  1. "EDIT: Oh, and Kalinic looks bloody good. Have you not been watching him?! "

I didn't say that, is he or is he not a gamble? 6million we spent on him, he needs to start proving his worth (which he has in recent weeks).

"Di santo may be a flop but he is only 20 and leading the line is a tough job,he has pace, skill, awareness and is good in the air with the right coaching he will come good. To right him off already is tripe and comparing him to dickov and kuqi is daft."

He has done that good a job he is now slowly dropping down the starting order line? And yes it is daft to compare him to Kuqi and Dickov, they both got double figures while they were here.

Change Di Santo's name to Ben Smith and we signed him from Swindon and all this 'he will come good' stuff wouldn't exist. People are living on hype built up by nicko's opinion when we signed him, the fact he plays for chelsea and because he has a nice foreign name.

Did Kuqi, Dickov and co have pace, skill, awareness and were good in the air? Correct me if I am wrong but were they not on the wrong side of 20 when they joined us?

Do you not think that if a player possessed the attributes described at the age of 20, then potentially they could be a top class player?

I think it is daft to compare to the players mentioned as potentially Di Santo could be a world class player, if he was scoring goals then he would be a £15+ million player.

  2. Again based on what? His amazing goal scoring record? His amazing assists tally?

He has a half decent first touch and runs around alot, and thats about it. He has never been a decent goal scorer (just look at his returns for past clubs). We alreadly have one massive gamble on the go with Kalanic, to spunk another 5million up the wall on someone like Di Santo.

Di Santo has 15 starts, 3 sub appearances and has 1 goal to his name. Im sorry but that is a joke for someone who calls themself a premiership striker. Even tripe like Dickov and Kuqi scored ALOT more than that.

And on Pongolle no i wouldn't, 5 starts and 8 sub appearances and only has 1 goal to show for it.

Di santo may be a flop but he is only 20 and leading the line is a tough job,he has pace, skill, awareness and is good in the air with the right coaching he will come good. To right him off already is tripe and comparing him to dickov and kuqi is daft.

  3. Mourinho upsets the muslims....

It usually doesn't take much for them to get their knickers in a twist. But well done to Jose for not being rigidly politically correct and not being too frightened to speak his mind.

The source of muslim anger on this occasion is that Mourinho has dared to question whether it's right for his Ghanaian Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari to undertake fasting during Ramadan.

Mouinho made a very early substitution midway through the first half of Inter Milan's match against Bari, taking Muntari off the field, and then angered muslims afterwards by saying that Muntari lacked energy because he had been fasting during Ramadan.

Mourinho is only doing his job as manager - for which he is highly paid - and he has the perfect right to be concerned about one of his player's nutrition and energy levels.

Nutritionists say that hydration is a major issue in sports and can affect aerobic capacity, strength and power. Another muslim player in Italy, the Algerian Abdelkader Ghezzal, says that he breaks his fast on match days and only observes the fast during his days off, when there are no games or training.

If any muslim footballers are fasting throughout the period of Ramadan, including match days, then clearly this would have an adverse effect on a player's energy levels.

I remember that there was outrage on this website from one or two of the usual suspects when I happened to mention in a post a few months ago that El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf - to give him his full name - and his former Bolton team-mate Nicholas Anelka were both muslim footballers. But clearly Mr Mourinho thinks that it's a relevant issue in terms of what a player does during Ramadan. I agree with him.

I'd be curious to know what exactly does Mr Diouf do during Ramadan and whether he fasts throughout the whole period or just on his days off. Rovers are paying the Senegalese player a lot of money in wages and it would be interesting to know whether he puts his religious beliefs ahead of his energy levels for Blackburn Rovers.

Link: Mourinho angers muslims over Ramadan

You are of course right, it does not take much for them Muslims to get upset and it is also common knowledge when ONE Muslim voices an opinion he/she speaks on behalf of ALL Muslims, in the same way Mourinho speaks on behalf of all Non Muslims

Seriously though loving the article, Mourinho has an opinion voices it (rightly so) and a newspaper creates a sensational headline, Muntari is fasting during Ramadan- that is his right, it is not obligatory for him, so maybe Inter need to speak to him about it, what did the bloke speaking on behalf of Muslims (!) say:

"I think Mourinho could do with talking a little less," he said. "A player who practices Islam does not perform less on the pitch." WOW that is SOO controversial!

  4. Don't waste your energy Hughesy.

The usual suspects (joined by some unusual ones) have whipped themselves up in to a frenzy of indignation about the latest media w*nk.

You'll just have to wait until the smelling salts begin to take effect and they've calmed down a bit.

Joey Barton has shown that he is not capable of changing. Put aside all the assaults (which can I just add I find sad that some are downplaying someone stubbing a cigar in someones eye and assaulting a teenager), his behaviour on the field is poor. If (as some have already said), the manager of your club (the ones who have been paying your wages and supporting you whilst you were in prison), gives you a dressing down after being sent off, it defies belief that you start ranting off him!! What is going to happen if Sam tells him to play a certain position or gives him a rollocking? A wrong signing on so many different levels- and I will add that I was for the signing of El Hadj, we must judge each individual case.

  5. I have thought a lot about this and I think that Barton should not be at our club, regardless of his obvious talent.

Diouf has been a s*** in the past but you cannot compare a spitter with someone who has stubbed someones eye out with a cigar or beaten up 15 year olds, this would not set a good benchmark for the club and I sincerely hope that JW has enough about him to simply say 'no' to Sam's request- if there is one.
