I'm sure his experience here will stand him in good stead going forward, and if he can improve on his weaknesses then he's already shown here that his philosophy has the potential for a huge upside if all the pieces are in place and he's properly backed by the club's owners.

Which is why it's bizarre he's taken the Sweden job - went down in my estimations with that completely unambitious move

In the past weve been very lucky with goalscorers stepping up but theres definitely no one internal who will score a high number should Szmodics go.

Gallagher and Dolan would be the obvious 2 because unlike the rest theyve scored at least a few goals per season over a number of seasons, Gallagher usually gets 8 or 9 and Dolan less. But neither has it in them to suddenly start banging them in. Markanday is not good enough and needs moving on if anyone will have him. Leonard isnt ready for regular Championship football and there is plenty of hype around Gilsenan but he has only played a couple of league minutes and he might have scored a decent amount in the kids league but its a massive step up, see Vale as proof of that so if he becomes a first team member we have to treat it as a bonus rather than something we bank on.

You're forgetting Sigurdsson. Will he get 30+? No. But he has the pedigree to get 10-15 if everything falls right for him.

I don't think he will but I'm hoping we find a way to utilise Sigurdsson

But he's been dreadful and seems to have no confidence when he's playing.

He doesn't commit or run at his fb and he barely crosses it into the box

Maybe we should try him through the middle but would that even work

Don't think he's been dreadful, he's scored 8 goals-ish, right? Second behind SS. Definitely has something about him. With a proper pre-season and played correctly I could see him being an important player for us.

Dolan is actually the opposite - he wants (and is best) to play centrally.

Out wide he simply doesn't have the pace to worry FBs.

He works really hard and often finds himself in excellent positions but then inexplicably turns back on himself into trouble rather than passing or shooting. Drives me nuts watching it. Needs to get that indecision out of his game.

Some bloke was given Brittain stick from the Riverside at the final whistle, no matter what you think of Callum, whatever was going on didn't look pleasant and Brittain was clearly pissed off. Am I right that I didn't notice him coming out after?

Just to pick you up on this as I was right there. Brittain was asking fans on our side what the scores were in the other games at the end. He was told Birmingham Hudds was 1-1, then said "what about Sheff Wed". When he was told they'd won, he swore and slouched down with his hands on his knees all dejected. So pissed off, yes, but not with any fans.
