  1. It's also a case with the dingles that if you buy before a certain date you get a discount (couple of sheep and a turnip or something). I reckon they'll probably sell somewhere in the region of another 2000 between now and August - they're hardly going to sell more just because they're on sale earlier. I mean it's still rubbish whenever you buy it - "Is tha goin t'turf?" - "Ney lad - not sin thay stopped doin t'football".

Anyway good news for us. Think I paid £380 for the BBE last year. It ain't cheap but they could have snuck another ton on there and I'd have still got one (don't tell Williams). Obviously there are thousands who wouldn't have I know that. Hopefully we won't lose too many ST Holders this season.

A season ticket holding Trotter I know had his go up 20% to £480.00 last week. Still doesn't Sam do well with all these loan deals and free transfers - they mustn't have to pay them much in wages at all.

  2. It's quite interesting putting (real) faces to usernames. This picture caught my eye.

What the hell is going on here ?. Is he a real Bishop ?.

If I'm right about this, when ever Rovers/Burnley or Preston Go up or down a coffin goes in or out of the ground and gets blessed - just an excuse to have a few beers I think.

Please correct me if I'm wrong people but the details are something like...

This is done in Bamber Bridge - inbetween Blackburn and Preston - where the inhabitants are a mixture of BRFC and PNE. As Lord Cocker has said whenever either team is relegated or promoted a coffin with the name BRFC or PNE on is taken from one pub in Brig and taken to another. So a burial or a resurrection (although the resurrection still means walking a coffin around the streets!?).

I went to the last one - funnily enough it's an excuse to get hammered. It also took place at the same time as some sort of carnival thing with floats and that. Don't ask me what the hell was going on - I was drinking.

  3. I respectfully disagree.

Fair do's. I wasn't actually saying we should sell him - just second guessing what I think may happen. I was making a case for the reasons as to why the club may decide to sell. We shall see.

I certainly don't want him to go. I agree with you, we have to consider that it'll cost a few bob to replace him - probably more than we have to spend this summer (I'm guessing again). As for a "discredited Spanish bonding trip" - I thought that was Leicester City?

  4. No. I wasn't thinking quite that tall. He was stood next to BobF for a while just after the emergency evacuation prank.

Tall balding bloke ??? Must be JPW smile.gif

No it wasn't JPW - although he fits the description. It's strange but I can't remember his name either - he reads the board but doesn't post. It's just going to be one of those things that we'll never know. Since he turned up around the time of the fire drill I'm going to refer to him as Keith Lard.

Erm, I think you mean me.

    Of course!! Alright sleepyjack!

  5. I'd be surprised if Cole stayed.

This just smacks of the Dunny situation last year.

    We've seen it all before.

Same here I'm afraid. Not only a Dunn situation but also a bit of a Todd situation as well, but maybe not as much as a Yorke situation. We were well and truly in the brown stuff and there was Cole asking for time off and not wanting to go on that break they went on to Spain. Next thing he reports Souness to the PFA.

Not only that but this is the clubs last chance to get some money for him - as we all know he can walk away for nothing next summer.

I can only see this going one way.

As for Fowler. He's not been anywhere like his best for years now plus he's clearly over weight and doesn't look match fit. His Fruit and Veg stall might as well shut down for all the effort he puts in. I blame that Sonia. Much the same can be said of Robbie as well - and he's lost all his pace - and he's fallen out with his manager I think I read somewhere (that wouldn't happen at Rovers). I don't want either of them at Ewood.

  6. Peace offer to Jay and DavidDunn 16 :

OK LADS! you are the bestest, bestest and even better than bestest fans ever to visit our falling down stadium, you are huge and make the pig farmers of Blackburn look small fry.Your vocal support nearly ripped the sky open tha' nows!

That more or less sums up how I feel about them as well. I'm still coming to terms with that on Saturday. Goodness. I think the town will recover over the summer months after their visit. Truly amazing. 4000 Brummies - some in clowns outfits (no not Taylor) and some of them singing as well. We can only live in hope that one day we'll somehow get to the same sort of level as Birmingham City. They actually finished 10th this season. 10th!? Goodness me. They'll be pushing for 9th next year at this rate. And they're trying to buy Ronal..... sorry Emile Heskey. Oh well - I'm already bracing myself for next years visit. Shudder.

  8. Who is the biggest joker in the Rovers squad ?

    Graeme Souness

Do you read supporters internet web sites, and if so have you ever read the fans message board on this site ? (www.brfcs.com)

Yes, once or twice, but most don’t have any idea about football so I don’t anymore.

    Prediction for Saturday ?

    1-1

    Answer 1 laugh.gif

    Answer 2 ohmy.giflaugh.gif

Answer 3 dry.gif Smart arse - bet he didn't back Cole at 6-1 though did he?

  9. can't understand why Bob F thought i was going to be 45, with a beard and no hair  blink.gif

Well who was that I was talking to with Pringle on the back of his shirt then? He fitted that description. laugh.gif

A good night I seem to recall. Good to put many names to faces and all that - met a lot of new people and Alan75 gave me a sneak preview of the Dunn questionnaire. Marvelous stuff.

