Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Gates of Fire by Stephen Pressfield is well worth a read. It's a novel about the Spartan stand against the Persians at Thermopylae. A classic of it's genre, almost had me in tears...well actually If you're into historical novels. Give it a go. You'll love it!
