  1. Cardiff winning will finish the season for anyone who still had doubts. We haven’t improved on last year despite spending more than most and adding some chunky wages in SG, SD and BJ. Tony should walk, obviously he won’t.
He’s not the man to take us forward and next season is going to be a horrible watch if we continue like this

His place in the starting 11 has to start being judged on his performances rather than his transfer fee. If he cost 100k, there's no way he'd be anywhere near the starting line up.

Completely agree with this. He offers absolutely nothing but gets the most game time out of our strikers...only reason is an attempted justification on £5m and highest wages in the team.
I give Samuel a lot of stick, but he costs a fraction of the amount and offers similar.

  3. Millwall have a nice run of fixtures, whilst Derby have a horrible run in.
Personally I think it’s between Cardiff and Millwall.

As for ourselves, to have a sniff we have to beat both Cardiff and Millwall away as well as at least 2 others, very slim indeed.
3 points from Wigan and Barnsley and who knows, I fear we’ll be looking back at that week for a few gloomy years to come as our best chance in a long time.
Reminiscent of throwing away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Sheff Wed and then 0-0 at home to Yeovil back to back in Bowyers years.

Plus the different wages spend on coaching staff. Bet Rovers coaching staff doesn't even to half of Bielsa's 6 million pounds contract a season that's he on.

Maybe we should spend money in the right places then... How are those £12m strikers going (+ their wages)?

I’m not even sure what you’re arguing.

Fair enough Chaddy, looks like a few contact extensions given they only signed a handful of players that year.

My point still stands. They had exactly the same squad bar a keeper on a free, a championship striker for £7m, a loanee from a Prem club and a LB .

(sounds like Walton, Brereton, Tosin and...(we didn’t get a LB?))

Yet he still took them from mid-table to 3rd and then promotion. He didn’t even need Tony’s transfer budget!

And Leeds wage bill was more double what Rovers wage bill was. Leeds wage bill 46 million. Rovers wage bill 22 million

“The club's total wage bill was £20million, with about £16million being spent on the first-team squad's salaries.

Again, this is another area which will change dramatically next season, as the wage bill has increased by approximately £8million this year.“

Taken from a Leeds newspaper on the back of their 2017 figures, so not sure where £46m has come from.

Not sure where you’ve plucked those numbers from Chaddy, considering it is a 10 year period I am talking about.

My point was Bielsa barely changed the team or wage bill. 2 signings (Bamford and Casillas) and 1 loanee (Harrison) who play regularly from that season and took them from mid table to the best team (or 3 teams) in the league in a years time, with 1 pre season.

The gulf between the two managers is huge, but Bielsa is the anomaly, you won’t get many of him in the Championship.

  8. With all the talk about Mowbray on other threads, it’s worth noting that before Bielsa came to Leeds they finished

    13th, 7th, 13th, 15th, 15th, 13th, 14th, 7th

They didn’t once make the playoffs since coming up from L1 until his arrival
Then 3rd last season thanks to an all mighty bottle, and looking like they’ll cruise it this season.

This is all he spent in the first year too, not too dissimilar to our manager last year .B018B33B-D96F-4EC3-B85D-41161F1D6B8A.thumb.jpeg.e9fa17c5cb77dc38ac4bfbe08043966c.jpeg

They play great football and I’ve never seen a championship team put in as much of a shift as they do. Everything we’ve not been over the last week.

Spine of the team is decent - Lenihan, Travis, Dack, Armstrong. A few decent players around the squad - Holtby, Evans, Nyambe.

But he's done himself by buying absolute and utter garbage strikers to play on the wing for £12M rather than sorting out the defence. Mistakes that big cost you your job.

He's only got himself to blame. Hope Venjys fancy dipping into their pocket this summer for a new manager and at least half a dozen new players.

Exactly this. The spine of our team is easily top 6 quality, but that’s not even half the team.

You’re right though, Tony can only blame himself, spending £12m on strikers without fixing CB#2, LB, any player with a remote bit of width.

  10. Season ticket sales are going to be shocking next year, whenever they actually go on sale that is.

Season is over and Tony can only blame himself. So much deadwood in the team and it’s come to bite us in the arse. These lads don’t have the bite and hunger to progress like you’d get from Travis and Dack. They look disinterested.

Squad needs a huge overhaul in the summer, and as much as I’ve defended Mowbray over time, he hasn’t shown he’s the man to do it. Too pally with them all, too many undeserved contracts.

Cardiff, Swansea and Millwall all drawing too, when we’re coming away from Wigan and Barnsley with 0 points and -4 GD you can’t help but give up.

Not at all. Barnsley away again this stage is a must win game in a season close to the play off places. If we don’t win tonight, we may as well start preparing for next season in the Championship again. We probably already have.

The trouble is, as many clubs have found out in the past, finishing 7th or 8th can mean relegation the season after.

If you don’t want to face that then stop replying to my posts.

You were relating Lenihan missing a game to see the birth of his child with the club going bust.

  12. Lots to be frustrated about in that 1st half:

    - Shocking 20 minutes

    - Bradley Johnson is our 2020 Danny Murphy

    - Samuel no brain in the box

I’d stick Brereton on at half time, if he plays like the last few games he’ll have more of an impact than Samuel. Still not convinced on this false 9 formation.

If you want to be successful, yes.

If it’s seen as just a bit of a holiday camp, no.

Every time we are on the cusp of getting somewhere, there is some bullshit reason to allow it to fall over. We are going nowhere with this attitude.

Please don’t complain when this club goes bust because of our debt.

That has escalated quickly from Lenihan missing Barnsley away to be at the birth of his child.

    Take a breather Stuart

Yeah, I’m guessing Ferguson could afford to accommodate such losses.

Much better times now though, where Shankly and Clough are seen as idiots.

Maybe their statues need pulling down.

So you can only have time off for the birth of you baby if the team you play for has a good squad ?

  15. Without our 3 most important players, and the spine of the team in Lenihan - Travis - Dack.

Bookies giving us only a 33% chance of win, with Barnsley more likely at 37% chance. Read into that as you will but speaks volumes given they’re bottom of the league and there is no crowd.
