As a manager I’d expect Mowbray to have a plan in place to replace Raya before he tells he’s no longer in his plans. It’s interesting that some think he jumped and some think he was pushed, yet in both cases Mowbray is blameless. He absolutely MUST sign a credible goalkeeper this week. Ideally somebody already signed and saying their goodbyes. Because we’ve just handed the bargaining power over to any agent that we now have to deal with - unless their client is currently out of work.

I’d expect a gk coach to live and die by the development of the players they are coaching. Our goals conceded record was amongst the worst in the division - and our number two wasn’t really any kind of threat (another red flag). I’d have expected Mowbray to have looked at a different coach before a different keeper - they are certainly a lot cheaper. That said, if the coach has gone to TM and said “look boss, he just isn’t getting it” then maybe it’s right to replace him. But that isn’t consistent with the new rumour that Raya wanted out. Mowbray has to bring in a better, more established keeper than Raya to allay our fears.

I don’t think that Mowbray has our gk position particularly well no, do you disagree? A lot of posters will defend Mowbray no matter what so I’m interested if this impacts them. Never miss an opportunity to have a dig at me though, because that’s what matters.

If Raya wasn’t going to be first choice then you would think Mowbray would know who was - or even had someone lined- up rather than some kind of Jedi mind trick motivation that backfired. If Raya was told that he would now be competing with Leutwiler to start I could understand why he would have wanted to leave. Question: does this situation reflect badly on Mowbray or not?

Trialling Adam is just a waste of time. I’m sure Mowbray thinks that he will be a good old head to have in the dressing room but if it keeps a Davenport away from the bench or if we don’t have any defensive subs, it’s a problem. I’d say using an extreme example of a five year, 50k a week deal to make a point is pretty hilarious. At 5k per week he’d be a waste of a squad place, and our squad is pretty poor as it is. We have about 12 midfielders, 3 strikers and 3 defenders. Another midfielder is not what we need. Especially one who looks like Bruce Willis’ dad.

That was the plan from the start. These kinda of games should almost have a social media blackout. They are meaningless and only about getting players back match fit. The only problem is if we get a drubbing off a minnow then it becomes an issue.
