  1. There surely can be no excuses for not spending money this summer. We are told that Venkys can now send money across, barring some small "minor technical challenges"; we sold Wharton for £22m; are getting circa £4m for Raya; more TV money to the tune of around £2m; and Sammie will go for around £10-12m. That's £40m+ in revenue. I know most of that is paid in instalments but we can also pay transfer fees in instalments too.

I fully expect a summer of spending buttons, making administrative 'mistakes' on any transfer involving a fee, and signing non-entities like Telalovic, though. We are now purely all about developing young players and have been for some time. There's no ambition to get promoted.

I wouldn't give a penny to Broughton anyway. I dread to think how much money he'd waste. His record in the transfer market is atrocious. Anyone who thinks we should pay a fee for Leo, our worst GK in history, clearly does not have an eye for a player.

  2. A terrible day for QPR. I'd be getting very concerned if I was them.

We prob have done enough now but 1 more point at least would be nice. We're decent at home under Eustace - only losing to Ipswich - so I'd expect us to get a point in one of the next 2 home games.

  3. It's now between us, Birmingham, Sheff W, and Huddersfield for the final two spots. I had Plymouth to go down but that's an incredible result for them tonight and sees them safe. Fair play to them though. I see it this way:

We'll lose tomorrow and against Leicester, and draw against Sheff W and Cov. 48 points in total.

Birmingham will lose tomorrow, beat Rotherham, draw against Hudds, and draw against Norwich. 47 points.

Sheff W will win tomorrow, draw against us, beat WBA and draw at Sunderland. 49 points.

Huddersfield will draw against Bristol City, draw against Brum, win against Swansea, and lose to Ipswich. 48 points.

That would keep us up on GD but the championship is so unpredictable.  The only thing that is predictable is that we prob won't win another game so we are reliant on other results.

Your underestimating how bad the sides below us are.

Genuinely think we could lose the next 4 fairly comfortably and still stay up due to sides around us all playing each other.

I wish that was the case but there's no way we lose the next 4 and stay up.  One more win will see us safe but after how bad last night was and how bad Eustace's win record is, I'm struggling to see how we get a win with our fixture list. If we don't get another win then we go down.

B’ham have Huddersfield and Rotherham up next two matches. I would put my house on them picking up more points than we will from the next two.

Coventry, Norwich, Rotherham, Huddersfield. I cannot say see them picking up points against Cov, they'll beat Rotherham and I reckon a draw against Hudds. If Norwich have the play offs secured by the final day then i can see them getting a win. 7 points max I reckon. 7 points from 4 games is a big feat though when you're at the bottom.

Results this round do mean that Leicester have a chance of being promoted by the time we play them. If that is the case, we may have a chance of a draw there. If we beat Sheff W then we're safe. I just don't think we'll beat them. They're a very plucky team and we're not.

  6. Only positive I can take from tonight is that Brum will struggle to stay up after tonight. That's a massive loss in very winnable game. Huddersfield and Stoke got a tonking too this round of fixtures and only Millwall picked up 3 points.

If we best Sheff W then we stay up. The problem is that they have far more fight, passion, and guts than us so I wouldn't be surprised at all if they beat us. We're essentially relying on other results now. I fully expect Hudds to beat Bristol City at the weekend. You just know they'll be on there holidays after this result.
