I think the Rodwell signing may have freed up a little cash set aside for Bauer. Might help us to get one or two of the cash buys over the line

Good point. Let's hope so. We probably need to 2 strikers now given Samuel's injury.

A lot of people talking about a potential for making money when we sale a player we may sign. Surely the last thing you should be thinking about when signing a player is we may be able to sale him and make a few million in a couple of years.

    I agree.

At £8 mil the lad is going to have to knocking on the England senior door to exponentialy increase in value and score double figures this season to maintain/slightly increase his value.  There are lots of young Englandprospects about - Solanke, Abraham, Lookman etc.

Big ask without him having any stand out features to his game.

    Fair comment

  4. I don’t think that we will pay more than   £5-6M for Brereton. The total with addons May be £8-9M but I suspect the addons will be promotion and senior England appearances based I.e. possible future costs not this season. It is still a bit of a gamble, if we signed him but he will give us NOW speed, skill and no little bullying of the defenders. He is out wide because he runs the channels and stretches the defenders with his speed and power. This would leave space for Dack and Armstrong to exploit. With the players we have he will only get better. Being able to bring on Graham late in a game is a hell of an option to have available.

I also think that we will sign Chapman and then we would have a team that could frighten the living daylights out of most teams in this division.

I find it a little unusual as well Rev. Keep reading that he was linked to Liverpool and Man U 'not so long ago'.  If he is the real deal, it is very surprising he hasn't been hoovered up by one of the 'big' clubs - never mind not being good enough to command a starting place at Forest!

To say he is only 19 now he was used a lot last year. It is only because of the new experienced strikers they have now that are keeping him out of the starting line up.

We've offered £6m and Forest reportedly want £12m - all according to The Sun. First mention of £7m is from @Bigdoggsteel, who suggested £7m as a compromise figure.

Let's drop it back down to £6m for now. ?

Seems sensible to me. ? If I suggested 9m then the message board would go mental saying why is the club paying so much for him. Let’s keep it based on the facts (albeit from Nixon) otherwise people will get carried away. ?

  7. Where has the £7M come from I thought that it had risen from £5M to £6M? Either way Mowbray is not going to pay that much outright just like he didn’t pay £3M for Armstrong. We would be paying for potential, which is fair enough, so it will be a lowish figure with lots of add ons, subject to success criteria. This will to get to a final potential figure that Forrest would be happy to disclose to disgruntled supporters, just like we did with Newcastle. It won’t be a flat fee of 4,5,6 or7 million. Mowbray won’t want to take too much of a gamble. Payment based on delivered success like promotion or playing for the full England team is fair enough and would be reflected in his increased value.

It appears to me that Maddison hasn't yet kicked up a fuss and has been a model professional. It could be that Peterborough fans are just trying to say he has a bad attitude because they expect him to leave and feels he owes them more?

I asked the question to some Peterborough fans and they said that the majority appreciated what he did for the team ie goals and assists, but he dived a lot wouldn’t tackle and didn’t track back. Although I would love him to join us for his end product, I can’t see how that behaviour would go down well with our team.

If Chapman doesn't even get any minutes then it will be more motivation for him to leave, especially if Bolasie comes in.

I'm 100% positive he'd rather be at Rovers. My guess he will be the deadline day signing for us and everyone will go into meltdown.

Tony won’t want to risk buying him until he is convinced he is the same player that he was before the injury. That’s why I think that he is playing the waiting game. I would expect him to come in on Monday as a loan with a view to buy in January. Being in his last year of his contract Boro would most likely prefer a sale if they don’t want him anymore so it makes sense. We certainly need a player like him when we are chasing a game.

  10. Maddison (sorry I keep going on about him) was brilliant last year in those circumstances repeatedly playing superb balls over the top for Jack Marriott to run on to and score his goals. Armstrong is the same height as him, just as quick and probably a better consistent finisher. That’s why I think Mowbray will be trying to sign Maddison, in my humble opinion.

I feel armstrong can be even better this season. We were the big fish last year and most teams sat deep against us.

You can be sure we wont ge that respect this year, we will spend a lot more time deeper ourselves and defending. Thats where his pace can be used a lot more on the break this season.

Wasnt always any space for him to use last year

    Very good point

Sounds like Middlesbrough are after Hugill and Waghorn. Spending some money. Must be knocking £80 million out in the last 3 windows if they get them two.

That may mean Rudy Gestede could be surplus to requirements. As long as he is not a crock after his injuries, he would be an excellent cheap target man to get in. Thoughts?

I think we'll sign Armstrong  for around the £1m mark but through fear of injuries, pass on Chapman.  I honestly think that Chapman will have a super career though.  Unfortunately, we don't have the money to gamble with.

If Middlesbrough would agree, we could get him on a season long loan with an agreed purchase price. Then we would get best of both worlds i.e. he’d be tried and tested. Even though his contract would be up they would still be eligible for compensation, so an agreed price at this stage may work for both parties.
