  1. Although the match seemingly wasn't enough of a major attraction to tempt you into making a trip over from Malta. Or indeed any other this season ........... or last .............. or the one before that. Please stop me when we're getting warm. That's entirely your prerogative but you're like a broken record with your constant berating of the population of Blackburn.
  2. No apologies for this being my favourite Rovers game of all time. (So far ) We might have won the title in 94/5 but to my mind played much the better football in the 2nd half of 93/4 as we actually overhauled a 16 point gap over ManUre only to fall away at the end. David Batty was absolutely exceptional during that period, despite playing part of it with a broken foot, I'd never seen us play such good stuff week in week out and probably never wll again. Before that United game I looked at our line up which (without looking it up) was I think something like Flowers Berg Hendry May Le Saux Sherwood Batty Ripley Wilcox Shearer Gallagher I'd rarely felt such a feeling of pride about a Rovers line up, I honestly felt that there was no way I would possibly want to swap a single United player for one of ours - with the possible exception of Giggs for Wilcox which was of course no slight whatsoever on the Blackburn man. I've never been so wound up for a game, screaming non stop abuse at the repulsive Schmeicel in an attempt to unnerve him. The second goal where Shearer bore down on the red nosed one and nearly took him into the back of the net with his shot has to be my favourite football moment. Outside the ground afterwards I've never known a buzz like it. Thousands of Roverites bellowing "Who the heck are Man Utd" Or similar. We may have actually won the League just over 12 months later but it was never better than that day. God bless Uncle Jack.
  3. My recollection was it was going a fraction wide. Johnson would have rightly been pillioried if he'd left it in the hope of giving Grabbi a goal. Grabbi played OK that day but it rather summed him up that he couldn't find the net on a day we scored seven. I seem to recall that rather uniquely we had something like 5 different midfielders on the scoresheet that day. It was a great performance. Never seen us pile forward with such venom before or since.
  4. No reason to suggest why not, Amoruso isn't suddenly fit again is he? We had a bad day at the office last week but still got the result. We should play better this time round. It would also have been very unusual for us to win 2 consecutive home games under Souness, but we seem to be made of stronger stuff in recent times under Hughes. I reckon a comfortable win 2-0 or 3-1.
  5. We weren't. Liverpool TRIED shafting us. We ALLOWED ourselves to be shafted. The first change was perfectly reasonable and quite sufficient. There's no way the Press could have had a field day if Rovers PR mechanism had have pointed this out properly. Exactly the same sort of thing happened when Ferguson said he wasn't in the right frame of mind to play one particular game. We held all the aces with it being right on the transfer deadline but we meekly let him trot off to Rangers for a reduced fee. I'll be amazed if the thought of compensating Rovers fans has even crossed anyone's mind at Ewood. I'll show my backside on the town hall steps if it actually happens. Now there's incentive enough for you JW/TF!
  6. As to point one. Would they bollux! As to point two, agreed. The Hillsborough Family Support Group and Liverpool FC had already consulted and agreed to that extremely sensible and courageous course of action before the start of the season It's only Parry now trying to save face with the the now completely pointless and outdated HJC. Darth Paul's post is a noble one but I can't help thinking in reality that the rest of the country outside Liverpool will be looking at this ridiculous situation and thinking we're bonkers. Still, who cares if we lose out on yet more support and ST holders and potentially narrowly miss out on Europe. Just as long as Liverpool are kept happy.
  7. That was your view on here on March 14th, on there you're showing a totally different face apologising to them because one of our own fans is upset about the second switch!
  8. stu, why in god's name are you on that Liverpool Board trying to appease those idiots? It's surely of far greater consequence, that that Blackburn fan will not be renewing his season ticket next year. (whether you agree with his analysis of what happened at Hillsborough or not) I must admit I'm starting to wonder what the point of following Rovers is when the powers that be refuse to look after the interests of our own club. You're meant to be a member of BRISA not RAWK ffs.
  9. plus DVD's of games?
  10. We had every right to refuse to move it (again) didn't we?
  11. Bigbear is spot on, apart from the fact Rovers have had no regard whatsoever for the views of their own support. We are downright wrong to move this fixture a second time, both in terms of upsetting our own fans and giving us less time to recover before the Birmingham game on the 18th. We sure as hell had better get a favourable result out of that game now.
  12. That was my first thought. Although it's only really harming Hughesey and the team. Other than any potential loss of revenue, the management obviously couldn't care less.
  13. Not give away fans the best facilities, you must be joking! This is Blackburn Rovers! After the Liverpool farce I expect us to start placing a blanket ban on home fans and bussing in away fans for free presently. On a serious note, excellent ideas from you and ihb. It surely shouldn't be beyond the wit of man to devise a segregated path round to the Riverside for away fans. The Family Stand also ought to be moved. Doubt it will happen though, our strategy doesn't seem to extend beyond trying to cram as many away fans as possible into the ground and screwing them as hard as possible price wise for the 3 or 4 A+ games.
  14. Absoluely pathetic from Rovers management point of view. As usual we completely disregard our own fans to please one of the "big" clubs.
  15. Then again massive respect to people like Krislu and Dillo who make the effort to get to Ewood every season, in dillo's case it being from Japan. It would make a big difference if every exiled Rovers fan made just one trip to Ewood a season in the same way that it would if the local "floater" went 2 or 3 times.
  16. Put another way getting Amoruso alone off the wage bill is like having the income from another 3,000 adult season ticket holders available. His 16 appearances have cost the club about 4.5 m in wages and transfers over the last 3 seasons. Nearly 300k per game! Then again it was a similar story with Grabbi. Getting Amoruso, Gresko and Matteo off the wage bill is like suddenly "finding" another 9,000 adult season ticet holders.
  17. Not the most helpful example from Jan originally, the season might stretch over 9 months, but you only go through the turnstiles 19 times. The equivalent nineteen lots of 90 minutes entertainment at Vue costs just 114 quid. For an adult. On a Friday/Saturday. It's less any other time of the week and for kids. Just emphasises how hard Rovers have to work to compete for the "Leisure pound" these days.
  18. Obviously you're encouraged to go to University. Beyond that there's no agenda encouraging people to either leave the area or stay local but you can't stop people following the better paid jobs/doing what they want to do at the end of the day. Not everyone can earn 25k p.w. playing for Rovers.
  19. I'm sure it's not turning out juvenile delinquents. It probably turns out a lot of people who go on to be successful but move away from the area. Not the school's fault.
  20. Is that really the case though? Liverpool (rightly or wrongly) choose to consult with the HFSG. They did this at the start of the season and given all the prevailing circumstances a decision was taken to request an away fixture on the 15th which the Premier League apparently granted. The only lack of common sense comes from a certain section of the Liverpool support. Not altogether surprising judging by the contributions on the liverpool fansite.
  21. Perhaps "cave in" wa the wrong expression. Other than that you're exactly right. We're bound to displease some people now whenever we play so we should consider the wishes of our own support first. Especially after accomodating Liverpool once already.
  22. Sorry Den, but if we cave in again, it's being excessively awkward to our OWN supporters who have booked travel arrangements. And quite possibly Mark Hughes and the team.
  23. Chuckling along with most of your post but what exactly is your beef with QEGS?
  24. I would say it's essential. The key point being that the change of time, but not date, was at their request.
  25. Hope that happens, if it does that would get us neatly off the hook with both sets of fans, and that section of Liverpool support will still be brassed off with Parry because he agreed to a change for Sky but not because of the Hillsborough tragedy etc.
