happy with Johnson. Established championship player and certainly an improvement on what we have.

It's not about judging where we are now or at the end of the window. This debate was started because Mowbray has seemingly done a U-turn on what he saw as an absolute priority in March on the strength of a few dead rubber games. If you aren't alarmed by his comments that's fine but the majority are.

Were you not concerned by our defensive record and felt we need different types of players to what we have?

I’ll judge him by his actions. If he said all the right things at this moment in time but failed to improve the squad before August, I’d feel the same way. Positive intentions mean nothing if he can’t deliver. I’m not getting carried away with his recent comments in the same way that I didn’t get carried away with his previous ones.

I know my comment about Jansen was out of context. He got badly injured. I was just trying to think of players who didn't fulfill their potential

You said that Jansen was a player who took his ‘foot off the pedal’.

Some might say that after nearly being killed in a motorbike accident, Jansen did well just to walk on to a pitch again.

Its not quite the same scenario as Sturridge..

I can’t believe you would compare Waggott with Williams. They are like night and day.

However, the reason Waggott shouldn’t just keep increasing prices every year is because, one, we do not have fans with pots of cash, and, two, this club needs to build bridges with the fanbase that has been treated very very badly this last 8 years.

He needs to get more people through the door not just keep tapping the already most loyal fans.

We are also a business. I imagine you’ll be one of many expecting us to spend big money in the summer. It has to be generated from somewhere. It doesn’t necessarily justify expensive tickets but a balance has to be found. I haven’t done any research but I imagine that our tickets are still cheaper than most.

Also, your first post on this thread criticised the club for dropping prices for the Swansea game. That is exactly how to get more fans through the door - an issue you then criticise Waggott for in your post above. The club seems to be damned either way.

Despite the respectable scoreline that was an absolute tubbing, six or seven one wouldn"t have flattered them in the slightest. We were so far behind a vibrant Norwich it was embarrasing.

We are so going nowhere under Mowbray. Leutwiler, Bennett, Williams, Conway ,Graham (Did he even touch the ball?)

The point was merely underlined when at 2-1 down we substituted Dack for Chapman. You can't have two flair playets on the pitch at the same time, oh no.

Will be renewing my ST but not looking forward to next season at all and fear we will be relegation fodder unless there are massive changes, starting in the dug out and continuing down the spine of the team.

Keep it fair. He’s played Rothwell and Dack in the last few games so clearly Mowbray accepts that two playmakers can be on the pitch. Dack was awful today. Mowbray would have been criticised for keeping him on if he hadn’t been replaced.

Also Williams was arguably our best player tonight.

Im not going to lose the plot over tonight. We showed that we’re not at Norwich’s level at the moment but they’re top of the league for a reason. We need to build on what we have. Should be an interesting summer.
