Because it’s simply an unknown. I’m fairly sure the return of Hedges, Hyam, JRC, Gallagher, Pears and Dolan might have given JDT a bit of a chance to stop the slide.

Hardly a convincing argument in a few cases there, and yes, it’s just my opinion. Look at the number and the manner of defeats in the period before JDT left.
Also, Eustace hasn’t had the luxury of having Adam Wharton at his disposal.

We had a 7 point buffer when he came in.(I think)

As above, we were dropping like a stone.

Slightly positive opinion incoming. We will survive next week and we will be grateful for the scrappy home points we’ve scraped together against Norwich, Southampton, Plymouth, Millwall and Coventry. It’s not been great and there have been some catastrophic performances along the way but we have amassed 50 points which is more than enough in most years and it will take a fairly unlikely (not very unlikely I accept) set of results to see us relegated next week. Eustace rightly won’t get a lot of credit, but he’s not been Eusless as the squad he inherited was completely bereft of confidence and ability. Yes you should beat a tired Coventry side down to 10 men, but they have good players and regularly score late and perform against the odds. Losing would have made next week significantly more perilous.

It’s black and white as far as I’m concerned.
If we stay up, Eustace has done his job for this season, and if we go down he’s failed.

We were on a one way ticket to relegation when he took over,(cue cries of blasphemy from JDT disciples).

Don't think you need a tinfoil hat tbh. It is deliberate because they don't spend any money.

I can’t stand Venkys as much as the next Rovers fan, but if the intention was to deliberately get relegated , (no-one told Szmodics by the way), why get into a position where it is dependent on other results in the final game?

With Hull still in with a chance of overtaking WBA I think them getting something at Plymouth is the best chance of a result going in our favour

I agree, apart from helping ourselves (which we aren’t good at), that game looks to be our best hope.

If Hull hadn’t score that late equaliser (excellent game) I’d be forlorn.

Give either of those managers 6 months at Ewood and they'll both want to quit.

Then when they start to underperform drastically to the detriment of the players and any league position neither will be fired for a very very long time.

^ The life of a Blackburn Rovers supporter... that many are happy with 🙂

I’m obviously hoping it goes well today, but if it doesn’t it will kick off, and I’ll end up arguing with the happy clappers who sit behind me.

No they have three left after tonight, but when you play a rival for your target. Those are must win games.

Coventry have three games remaining after this evening’s fixture. Notwithstanding this, If they lose tonight then they aren’t making the play offs.

Three after this evening. Rovers, Ipswich, QPR

Apologies, I stand corrected, (but they are b*ggered anyway).

Will that help us on Saturday?
It should, but we are our own worst enemy.

That's not how I see it. 1-2 down at the moment on 63 points, with three games to play, so if they win all three and Norwich lose their final two then Coventry finish on the same points with a deficit of 3 goals to make up, which shouldn’t be a problem especially with a game against us.

Yes, three including this evening. To have any chance they need to win all three, including this one.

Still can't believe how many no fucks given and not a care in the world attitudes before last night's undeserved awards

Should be a no distraction week and fully focused on the cov game , not blowing smoke up there fragile egos when a huge important game coming up.

If there are awards do it when it's over ffs.

Be too busy sorting another club for next season or enjoying a nice holiday then.

I have now watched it (couldn't bring myself to yesterday) and oh my goodness.

Apparently there are people suggesting there is something suspicious about it on social media. I am not too sure myself, although he didn't seem to attempt to save it, after the error.

I think it’s too farcical to be suspicious.

That clip will entertain people around the Globe.

I think he just went into a complete panic and froze.

Impressive spin he got on the ball. Nathan Lyon would’ve been happy with it.

I didn't see the game yesterday, as I was on a flight and can't bring myself to watch the highlights.

I think there is a strong possibility that Coventry will have nothing to play for and just hope we can get the first home win under Eustace.

It is on a knife edge for me and I really do fear the worst now.

    Depends on their midweek result.

    Lets hope they don't win.

I should add, Coventry's performance in the cup yesterday will obviously make it look a daunting task for Rovers to beat them, but it is doable...Birmingham beat them 3-0 last weekend.

Exactly. Even we looked good against Newcastle, but the circumstances are completely different.

I think a lot will depend on how Coventry get on in midweek.

If they win, they still have an outside shot of the Play Offs.

We could do with Hull popping their balloon.

As II said a couple of pages back, lose all 3 and we deserve to go down. There is a very serious chance of that happening now, as the easiest of those games has now been played and of course we managed to lose that in spectacular fashion.

It was a shocking performance and result yesterday, but I would argue that next Saturday's game is potentially 'easier', because the opposition may have nothing to play for, (depending on their midweek result).

Wednesday were always going to come out and scrap.

It will be what our players make it, and we need the spirit of Leeds away, rather than the standard home garbage.

They’ve won 1 of their last 6 matches and are 22nd in the form table (for that period)

That is certainly worse than I had thought, but they are 8th in the form table over the last six away games.

Wednesday have done well to even still be in with a realistic shout of staying up when you consider the start they had.

It should be a really interesting watch (although only on replay for me because of work).

100% agree, they have nothing to lose sheff weds, and they simply wont go away, they have a feel of the great escape about them. I fear the worst even after Saturdays heroics. We haven't proven to do heroics consecutively. Id snap hands off for a draw right now. Going to be a nervy saturday i feel. Hope im wrong though and that our confidence sweeps them away, but head says no.
Each transfer window seems to be massive for us as a club atm, feels like we are constantly hanging by a thread all the time.

Indeed, and we now have Mr Broughton suddenly finding his voice and covering his backside with the supporters by saying (reading between the lines) I've done my bit and told the board / owners they need to invest.

Will they listen / will such investment actually be possible ? Probably not.

You speak as if asking for a home win is me being needlessly pedantic.

Any win will do. We are playing 2nd bottom at home, the important thing is to win a very winnable game and seal survival. But its Eustace's 7th go at winning at Ewood, forget the must not lose stuff, lets actually win a game at home.

Wednesday maybe 2nd bottom, but their current form isn't and they are fighting relegation very hard.

As for what happens now being an indicator for next season, Barnsley got to the Play Offs a few seasons ago, then got relegated the following season.

What happens in terms of player loss and recruitment will shape next season.

Yes, we obviously want to win, but a draw will suffice for the bigger picture.
