                          GK

    Zabaleta - CB - Kompany  - LB

                Keane - CM

    RW         - Zidane -     Dugarry

                Lewandowski

I think those 7 would beat almost every Blackburn starting 11 from the past 8 years. ?

Were we not linked with Gareth Bale at one point during the Bentley to Spurs period and turned down the part exchange, also we turned down signing Son Hueng Min for the weekly wage of a championship player, did we not? Stick Bale at LB and Son on RW and that team is only a CB and CM shy of Champions League domination...

I'd personally keep Raya in goal ?

    No Luca Toni????

I would be content with Downing being signed to play a central role as we could do with a bit more quality on the ball in there but it would concern me if he was being signed as a winger.

Let's hope it turns out better than Whittingham in that case.

There are a few interesting players without contract at the moment. I saw for example that Yoann Gourcuff has no club. He was thought to be a world-class player back in the days. Not that he would ever come here even today... Just a bit interesting what happens to some players.

He wasn’t a gifted footballer but he didn’t half commit to tackles. He was certainly no Herold Goulon! Remember the song about him??

That man was proper shite, wasn't he? Had a look at his wikipedia stats, according to that he's played 150 career games. For 11 different teams. Since 2006.

  4. De Rossi leaves Roma. Under our PL days (particularly under Sam Allardyce) that could have been a signing that would have been even slightly possible. Get a few good years out of him.

    These days? Not so much.

And I guess we still have a big stumbling block in the owners. We have no idea what kind of money TM will have to work with in the summer.

I wouldn't be so sure. It could get spent on central midfielders to convert to centre halves. Or possibly wingers to convert to full backs. Maybe central midfielders to convert to wingers, like Rothwell. The options are limitless (except for signing players to play in their actual positions, that's taboo). We could even sign very expensive players in pretty much any position, to play on the bench. Which may happen increasingly as we  stick strictly to our artists:soldiers ratio regardless of the opposition.

You shouldn't pigeon-hole our transfer plans like that, the world is our oyster (Please note, oysters will be used as sharks, pigeon-holes will be used as badger dens).

This is one of those situations where I want to laugh because it sounds ridiculous, but then I look at the squad we have and the transfer history and.... well...

  6. Like someone on here said, It's strange that other clubs, like Newcastle, Blackpool etc, the media always look at what the owners actually do and then judge the fans. For us it's been the fans' fault from the beginning.

I once heard a pundit on Swedish TV say that the our fans were upset that "the owners promised a lot of money and the took it away". I've never been so close to trying to find a number to call in  to a live show and explain why we are really upset...
