  1. rubbish = dump I am clutching at straws here adopted scouser help me out here, desperately trying to figure out how someone could classify that movie as rubbish.
  2. I think, and hope, he was making an elaborate pun in regards to where the unfortunate aliens reside.
  3. I would rather be whipped naked through the streets of Burnley than watch that again. Has Jacksons yell-o-meter ever been tuned higher? Besides his death scene in Deep Blue Sea that is. I think I replayed that scene 20 times, classic.
  4. Tripe it is not - horror comedy at its finest. Whilst I think that it is a good movie, it doesn't belong that high up the list. If he hadn't of died I don't think it would have been, even though the part he took as the Joker was great.
  5. Number 3 is rightly above any of the others in the series. 30 should be higher but maybe that is just personal taste too. Love that 49 got there
  6. Why? I am honestly wondering. I thought it was a pasted together version of "The Departed" with generic characters. I mean how much more cliched could it be? A black cop too deep in his cover - begining to feel his people more than his coworkers, a retiring boozing Irish American, and a crooked Italian American cop with a loss of faith complex, just trying to provide for his family. Each one of those things have been in their own movies, and to better effect. Geere almost reprised his "Internal Affairs" character, except this one paid for sex. Powerful scenes yes, but its just like aftershave - if you put too much on it just stinks and one looks like one is trying far too hard.
  7. Not like Cormac McCarthy then? I have been reading some really heavy stuff lately and am desperate for something fast and good.
  8. Never tried them American, are they an easy read or something that you have to seriously put some thought into?
  9. I had to watch it for a review, strangely enough I cannot remember anything about it besides the fact that I didn’t like it too much.
  10. Could I recommend for my fellow readers this site - www.goodreads.com It is kind of like a virtual library for the books that you have read, you can also see people comments and ratings on books that you have also read and then see what other books they like. It is a fantastic resource for books and lots of good discussions, tips etc. Just finished rereading IT by Stephen King, the man uses pretty much every childhood fear in this novel to pretty good effect. The most disturbing part, in my view, was how the charecters, when they were children, escaped the sewers.
  11. Yeah he did Tim, June 95 I believe. Only international goal right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkTD5RcEwtU at 5:05
  12. Wilcox and Ripley, not to mention Berg's and Le Saux's maurauding runs, would destroy our defence. Shearer would eat us up alive. Oh what a team that was.
  13. No probs. You should start with Guns of the South, a fantastic read. The World War Series is also some serious fun.
  14. Saw “The Last Exorcism” last night – quite a nice unpretentious little movie, sets up the premise quite well, some nice twist and turns. The actress does very well. Some nice creepy moments to scare the teenyboppers, had a few of them behind me sounding quite nervous. Wait for the DVD, there is nothing to be gained by seeing this in the cinema.
  15. By chance did she have a sex scene in it? If not I am shocked.
  16. Flash Gordon and original BSG too. More ammunition.
  17. I think the dated look kind of adds to the dystopia element of the whole thing now. They have cleaned up the quality in the latest release and one can ignore the hair and such if one tries hard enough. Who knows what styles would be like in the 23rd century? Just like Battlestar Gallactica who went to yard sales to get props, the use of old things can sometimes be effective. I think this can be given to old sci-fi films as a gimmie. You are right though, it should be on any sci-fi fans list.
  18. Abbey it was serious crap, I think that Adam Sandler should be more ashamed at that attempt at humor than he was for Little Nicky. He should stay well clear of making a film for the foreseeable future as he is typecasting himself into an actor that is seriously crap. Spade seems to have the explosive humor of a wet banger and the whole film stank of a very bad, drunk impersonation of the three stooges. I would go so far as to say that it was torturous. There were more laughs watching a five minute advert reel in Lower Slabobia. By the end of the torture I was convinced that it was a subtle horror movie. I stopped drinking and just ate popcorn, hoping to choke to death.
  19. Absolutely it is one of the finest Scifi movies I have seen. It is set in future where the citizens are only allowed a certain life span. When this time is over they have to voluntarily transcend as they put it. If they run then they are hunted down by a special group that makes sure they transcend. It is an older movie but fantastic. Nice to see the late great Jordan in a great role as well.
  20. Have you ever watched Logans Run AmericanRover
