  1. Personally, couldn't care less what Stanley do.
  2. The pitch drains into the Dougie, the problem is the Dougie rises and the drains back-up. It's a farcical design and Whelan should've spent the cash ages a go to get this sorted but I think he claims it's not the responsibility of the club. I also remember the original idea was to relay the pitch three times a year but we know what hassle that creates. There is a small rumour that lenegan has been sniffing around the Macron. I don't believe it for one minute.
  3. But we wasn't scoring goals anyway. I think we'll be okay but it'll be something like 4pts in it at the end. I hope.
  4. I'm watching Wigan through my fingers at the moment. It's the stuff of nightmares. If we don't drastically improve over the next week Leeds will tear us a new one next Friday.
  5. Yeah, signed in 93 I think, played many times with Skerrett. Martin Dermott had problems with his elbow and we had no cover (I even think Jason Robinson was tried at hooker) so Hall was signed after impressing against Wigan, went on to be starting hooker, was instrumental in the grand slam of 94-95 and played well in the victory against Brisbane in the WCC. I've just watched the vid on YouTube, camerman manages to miss the punch but you can clearly see he's well and truly sparked out, he must have punched from a short distance too. I notice some of the Rochdale speccies giving him some grief has he goes down the tunnel!
  6. I don't remember anything particular between Sampson and Cowie, Sampson broke Skerretts jaw in a prem final, he went in with the elbow. Kel got up and went looking for him but Sampson ran off. Skerrett and Cowie were both old school props; hard as they come, enforces who loved to bully the oppo pack, they never took a backward step. Very dirty though and Skerrett in particular was very bad tempered, they both were quite regularly banned. Would love to have them now, would be easily the best in SL but they'd be in NRL...or banned for the season. Not sure what Cowie is doing now, Skerrett last I heard had a pub and dabbled in brewing his own ale. last time I saw Sampson he was with the Cas academy when they were playing Wigan.
  7. If only it was still May 2014. Utter disgrace on Friday night.
  8. Injuries, ten first team players out. I see first teamers, some will have a major fight on their hands to claim a spot back. Last night was just magnificent.
  9. It has been tried, when I say tried I mean we send our youngsters over there and they pick who they want. We were suppose to have a deal with Melbourne and now NZ, none of which seems to have benefited Wigan, quite the opposite. The original idea was to have our youngsters train with a parent club and play in something like the Toyota Cup. We were also suppose to have games between the partnered clubs and access to the 9's you have down there. All I've seen is our talent going in one direction. The same happened with Sarries; a partnership that would allow players to try the different codes and stage some cross-code games using the proposed hybrid model. Again, we lost one of our best players in Joel T to them, they 'borrowed' our fitness staff and in return we used their training facility before the CC final. Sadly English RL is only going to get worse. Not long a go I would have put Melbourne, Canterbury, Manly, Souths, Wigan and Leeds as the top six clubs in RL but I'd drop the two English clubs from that now.
  10. Don't worry, I'd still allow the odd crazy golf course.
  11. The work of the Devil. Golf courses should be tax free to builders if they build new social housing on them.
  12. Incredible try. NRL is so competitive, wish we had a similar level here
  13. Thing about Koukash is he talks the talk but not much evidence of walking the, er, walk. Hansen was a good signing but from what I've been told the deal was incredible and for four years, even then if Wigan had matched the four years he'd have stayed at Wigan. Only this week they've been on about signing Kevin Locke from NZW. Okay he's not the best in the NRL but he's a dam sight better than anything Salford have had, instead they sign the turnstile that is Greg Eden from KR on loan. It all smacks of Venky's. Heard Sam played an absolute blinder against Storm today.
  14. Certainly something about him. He's thrown money at salaries and has paid well over the odds for some players yet has spent very little on the coaching side, infrastructure, youth etc.
  15. The name on the bid was his Missus but it was clearly the man himself behind it, no doubt as a way to get round the salary cap. Talks big does Koukash but there's little evidence to back it up especially when he appoints Harris as head coach.
  16. Don't think anyone knows what's going on at bradford, they seem in a permanent limbo of administration/promises/administration. The starting 13 isn't that bad but they haven't got the squad to play twice in four days and presumably morale is very low. Saying that, Wigan put out a team that consisted of some outstanding youngsters who will tear the league up in a couple of years...presuming we can keep them! I quite enjoyed it, it isn't good for the game but I still like giving good drubbing now and again especially when the kids play a big part. Bloke I know has been over in Oz and NZ, he did a training session with NZW last week. Had a good chat with Sam, says he's doing okay, Joel is going out soon. Wants to try Union in France next.
  17. I can't do it, I just can't watch a football match after a RL match, I get so angry at the football players being so dam soft!
  18. Great performance particularly the second half when the defence was tightened up. Lockers just immense but Bateman and Burgess really impressed. I said earlier in this thread that a fit Bowen is a better FB than Sam every will be. When the ground firms up and he's more familiar with the lines he'll rip team apart with ease.
  19. Bentham's bias towards the bin dippers is well know though I have to say from one angle it looked wide and the other looked good. It should've gone to the VR. Cracking draw, getting the 6 and 9 mixed up, good work lads
  20. What a bad weekend, only Chorley managing a win. Sounds like very poor discipline, not sure why that's come in. How long do you give Bowen? Watched a bit of Eels v Warriors and they had a youngish FB who looked a bit out of his depth, Tonkins or Tompkins, something like that, maybe get him in on a season loan until Hampshire is ready?
  21. Heard some talk today that Charnley's agent has been acting Charlie Big Time and making demands, Wane dropped him to show that he's far from irreplaceable.. I wonder why Burgess seems to throw-up through the game. He did it regularly when playing academy games, still, one hell of a try he scored after doing it! Mate went to the academy game, they thrashed Wakefield with Williams in particular ripping them apart.
  22. All three to NRL. Got to say that Charnley and Goulding were abysmal against Roosters, especially in defence so I'm guessing Wane has acted accordingly. I think we have enough in set-up to replace Charnley but Micky Mac would be a huge loss. I'm expecting Powell to be the next no.8 but not quite there yet. Taylor is a surprise, Id have thought he need a couple of more years in SL. Bateman looks class and I though Clubb did well.
