  1. You will never be happy until everybody owns a Motorhead album :)

But what a way to do it eh? You really can't go wrong

As for the gig - no I can't make it - I mean Monday for God's sake - in Manchester. They should just play KGH instead for my convenience. Besides my ears are still ringing from 2 years ago.

  2. For fans of Metal / Punk - may I take this opportunity to recommend Motorhead's box set "Stone Deaf Forever" that's just been released. 5 CD's, 99 tracks - 19 unreleased old songs - digitally remastered and all that caper. Cost £ 42.00 - cheap as chips if you ask me. Play loud and nothing will ever sound the same again.
  3. I really did think they sounded like Saxon or Iron Maiden when I heard them and I didn't understand why the dj playing them nearly had an orgasm!

Probably 'cause the DJ realy liked / likes Saxon and Iron Maiden!!  For me though they're Whitesnake.

As someone who buys the NME I'm now in two minds as to buy the new Stokes album - I'm sick of bloody reading about them.

Looking forward to hearing the Jet album though - ordered over tinterweb and should arrive anyday. A "brand new sound" or something - a cross between AC/DC and The Rolling Stones - if that's not a good advert I don't know what is.

  4. Saturday was the first time I'd bought something you could class as Metal for probably 10 years. I picked up Metallica's St Anger. Absolutely brilliant. The free DVD of a rehearsal for the album in Metallica's studio 'The Sanitorium' was really interesting. Revealing insight into what makes a good band tick, i.e. after all these years they're all still best mates, really enjoy their music and know how to have the craic.

The album sounds like utter s***, a 5 year old could have produced it better with a dictaphone and a couple of bricks.   The DVD does sound much better, and I can imagine some of the songs (esp Invisible Kid) work really well live.

Must admit that the production isn't the best - again. "...And Justice For All" suffered due to crap production as does this. Lars' insistence on smacking a metal bar against another metal bar throughout isn't a good ploy in my book.

Saw them on MTV2 the other week though and they were awsome, including the new stuff.

Why don't bands just record stuff as though its live? It always sounds better.

  5. Looks like my better half and I will be going over for two nights. Likely to stop in Dublin though.

Fortunate enough to have been to Dublin a couple of times - a great place to visit. No need to eat just drink the black stuff. Temple Bar is the place to be but is more your commercial side of the City.

Strange but true but I've been to Bray before - went on the Dart. Was advised to go and have a look as its a really nice place. When we went it rained all day - found a couple of good pubs and then hot footed it back to Dublin. Not the biggest place in the world so I'd advise stopping nearer to Dublin.

The view from the Dart is breathtaking in that the route goes along the edge of some cliffs and it feels as though you're actually out at sea - bit like the Big One at Blackpool but cheaper and not as quick. One day they'll be a disaster you can bet on it.

No doubt meet up with some of you who are travelling over.

  6. I must admit Motorhead's "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith" is a quality live album.  I just love the versions of Overkill and Bomber  - brilliant.  Other fav live albums are "Live at the Royal Albert Hall" by Spiritualized, Marquee London MCMXCI by The Cult and who can forget "Floating Anarchy" by Planet Gong (top album, I spent many of evenings "listening" to that).  Of course, side 4 of "Stations of the Crass" is good live one if you like a bit of Anarcho-Punk. Top Banana!

    Ste

Buy "No Sleep Til Hammersmith" - Play Track 1 - Turn up very loud. Nothing sounds the same ever again. The best live album of all time.

Ramones "It's Alive" is fantastic also. As is the Ramones "Live in Barcelona" (bootleg? who cares). Tremendous stuff.

    Recently been listening to:-

    Queens of the Stone Age

    Coldplay (hasn't everyone)

    The MC5

    New Order

    The White Stripes' Elephant

    The Story of the Clash

  7. It's like the Worthy Cup final - where've they all gone ?  30,000 of them and I bet there's 5,000 who haven't been to a game since.

The next big game is the Celtic match. These "5000" may well fancy another trip to watch their club. So what do Rovers do? Well they don't even give them the option to come and watch.

Its nothing short of a disgrace for us to give Celtic the entire Darwen end.

"Get behind the club / Support your home town team" - no sorry we're not giving you the option - here you go Celtic 8000 tickets for you - and please don't sit in our home areas will you.

Sorry - this doesn't wash. Celtic fans will try and buy tickets in home areas - as others have mentioned, they've a large fanatical following. But for Rovers to not even try selling these tickets to their own fans first is diabolical.

Give Celtic 3000. Maybe we won't sell all the tickets in the home ends. If we don't, let them have more tickets.

Am I making things too simple here? Why can't the club use this database they've built up to ensure that the tickets are going to the correct people. Why couldn't fans buy tickets on production of a utility bill showing that they're from the Blackburn area.

Make a big point - if fans buy tickets for the wrong areas they'll be kicked out. If season ticket holders sell tickets to Celtic fans - ban them.

If the club is able to eject Rovers fans for standing up then I'm sure they'll have no problems in ejecting fans for being in the wrong area of the ground.

I too am sick of hearing about the Man City game of a few seasons back. This is a totally different proposition. Any Rovers fan worth his/her salt would love to watch this game. The club must give people the chance.

Sorry to put a spanner in the works but not all rovers fans live in blackburn, sorry if that comes as a bit of a shock to you.....

Well thanks for stating the bleeding obvious but I'm sure that you understand the point I'm trying to make.

There has to be a way of getting tickets to Rovers fans irrispective of where they live.

    What do you propose?
