If we were going to go for any unattached player with a bit of injury risk then I'd be fine with it being Olsson. The lad knows the club, has pedigree at this level and plays a position we are critically weak in. I doubt he'd be asking for crazy wages at this point either.

Unfortunately he fails two major criteria:

    - Not British

    - Hasn't played for any of Tony's former clubs

So he's probably not even on our radar. But even so, if we can give the likes of Gladwin, Whittingham and Caddis multi-year deals then why not offer Olsson a 12 month deal to see if he can get back up to speed and give us a useful option on that side? Maybe we already have and he isn't interested in what we're offering, but I haven't seen anything to suggest we've even considered it.

That's the bloody problem , besides a half baked attempt to sign Bauer , we have not been linked or had  bids rejected  for anyone ...News does leak out it isntNorth Korea !

Albert Einstein said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

If Tony Mowbray says on Saturday, "Elliot, you're right back today and Charlie, make sure you keep it tight it at the back. Joe, get ready to come for the last 20 minutes" then we know that we're in trouble this season and that he needs to brush up on his Einstein quotes!

I think we are in big trouble this Saturday !

    End of !

  3. Another day passes by and nothing happening ...I am beginning to think Mowbray thought Raya was the problem , and the events of Saturday have surprised him ( I am serious )and he is left with no real answers and a ticking clock !!

The city boy was signed as a bit of back up , replacement for the departed Downing !

It is a ludicrous situation !!!!

Can't imagine we're after another striker. It would make zero sense. Our midfield and attacking options now are fine. It's defence that desperately, desperately needs upgrading. I can't see us bringing in personnel in any other positions, it would be so grossly negligent that you would have to start questioning what in the world is going on.

If that report is true , something is very wrong....Central defender a proper one Not the new breed non contact ones...A left back too before Thursday ...

FFS hopefully this is just idle gossip. I like TM I really do but the defence has been a long standing problem. I finally thought the penny dropped but his comment this week suggests otherwise. Maybe it's a smokescreen and he actually has deals in place in which case fair play to him. But if not then the sack may be on the horizon and sadly he will deserve it and I'll have no sympathy.

Suspect this is newspaper and agents !

The thing is, these issues are not only after one game, are they? They're the same problems we had last season. Some go back to the League One campaign.

Is TM going to change now or is he going to be stubborn and keep playing Bennett & Mulgrew while benching Nyambe, Rothwell, Ben and so on?

I'm just surprised there was no Richie today. Back in for the Fulham game?

That's my biggest fear Smallwood and Evans back in at Fulham !

For all our ponderous possession, how many saves did their keeper have to make?

They even gave us a chance by scoring a comedy goal for us.

The whole performance was a dog's dinner, and even a late leveller wouldn't have masked that.

Ponderous possession is an excellent , summing up !!

Its mad how much the game has evolved. Back in 95 we pretty much knew the team, barring injuries. And now? I'd be surprised if any of us get the lineup right.

Which makes playing fantasy football a nightmare! Pep roulette is mind boggling.

Different times , the best of times !!

I would like to see these new non contact defenders play against Shearer and Sutton !!!

I agree. We need competition to freshen things up when somebody is flagging or off form. You need a depth of squad to get promoted, especially as rotation will be needed for the twice weekly games and injuries. Another CB after Tosin and we could be looking good for the season.

Ps I wouldn’t be surprised if Reid doesn’t rock up next Thursday when he doesn’t get in the Southampton team.

See who leaves (midfielders)  I heard a similar tale earlier today !
