You know what will happen in the summer. Pray that Broughton or whoever can find the new SS/BB/AA.

Well, yes, the shitshow will continue, but at least (hopefully) with the standing of a club in the upper echelons of English football.

Who knows, maybe Dr Who can form a consortium with Davros and the Master 😉

    Agreed.

I don't really understand the level of antipathy towards Eustace. It's not his fault he isn't JDT and it isn't Eustace's fault he has ended up here either as the former walked out on us in any event. Albeit totally understandably.

I think some of the flak has been completely OTT and disproportionate.

Without doubt, the fact that he’s not JDT (I think some have a shrine in their spare bedroom, complete with life size manikin), and that Waggott (reportedly) recruited him have influenced thinking.

If we’d been hopeless it would be justified, but on the whole he’s steadied the ship and we’ve been competitive in most games.

The one criticism is his win percentage, but even that is on an upward trajectory of late.

People talk about him not having the baggage that JDT did, but he’s had to come in and work with what was already here.

IF he keeps us up, he’s achieved his goal, and then we all wait and see what happens in the Summer.

Exactly, and that’s not even taking account of Brum, Stoke, QPR, Plymouth who are also all below us and worse GD bar Plymouth. We’re safe and we can get back to seething about shambolic transfer windows and how little we’ll invest in the summer!

I’d hesitate to go that far just yet.

A few of the teams beneath us have winnable fixtures next Saturday.

Undoubtedly, our position now looks a good deal healthier.

Worth noting that without the thrashing at Bristol, we wouldn't have won today.

    You are probably right.

What a difference 65 hours makes!

The thing is, most of our recent games have been very tight, and in that respect the Sunderland win and Bristol City loss were both odd.

An absolutely fantastic result today, under extreme pressure.

    Hopefully, a defining moment.

What I don't like about JE is that he set out his stall from the day he arrived that he's just a venkys yes man.

Eustace has managed to get two of his own backroom team through the door, and I'd wager he had to fight for that.

I'm not sure that lines up with him being a "yes" man.

He hasn't , to date, made any comment about Venky's, and has basically said he's just getting on with the job and avoiding the politics.

He's been pragmatic, rather than spectacular, but even the likes of Pep and Klopp would have to go down that route here.

There are signs that he and his coaching staff have ideas and methods to improve players individually, and more of a threat from set pieces.

He turned down a Dutch club and a Swiss club in just 18 months in charge of us. He'll find another gig very easily when he wants it.

He MIGHT get another Championship gig, but I'm sure he'd be much more discerning this time.

…. Exactly the sort of places I envisage his next gig to be at.

When one or two of the bigger Championship clubs had vacancies earlier in the season, they did not fancy JDT.

He did well last season, but did not have tangible success, and then struggled this season, admittedly with mitigating circumstances, but hard luck stories don’t cut any ice in professional sport.

His only tangible success to date is in Scandinavia, hence the Swedish National gig.

Agreed, I'm a big fan of JDT, but we were down if he stayed.

The QPR game was the final straw for me - he was just being arrogant and stubborn and refusing to adjust his tactics for the squad of players he had available and sadly he'd lost the dressing room.

I think he'll go on to achieve good things in the game (more than Eustace will), but his relationship here had soured.

    We’ll see.

I think he might do ok back in Scandinavia, but I’m not convinced he’ll get another chance on these shores.

He was undoubtedly more sinned against than sinner, but you are right to say that he was stubborn, and I firmly believe he was cut a great deal of slack because of his persona.

I think even with Tomasson in charge, we would have been more likely than not to get them

    That is where I disagree.

i think we would’ve gone down had Tomasson stayed.

Eustace’s results haven’t been great, but they are better than Tomasson’s had been over a sustained period.

We were cannon fodder and it’s pretty obvious that he had lost the dressing room.

We haven’t won enough games to get clear under Eustace, but he has made us harder to beat.

Hopefully, that will be enough come May.

