Oh yes, Papa Roach's Infest still sits, aherm, proudly in my CD collection - I've a policy of not trading any albums in just so I can look back on my own folly. I got suckered by Papa Roach's first two singles ripping off Iron Maiden lead parts - not that I recognised that at the time of course - but I still managed to convince myself for a few months that I was enjoying the album, and that the lyrics weren't absolute comedy gold. "Take your money, burn it up like an asteroid." Ohhhh yeah.

That's what I'm taking out of it. I refuse to be optimistic about signing him though.

Thankfully I never got caught out by that, but I've still got a few cringeworthy memories from around 2000-2002 time. :ph34r:

Battlefield Earth? I am a fan of the big fella as well, though, and I'm really keen to see this film. I saw Apocalypto on Friday night, thought it was good. Nothing spectacular, but Predator in Mayan Times is good enough for me. I'd also be keen to see a film made about the cities and the rulers and the collapse of their civilisation and all that.

It is indeed a great album (album of '06 for me actually), challenged only by their self-titled and Legion. The new guitarists, particularly Ralph Santolla, took them to a new level. Both Deicide and Cannibal Corpse came up with unexpected brilliance last year. Though I am looking forward to the new Idlewild album. Hopefully it will be better than the last one.

I'm sure Birmingham will do everything in their power to make sure he goes to Bolton rather than ourselves (and I'm not sure that's a bad thing).

Rodney Marsh was another home-grown diver from the 70s. A self-confessed one at that.

I find it a bit odd that there's been nothing from the club about it, but this really is a devastating blow (for the player as well as the team of course). It looked like our recent good form was set to get a timely boost with the return of some key reinforcements. Hopefully there's nothing in this or the injury isn't as serious as first feared.

I was very pleased when Newell had the balls to make a public statement on bungs in football, but lately it seems every time he opens his mouth nothing but a nonsensical stream of crap pours out.

I'm going to see Deicide on Thursday night - minus their bloody vocalist no less. A day or two before a massive European tour starts and Glen Benton decides he has urgent matters to deal with at home (again). So while I'm mightily peeved at paying full price to see them with an unknown Polish fella filling in on bass and vocals, I suppose I won't be as annoyed as the punters at the first few gigs who had to see them with the drummer from the support band singing from a lyrics sheet with no one playing bass. Scammed.

Yes, it was fantastic, I'd recommend it to anyone (well, anyone over a certain age, there's a few instances of brutal violence).

Did I say Saturday? I meant Friday. They played Glasgow last night and were fantastic. The new album really is a strong one, and while I don't think playing the whole thing was a great idea, it came off perfectly. I'd rather they dropped 2 Minutes to Midnight out of the encores in favour of something else, but nothing to complain about overall. At least they didn't close on Run to the Bloody Hills again and I'm really glad The Evil That Men Do got an airing. You didn't miss too much with the stage set, it was a lot more toned down than usual. A couple of dummy soldiers, a pair of spotlights and a backdrop that changed a couple of times. Did you at manage to see the two Eddies?

Topping the league is always fun, regardless of the performance. As long as the players don't think that the corner has been turned hopefully we can take some confidence from this result into out next game. The break from European distractions for a while will no doubt do us some good over the coming weeks as well (either that or we'll find out that it really was a crap excuse for our poor league form).

Tricky one. On the surface it doesn't mean too much, but the last thing we need just now is another defeat. And on the other hand, putting out as full a team as we can and telling them to go hell for leather probably isn't the smartest move either, with regards to injuries. Take it as it comes I suppose, but obviously we want to be finishing as high in the table as possible (you can thank me for that breathtaking insight anytime).

Iron Maiden at the SECC on Saturday. Can't wait. I've just about got used to the idea that they'll be playing the entire new album from beginning to end at the expense of, well, a lot of other tracks. So long as I get to see them at Sweden Rock or Wacken Open Air during the summer when they're back to playing the classics I'll be happy.