For some strange reason I recall "singing" some sort of karoke number with Tris and Gav - what the hell was all that about? I'm not eating salted peanuts ever again - mess with your mind them things.

  10. The dreaded hamstring me thinks however, I have a suspition that hes just worried of being hit by a pie.

I somehow doubt the pie thing - he's never been scared of them before. It sounds like some sort of Homer Simpson dream - for Dunny to be showered by Pies. "Ow!! that hurt - Mmmmm Pie - Ow!! that hurt - Mmmmm Pie" etc for 90 minutes. I could do without that.

(A bit like that Homers lobster / Duff skit that someone did on here once - very funny - something like "Boo Hoo - we've lost Duff - Hurrah! - £17m - Boo Hoo..." etc)

  11. "Deadwood Park"  laugh.gif  Brilliant! Not only incredibly funny but original as well.

    Irony Bob??

Yes. First time I heard that though was from a Dingle a few years ago just before we beat them 5-0. I laughed then as well. Just goes to show that all football fans pick up on something that's incredibly clever and funny all at the same time.

Remind me please someone - Is Dunn definitely out of this game? If so why?

  12. "Deadwood Park" laugh.gif Brilliant! Not only incredibly funny but original as well.

2-1 Rovers. We sign off in style.

Chelsea’s best striker, Fossil, opens the scoring on 21 mins with a right footed drive in off the post at the Blackburn End. Half time arrives and it's then that everyone notices that Jonathan Douglas and Damian Johnson had swapped shirts in the first half and had played for the wrong teams. Normal service is resumed and they swap back in the second half. No one notices.

Steadinho breaks his goal drought on 70 mins - avoiding a crisis in confidence in doing so. A 30 yard volley in off the post.

That's how things remain until the 94th minute when Rovers are awarded a penalty when "Tiny" Taylor brings Cole down in the area by throwing a chair at him. The referee really does have no option but consults his linesman first.

Souness cracks up again and continues with his Basil Fawlty impressions from the Spurs game on the touchline. Meanwhile on the pitch no one has a clue what to do with a penalty. Enks comes to the rescue - he's read about these in a book or something and smashes the ball home in off the post. No pressure Enks - it's only worth a million quid that one.

  13. Except that his first choice was Brian McBride.

Yeah I know. Let it go. It's happened. Enjoy it. We're stopping up, we've a cracking player up front in Stead, we've Gallagher coming through as well, we've just beaten Man Utd, those clowns down the M65 are in a right old mess, we're getting rid of some of the "dead wood" in the summer and may even get a couple of good players in, including a left winger.

It's not easy for some of us I know, but just try being happy for a bit! biggrin.gif

  14. Souness watched plenty of videos of strikers in that time, and was impressed by what he saw.  I'd have thought that our scouts would have checked him out before then as well to help in the decision, but he probably had little time to check him out personally.    I think it was Bob Fleming who mentioned that he saw a set of clips on sky sports when he signed, which included him scoring with his left, right, head and all well taken finishes.    We basically stole him from Sunderlands hands, look back at the comments from Bob Murray around that time as they were not happy.

That's right Ste. He looked good enough for me and that's just from a two minute clip of his goals on Sky Sports. Sure, Souness should have given me a call to ask for a second opinion (we don't have wide screen) but ultimately it's all turned out nice in the end and every credit to him for that. There's plenty to criticise or argue about the man but the signing of Steadinho surely isn't an issue.

  15. i hope people arn't going to be sat down as soon as the ref blows for kick off. worse thing is when your sat behind sum miserable @#/? shouting 'sit down, i cant see'

Oh you opened up a real cans of worms now!

    why's that!!??

Ben - if you bring that ruddy air horn and you're in front of me in the ground I can assure you that you won't be able to sit down anyway.

  16. I'm with Trooper on this one - they need to get Johnny Bond back to finish what he started.

I think it's great news. I can't see who they're going to get in who will do as well as Stan. He's done very well with loan signings and no cash. Whoever it is they won't look as good in leggings. laugh.giflaugh.gif

    Oh well.

  17. We're going Preston to Euston. 8.20 depart - arrive 11.59. But your "west coast line" thing has distrubed me. Do you know somehting I don't?

Reading the beggining of this thread i think its something to do with the stafford area.

Im gonna ring them and try book onto that one from preston, should be ok.

Right you are. Thought I'd missed something.

  18. Ok its gonna be a good day i have to go.

Whats the story with the trains!?

I know about the west coast line so i take it i have to go from Blackpool-Preston-Picadilly-Euston?

    Anyone sorted it?

And how easy is it to get to Euston from WHL. Never been to spurs.

  19. How many inflatables are left at roverthemoon is there plenty?

I went yesterday for beach balls and arm bands. You'll be laughing for arm bands but I couldn't find many beach balls, so I'd get a move on. There's an inflatable smiling Dwight Yorke in there as well - bit on the expensive side I thought.
