the big clubs have now killed the history of football. Its like the weds manager moaning we got 24 hours extra for sundays game ( eustice should get in the weds head with this n all) . They all moan and groan they are tired and then sign up for worldwide games pre and in season . They want euro games to  have more teams . Its all about the wonga at the expense of the fans and certain fans on here fall for it hook line and sinker.

The romance of the cup has now gone  .Its like leicester and newcastle being midweek games . The cup was and still should be magical but its now a diluted wreck . Its going to a pub and only barbican being sold at 10 quid a go. Love a cup game but think i will sack them off now .

They’ve scrapped this part of things which I guess is something (I’m clutching at straws here)

    Sorry, ignore that - I hadn’t noticed that…

’ All rounds of the Emirates FA Cup will also be played on weekends’

    apparently isn’t contradicted by…

‘The fourth round will be played in an extended window from Friday to Wednesday’

I’m not sure if that’s my fuck up or their’s 🤔

Team selection will be interesting. Although a draw would probably be enough for us, playing for one is fatal more often than not.

I think we should set ourselves up to go for the win but we shouldn’t change things late in the game to ‘chase’ the win.

If it is level going into the last 20 Wednesday will probably feel they have to force things and, if this happens, hopefully we’ll be able to exploit the holes this will create.

How anyone can justify the extortionate Sky prices is beyond me. That is a big factor in streaming being so common now, Sky have made it unaffordable to watch sport for many people.

Those prices will likely only go up, inconvenience to matchday going fans will go up with even more games moved, attendances will go down, ticket prices will go up, wages will go up, who is winning here?

Non parachute payment Championship clubs make considerable losses. Not saying that is just down to Sky, but still.

Off on a tangent slightly. But there are no Premier League sides in the semi finals of either major European competition. Im not saying it is or isnt, but will it dampen the "best league in the world" narrative that Sky love to promote?

Apparently the Premier League being the best in the world is the reason why the Premier League clubs are struggling in Europe…

I guess that when even Championship clubs don’t take the FA Cup too seriously until the later rounds (if they get that far) then the competition has undoubtedly lost it’s excitement.

But to be pandering to the Premier League who would rather fit in with UEFA’s requirements than domestic competitions is sticking two fingers up to the smaller clubs who dream of money spinning replays at Old Trafford etc.

It isn’t even pandering to the premier league, it’s pandering to ‘the elite’ of that division.

Wednesday maybe 2nd bottom, but their current form isn't and they are fighting relegation very hard.

As for what happens now being an indicator for next season, Barnsley got to the Play Offs a few seasons ago, then got relegated the following season.

What happens in terms of player loss and recruitment will shape next season.

Yes, we obviously want to win, but a draw will suffice for the bigger picture.

They’ve won 1 of their last 6 matches and are 22nd in the form table (for that period)

If we beat Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield have to have beaten Swansea AND Birmingham need to have drawn at Rotherham to leave us needing just a point to be safe barring a 9 goal swing in the last two rounds.

If Huddersfield draw or lose, a Rovers win sees us safe. Birmingham also need to avoid defeat at Rotherham for a Rovers win not to seal safety with two to go irrespective of the Huddersfield result.

If Rovers beat Wednesday, we will be in the land of extremely unlikely probabilities to go down because not only do Huddersfield and Birmingham need to win all their three remaining games in effect, ALL of Millwall getting 2 points, Plymouth 4 pts, QPR and Stoke 5pts each AS WELL have to happen in their last 3 games.

If we draw with Wednesday, Wednesday would need to win remaining games against West Brom and Sunderland, we would need to lose the last two AND Wednesday need to make up a 17 goal difference to finish above us. If Huddersfield lose against Swansea and we draw then they too need to win their last two and us lose our last two to finish above us.

If Rovers beat Wednesday, we will be in the land of extremely unlikely probabilities to go down because Millwall will need 2 points, Plymouth 4 pts, QPR and Stoke 5pts each AS WELL from their last 3 games. A draw is probably enough.

Only defeat to Wednesday puts us back in the soup but even then all except one of Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Birmingham, Stoke, QPR and Plymouth still would need to collect more points than us across the last three games for us to go down.

If we beat Wednesday we’re safe as they couldn’t catch us and only one of Huddersfield or Birmingham could.

All credit to JE & the lads for a great win at Leeds. I reckon thats our best performance this season(along with the cup-tie against Newcastle),eclipsing the 1-5 win at Sunderland given the opposition and hostile crowd. It will live long in the memory.

A big shout out for all the supporters who made the effort so the players had a decent crowd to celebrate with.

Super Sammy Szmodics has scored 30 goals and almost single-handedly kept us up(I hope). And unlike Alan Shearer hasnt got great players to play with. Easily in the greatest 50 Rovers players of all time going back to the Victorian era. Remember he has also scored against the two Premier League clubs he has faced, and hes not even a striker. Frank Lampard eat your heart out.

    I wouldn’t go that far.

Even more crucially one game less to go, Birmingham will still need 2 positive results in their remaining 3 games even assuming we don’t pick up further points

One of which is against Huddersfield, so at least one of them will be dropping points there (obviously 😄)
