  1. Spot on there mate, I'm guilty too. Jesus & Mary Chain - Honey's Dead Mea Culpa
  2. Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention - "Uncle Meat"
  3. Van Der Graaf Generator - Killer That'll limit another post unless "Van" bings up "Morrison" or "Van Vliet." And why are people posting completely unconnected titles?
  4. "At Home" by Bill Bryson. I don't suppose that he is everyone's cup of tea but, to my mind, he's a wonderful, warm & friendly writer and brings all kind of interesting and wonderful things into a book. In this case its just about the evolution of the basic British house/home. He flits here and there and brings in all manner of interesting facts from all over the place. For example: terrace houses used to be built with the joists parallel to the road, but these were fire hazards as the fires spread, so the joists were laid at 90 degrees to the road. It's that kind of detail that I love.
  5. Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
  6. I'm still thawing out from that one. It was a brilliant game . Craig Hignett's fourth was aimed right at my face, beautiful free kick. I had to enjoy the company of Trotters' fans back on the train to Bolton. Somewhere south of Westhoughton station I allowed myself to break into a big grin.
  7. Gav (& anyone else who is interested,) I think it's quite likely. My old man, who is now in his mid-eighties, and has always been reticent about his younger days in Blackburn, recently told me that he and his mates used to often cycle from Blackburn over the Trough Of Bowland for a day out in Morecambe or Blackpool. That must have been one hell of a trip on a heavy bike with probably no, or Sturmey Archer three speed, gears. And no modern weather clothing. So, it's quite possible that Rovers' fans walked back from Bury to Ewood, & walked from Blackburn to Blackpool. Different times, different attitudes. Different attitudes to getting from A to B. I'm quite happy to walk back the five miles from a night out to my home. Some people think I'm bonkers to not get a taxi. Moving times, moving attitudes, moving perceptions of what is normal. With apologies for diverting this thread. Colin
  8. Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band - "Neon Meate Dream Of A Octafish" (From "Trout Mask Replica" in case you are interested: you may not be)
