That's kind of what I was getting at (in response to @Theaxe15 and @wilsdenrover).

I've worked with (and, admittedly, still work with) clients that are amateurish and unprofessional. It rubs off, and the motivation to do a good job can easily go out the window when your paymasters don't really care or are incompetent. Why go the extra mile? Well, there's only one reason... If it's not for the people you work for, then it's for yourself and your future opportunities - to showcase what you can do and go into a happier job where you can achieve things and, of course, earn a bit more.

I'm not saying this is what has happened, but it was just a thought based on what I've seen since January. Rovers is quite a cushy job in reality because there is still no expectation of promotion. At least not on the face of it. We are persistently telling ourselves that anything above mid-table is punching above our weight, we have no money, we're competing with parachute payments, we're on another long-term project, etc. While Tomasson might buy into the latter, I can well imagine he's come to a conclusion about who he's working with and for, and is motivated to work with and for professional, competent, people elsewhere rather than the ones we seem to have at Rovers.

Thanks for the clarification - that makes much more sense (as someone who has had managers who couldn’t  give a …😁)

Improving the pitch doesn’t fall under FFP

So in reality, if Venkys wanted to they could give us a PL standard pitch and a centre forward

The issue is that they don’t want to

Any improvements to infrastructure and facilities is considered outside of FFP if I am correct

I’m sure you’re right that they’ve not spent the money on the pitch  because they just don’t want to.

I know it shouldn’t be one or the other but I just wondered at what point (if at all) people would choose improving the pitch over improving the squad.

Id want at least a centre forward and ‘all action’ midfielder first

Only 1 mid-week match there (2 if Burnley gets moved to mid-week though that wouldn't be discounted anyway you wouldn't think).

So 3 x £25 (Norwich, Hull, Luton) 1 x £20 (Coventry) and 1 x £30 (Burnley) so saving of £26 in total. Could attend 4 out of 5 and still get better value than paying for all 5 individually.

Thanks for working that out for me.

Seem like a decent offer then, only problem is if someone can’t ‘commit’ to attending until closer to match day (date for Burnley unknown, not sure if others could still be moved)

Maybe a slight tweak would be that it’s £99 if you buy tickets to all five matches even if you do so ‘match by match’

They certainly are trying - that’s an improvement in itself

Looking at that pitch last night - what would Ewood have been like with that rain ? The quality of what you’re playing on makes a massive difference. It’s the difference between playing one touch football in areas and having to take an extra touch just to be sure the ball is where you want it to be.

This is from the Leicester city thread but it got me wondering:

At what point would you priories improving the pitch over strengthening the squad?

For example, I’d not do so ‘at the cost’ of not getting a centre forward in but I would instead of improving at left back.

Ideally of course we’d get all the players we need/want AND make the pitch better as well

It was a great night, but let's not get carried away 😃 I wonder how many of those that are now grudgingly on the JDT train after a few good performances will be jumping off again as soon as we inevitably lose a few?

It would be nice if fans generally could accept that this is actually a project, through which we are gradually improving, and just be happy about it. But I suspect many will be too fickle for that.

To accept things are improving (gradually or otherwise) you need to be able to see that things are improving (and not just be told that they are/will) - nights like last night will certainly help with this.

    Long may it continue

His public persona is quite likely very different to what he's saying and thinking privately. He could have concluded after the January debacle that this isn't what he was sold when he joined the club, that it's being run in an amateurish way by a load of second raters. If he's come to that conclusion, he'll be off sooner than we think. This is all conjecture but if he does leave at the end of the season it's very easy to see possibly why

That all perfectly possible - it’s the linking (not by you) it to our improvement in form that seems confusing (to me anyway!)
