ok, not come here for a couple days and cant bve assed scrolling - can someone pls just summarise any transfer activity? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hyam fee agreed according to everyone besides Nixon  who reports it is dependant on BBD leaving.

    2. Caulker has gone back to Istanbul. Wont happen.
    3. We are interested in Leicester City striker George Hirst who was on loan at Pompey last season. Loan or permanent for us.
    4. SVDB and JPVH still not formalized in any way.
    5. Reports that we Are getting an attacker on loan.
    6. Nothing New about BBD

archer was at preston last season🤣he`s not exactly haaland

coventry are skint, though i admit he could be out of our reach

hardie is a proper target man, good finisher and good header of the ball as well

Hardie has really similar stats too Hirst.
Hardie Goal per minute 184 mins.
Hirst goal per minute 188 mins.

Hardie scored 16 and Hirst 13.

he has started the season with Leicester U21s well

Hayden Carter will know him from playing with him at Pompey as well.

Terrible signing if true .. thought they moved on he’s just a younger version of Gally but scores even less at this level .. another kid

    How come?

Talking to my Portsmouth mate' he says Hirst a real grafter, handful and clinical, he says they were quoted £5 mill when they wanted to make it permanent

He looked like the type we need. More of a  striker than Gally. Despite his height he isnt that good as a number 9.

I don’t even know where to start with that claptrap from Nixon but here goes:

    1. If Hyam deal is contingent on a Diaz sale, why did we bid with money that we don’t yet have? Why did Mark Robins say he’d gone to Rovers just yesterday?

    2. If Diaz was so close to going on Thursday as he claims, why did JDT say in his presser on Friday that nothing was close and why did he play yesterday?

Total tripe on so many fronts I think.

And Why is the bid accepted, but we Are looking to increase it. Charity?

If the George Hirst thing is real, then JDT/Broughton have identified the need for a focal point in attack, at least. Clear aerial threat and 100% a big, strong striker.

A big jump from L1 to Championship, but for everyone who wants that focal point, he’s an option.

Looks exactly like the type of striker we need. Would complement the Attributes of the current crop. Comes with a risk, but seems a risk worth taking.

Why can't Markanday and Hedges be included?

They didn't play hardly.Hedges has contributed more in 3 matches this season than he did between signing and the end of last season.Markanday got injured and was only available for a couple of matches.

I personally don't feel we are stronger than last season yet but we ain't in as bad a shape as some are making out.

Last summer the same conversations were taking place.."the squad isn't as strong as the year before" "relegation battle to look forward too" yet that squad finished 7 places above the squad from the previous season

Markanday was 15 minutes I think? The boy comes with Europa League/Champions League experience (cant remember). His stats against Bradford was very good.

i said it last year when we signed him that this is the kind of signing I want us to do, young, hungry and with bags of potential.

Fair enough.  As Rich Sharp said in the quoted tweet earlier.  Judge the window on the quality of the new signings against those they replace.  Which again, is all about opinions 😂.

    So far  for me:

Brittain is at least as good if not better than Nyambe.

Hyam is on a parr with Lennihan and probably Van Hecke (at this stage of his career).

    No idea who Morton replaces.

I'd have both Rothwell and Khadra ahead if Szmodic - especially at the reported fee.

Next 2 signings will make it or break it.

I think Morton replaces Clarkson and Johnson in one. Upgrade.

Too many question marks and risks though isn't there?

Hedges has been sensational so far this season, but lo and behold gets injured after 3 games, and its very early days as to whether he is as good as Rothwell.

Markandy - far too many questions there - I'm yet to see anything that suggests he is ready for the requirements of the Championship

Smodicz - jury definitely still out but not looking great at this point

Dack - not being played so as you were with him and question marks over whether he will get back where he was.

I'm not suggesting 'piling up' with 'journeymen' (though Caulker would fit that criteria) - I'd be content for a couple of the gaps to be filled with loans or younger end additions - but think we are taking a lot of risks and gambles if we are leaving it at 3. I shouldn't be surprised because don't think there was ever any intention to do more than the minimum on bringing players in and hoping those already here step up to the mantle.

The question to be asked is whether the squad is stronger than the one we had last season. I don't think anyone can argue that it is. We've had a good start and might have a much better manager, but the squad is not stronger and doesn't have as many options or depth. That' alone tells me the summer window has been a poor one to date.

I agree a lot with What you Are saying. I think the difference between us is that I am prepared to take a risk in our own young players and develop them instead of taking a risk in bringing in New players.
