They’re not going to sell Diaz, are they? 15M up the wall…

Apologies if its been mentioned, but apparently Everton hade had an initial offer of 17.5m accepted by Rovers. They are now waiting to see if they will make a formal offer.

  2. Hayden Carter:

Portsmouth fans loved him at Fratton Park, what adhered him to the fan base so quickly?

His quality and how quickly he adapted to Danny Cowley's playing style. Due to injuries, suspension and inconsistency, Pompey chopped and changed systems a fair bit and when they used a back three, which became the norm more so in the second half of the season, someone to play on the right of the three centre-backs was needed. Carter filled that role very comfortably, having thrived in a similar role at Burton Albion earlier in the season. He wins tackles and is so technically gifted, both with his passing and his movement. He may be built like a centre-back, but sometimes his movement was more reminiscent of a winger.

What are the best parts of his skill set?

Versatility was a plus point. As mentioned, he was defensively sound, but on a number of occasions, he played as a right-back in a back four and did well there. Very keen to get forward and overlap and attack like a modern-day defender. He also has a long shot in him, scoring a screamer from long range against Oxford as well as going close on many other occasions. He was also one of Pompey's best crossers last season.

Mate surely you didn't think we'd be blowing minimum £3.5M a year on Barkley... And the. People even quoted it saying they had sources at the club saying he was there... Think they're much worse than me.

Surely can have a bit of fun whilst we are linked with frankly bleak rumours.

Or we can keep it serious?

At the moment his wage is ZERO, NADA, NIX

In his first two seasons BBD scored a massive 2 goals in 40 games, season after 7 in 40.

so we replaced Armstrongs 20 goals with some one with 9 goals in 80 games. Point being that who knows what this kid can produce at this level but he had a really good run in league 1 and was scoring a goal a game after Christmas so maybe decent after all

I find it kind of funny that other names being touted as good signings such as Ryan Hardie who has almost exactly the same stats.

Think the plan an line up after the window may look like this if Diaz goes

                                   Kaminski

                    Ayala         SVBD.         Hyam

    Brittain                                                        Styles

                           Travis        Morton

           Hedges            Dack             Bowler

I will be fuming if this is plan. Where are our own prospects?

Now we have Hyam I'd rather we left VDB honestly. Those squad places in 4th, 5th choice are exactly where the younger lads like Carter and Phillips should be and getting loans in to stunt their development is something we need to stop doing.

Ayala, Hyam, Wharton, Carter and Phillips should be fine for CB. Let's get some creativity or finishing with that loan instead.

Nixon now saying Schalke made late move for van den berg! Liverpool to decide where he goes. Would like him but think 5 cbs would be enough even if playing 3 at the back. Just means nobody leaves on loan . Would also free up money for another position

Going to be a busy few days

Agree with both and why I asked how many loans we are allowed.

I don't want us using energy, personell and resources to develop one of Liverpools youngsters when we can focus on our own.

After seeing Bournemouth getting beat 9-0 I don't know if I want us to get promoted 😉

That’s what it looks like to me. He was a fall back option.

Which actually made sense. Happy we got Hyam though.

He ticks most boxes. Well done by the recruitment team and I think everyone that believes deals are done quickly take a look at United with De Jong, Antony and several other players. It takes time.

I think Rovers have been very very very good at keeping things tight. NO ONE knew that we had approached Coventry about Hyam before last week. Brittain came out of nowhere. Same with Smodicz.

Now it will be extremely interesting to see if BBD goes and who we actually have lined up.

I’m not sure where you’ve got this from, but it sounds on the website as if we tried for him early and where told no. Then they came back to us last week and said he was now available. So we turned it around in maximum 5 working days.

This seems legit as it looks like Caulker was an alternative for us, but got sent back to Turkey when our first option became available.