We should limp over the line which I don't think would be a particularly impressive achievement really considering the buffer Eustace came in with

What is evident is that you really don’t like Eustace and haven’t got over JDT leaving.

Look at the results for a sustained period leading up to JDT’s departure. They were truly shocking and we looked like relegation on a stick.

We couldn’t defend to save our lives - one of the worst defensive records in the league.

We didn’t get any new manager bounce, but compare that to Millwall who did, but are now really struggling again.

We are fighting and grinding out results, (Sunderland excepted), which is our realistic path to safety.

The job is far from done, but we look far more likely to stay up now than we did just before JDT left.

Different context - a cup tie refers to the actual game. A draw is the result.

I’ve got a few more ties than that. Unfortunately the last time I wore one was the usual black one for a funeral earlier this year.

Whereas in cricket, a tie is also a possible result, (often confused with a draw).

Anyway, let’s hope for some rare home cheer tomorrow, rather than ‘after the lord mayor’s show’.

I get his point but the way it is reported, he doesn't endear himself to those who have concerns with the bigger picture at the club, rather than just the result on match day.

I don’t think he’s talking about the bigger picture, (ie the ownership), on this occasion.

He’s basically asking for a bit of patience with the recovery of fortunes on the pitch, and I agree with him.

The stats in the article are telling, particularly the ones before his arrival, and there have been small steps in the right direction even before Monday.

If he keeps us up he’s done his job.

Then we would have to see what happens during the Summer, (very low expectations).

me to ,we were completely, truthfully skint in the 80`s but everyone was in it together, while bolton, burnley and preston were languishing in the bottom division we were sitting in the top half of the then 2nd division with gallant attempts at  promotion on a shoestring,we were run properly by people who actually cared

And even in the seasons where we struggled there was always a feeling of hope for the future.

It's difficult to argue with the points you make. I think in general the majority of football fans live in hope that their club will be successful but very few are. Through all the torrid years under this lot I still somehow look forward to match days and the possibility of that winning feeling. And as such I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow and see that as a chance of winning.

Fair enough, but I'm afraid I've now gone past that stage and simply cannot see any hope unless/until these owners go.

It's not just about not being in the Premier League, either.

I was there in the 80's, but in those days we were owned and run by people who cared about the club and it's supporters.

This is just shit, on and off the pitch.

    It's futile.

I attend to see Rovers hopefully win as I believe lots do. Winning a game gives a great feeling to many and every game is another opportunity to win.

That's a given, but winning has become very rare, and miserable journeys home have become the norm.

Compare how a matchday feels now to, let's say the mid noughties.

Sitting in a half empty stadium, generally devoid of atmosphere, with the lowest of expectations.

    This isn't Blackburn Rovers.

It's a parasite pretending to be it's host.

  15. I think, in the main, the people still attending are those who are prepared to put up with it due to loyalty to the club, or force of habit.

There is certainly very little stomach for a fight, and many of the people who protested in the early days of Venkys have simply stopped attending.

Not attending is the only real ongoing form of protest.

If we go down and Venkys are still here next season, the attendances will be pathetic.

With the recent news of Waggott going rogue and involving himself in both player acquisitions (at least Fleck, giving him £20pw) and directly appointing what appears to be a disastrous managerial appointment in Eustace.

And he's been consistent that the owners have always agreed to send money / assist with the club whenever asked.

You have to wonder if he has been the single point of failure over the last several years.
Did he make the decisions to let contracts run down, or to not sell players like BBD and Rothwell?
We're told 'the board' made the decision; he is paid to be the most senior member of that board.

And that's before we go into horrific season ticket strategies, or embarrassing PR releases.

The more I think about it - and the more you read into interviews by JDT and GB, the more I come to the conclusion that Waggott is THE issue at the club.

He’s certainly one of them,  but it all comes back to the owners, (who put him there).

Look at the “calibre” of his predecessors.

A succession of hired goons , and then there is the ‘real’ CEO, Suhail Pasha.
