Strange isn't it. Particularly given he supposedly has a release clause set at £2.5 million and has been promised he can leave by the Peterborough chairman after they failed to go up.

Really shocked he hasn't been picked up, think he's a steel. West Brom were on verge of signing him a couple of weeks ago.

Really strange, for 2.5m he seems like a steal but again, I am not sure what else that can buy you in today's market. Could be seen as a risk but he has the quality to step up, I have no doubts about that. Some players you can just tell are too good for their division - Dack as an example. Some clubs in the Championship will have 2.5 to spend even if it's not us so seems strange for sure.

I wouldn't be heartbroken, unless we're getting a striker with some size and strength for him to play off. If we can only have one we need a Graham  mk2 not a Matt Derbyshire mk2.

Most of me agrees with you. I think I've just gotten to the stage that this Armstrong saga has dragged on for so long (if it is him we're after) that it would be nice to see him on a permanent deal just to kind of put my mind at rest. If that makes sense? Almost like you can accept what Tony has been saying about the competitive budget and we're not all going crazy with our 'loans only' policy we presume is occurring.

This is why it could point to Chapman or Armstrong - everyone knows Benno got that agent tag by telling them to come back here.

Completely agree. Probably more likely to be Armstrong with Chapman playing well for Boro and Armstrong being left at home by Newcastle

Its the fans adding the suspense... It's prob just media team having a bit of fun announcing Palmer. Hope I'm wrong.

What I mean is though, they'd just announce it. I could be wrong, I just can't see this fuss for a signing everyone knows is coming. No fuss for Rothwell and Davenport and they weren't even on anyone else's radar.

If Chapman was the real deal then surely there would be a host of clubs in for him

300 mins plus two major injuries ..jury well n truly out .

As much as I like Chapman, you're right. Looks like he's a great prospect but hard to judge properly based on what we saw last year. However he's an exciting looking player and we've lacked those recently so he's worth the risk for the right price!

  6. I don't really understand the 'hate' towards Nuttall. Looked decent last season and was unlucky to lose his place for some reason to Samuel when he got fit again and therefore resulted in a bit of low confidence (rightly so though). Willing to give him a shot in the Championship, he knows where the goal is. I'd obviously rather sign someone to start above him but I don't see why he can't be given minutes in the Championship especially when people were hoping for Wharton to get minutes.

If we finished up with this...

    IN
    Sam Gallagher (Perm)
    Kasey Palmer (loan)
    Lucas Nmecha (loan)
    Back up CH (Perm)

    OUT
    Caddis (free)

    Gladwin (loan)
    Nuttall (loan)

    Would everyone be disappointed?

I wouldn't say disappointed but I would be frustrated more than anything. Just all of this competitive budget talk to end up with all of that just signal's a complete lack of understanding as to what is competitive. Knowing Armstrong is ready and available and wants to come back here and we want him but then to not even afford to buy him is laughable. £3mil may be too much for him? But if our budget WAS competitive we would be making a deal work for him.
