  1. ther eis no doubt he did us proud when we won that trophy but lets look at it from a slightly different angle

he is NOT nor will he ever be bigger than BRFC.

The club have done the right thing and got rid of a bad apple even if he is class player. He has scored 1 in 3 for us but really it should be a much better scoring ratio.

Grasping at apples maybe but for me its so long and time to move on.

A big financial headache has been removed from the shoulders of BRFC and now we can make efforts to rid the club of the lazy one, the thug and the unfortunate one.

its time to move on tinykit.giftinykit.gif

for the life of me I cannt agree with you when you suggest we will be playing the dingles in the league next season. Are you really serious ?

if so then supporters like yourself with those type of views are not really wanted are they ? I mean all this negative vibe and the season still 5 weeks away !

Do you really think that wba, norwich and palace, pompy, bolton, city will be much better than Rovers ?

I think your shooting your bolt a little too soon on this one.

We know we have a horrendous first few games but then we have a tremendous chance to make that up over the next 3 months.

    Stay positive

  3. i think that he has in the way he has conducted himself.

ffs he is on a reported 60k a week and all he can do is moan moan and flooping sulk and stomp like a little girl.

He was a great striker and he was good for BRFC his ending has been brought abut by his own poor attitude. I am not blaming him 100% and GS must answer his own actions.

we will all beg to disagree but imo I think that if he really wanted to be a Rovers player then he would have let bygones be bygones. That would be the real attitude of a real man not the ones by cole which just proves he is a sulking soab.

As for a payoff, well in all my time I have yet to ever see a professional player being paid the full amount if he leaves a club, I agree a severance package will have been put in place but not anywhere near the size of his reported contract.

As for the LET I dont read it page to page I only read the internet version and it did state that Cole had told the club he couldnt play for the manager, it was also widely reported in the Independant. Look on the news now archive and I am sure it will appear.

  4. I think if you go on the archive for LET you will see the report that states Cole has told the club he is no longer prepared to play for the manager. IMO that makes it the same as saying that I am bigger than the manager, the club must do as I say, I am the superstar and I am right !

But the real way to look at it is this, he has asked to go because he cannot resolve his differences with the manager. that is his problem and is simply because his ego has over inflated.

Dont get me wrong I would love Cole to stay at Rovers but he has dissed the name of BRFC not just with Souness but with the whole damned set up.

I understand your views and respect them but I cannot ever think that BRFC will have paid cole up the full amount or anywhere near it for him to leave. The man is a multi millionaire and does not need his pay off in full from Rovers, foolham would also have to make some offer of incentives to him to get him to sign.

Oh yes the other thing that struck me

NOT one other Premiership club looks like they are interested in him, not even his old boss KK. Now that really says it all tinykit.gif

  5. I would reserve judgement on that one

It was COLE himself who has allegedly told the club and Souness that he cannot play for them, does that not then become some sort of transfer request ?

I dont think that Rovers will have paid out a massive bonus for one he didnt deserve it, and secondly all reports are saying that as there is no fee foolham are taking over the remaining 18 months of his contract !

  6. I wouldnt be too downhearted on the fact that cole got given a freebie transfer. I mean saving of around 60K a week PLUS a massive loyalty bonus is surely worth equal to a fee of around 2.3 million or even more.

I would now imagine that Rovers are in a position of strength if it comes to getting another striker. The whole footballing world now knows that the massive wages that were payable a few years ago are simply not around that is unless you are a massive star and are going to one of the really big clubs.

Other clubs know that you cannot command big transfer fees anymore, we have seen this with the likes of Steadinho and Emerton.

Basing my opinion solely on the above I figure Rovers could afford easily to bring in a decent striker, maybe from abroad and on loan, they could even afford to "rent" a player such as Butt and still be quids in.

The "rent" of a player may become more fashionable now as clubs simply have to start somewhere to try and recoup money that they need to survive.

  7. how about SAVIOLA or KLUIVERT or OVERMARS or in fact anyone else that springs to mind.

The name will get back to us I am sure, I cannot imagine graham souness walking around the ground and telling the 100 or so Rovers fans present at that match not to tell their mates and loved ones about the big hairy geezer who is coming on at half time !!

Lets just wait and see rolleyes.gif

  8. for all Rovers fans visiting preston

the best place to drink is the weatherspoons on the corner of ringway and friargate, cheap ale and no problems, further up you have several pubs that will welcome custom with open arms, christ you can even have a chinese banquest for a fiver if you like at the preston buffet stop half way up friargate, for those less accustomed there is mcdonalds nearby, a lovely hostellery called oneills and its all within a 15 minute stroll to deepdale rolleyes.gif

  9. that would be the sumners arms a pne stronghold that does NOT welcome away fans as Norwich and Forest and Millwall and anyone else who ventured into the pub last season !

You will be lucky to get into any city centre pub wearing BRFC colours as be warned there is NO drinking in the streets/public !

pubs to avoid - stephensons/ the deepdale/ the sports bar/sumners.

    biggrin.gif

  10. Chris

the stats are unarguable thats for sure.

its just a pity that workrate and effort cannot be statistified

    but imho

putting cole against someone like dickov it would show AC is far far way behind him.

I cannot and wont argue against goal ratio but compare it to assists I do not think that the difference would be too far apart.

    Rmun mentions mr harrods

well I agree that if Cole doesn't put in any effort to assist his new team then he will be one of those UNTOUCHABLE players and it will be all down to himself.

    if only I was earning 60k a week eh ? cool.gif

  11. I would imagine what happened last Monday will hit the media sometime this weekend - and I am talking about Cole v Souness - something happened at Brockhall and I am certain that Kamy might be able to put an angle on that if ever it makes the headlines.

handbags at 40 paces in the sandpit !! blink.gif

  12. chris

I have never doubted AC's ability and his class.

The thing that really pi$$es me off about him is that he earns massive money for doing very little at the end of the day !

Yes he has a pot full of medals, but he aint won them on his own. He has plenty of other players to thank for those.

Yes he was good for the youngsters.

    but

he was NOT good for the BRFC as a whole, if you dont want to play then out you must go. His moping and sulks are not good for the club and IMo it is far better to rid the club of him and get someone else who can do a job.

Comparing his medal haul to that of Dickov is a joke. PD has never played a full season in a team full of superstars. He may not have the grace of top class striker but he certainly makes up for that with aggression and effort, and that is definately something you can never say about cole or dorke !

  13. ohmy.gif

I always thought there was somehting behidn the secret scowl with andy cole and its now been highlighted

    he is a COTTAGER

the toilets at Moor Park, Preston will now be visited by someone else other than cottager cole !

Personally he is NO good to Rovers in fact he is a liability. Great posts by phil, scotty (as usual) and eddie as well as the others pointing out how much a liaibility he actually is.

I mean, if he had converted just 6 of the chances he had spurned over the whole season then Rovers would have been top 6, I am not just blaming him now he is off and certainly not taking anything away from our other players who spurned scoring chances but at the end of the day he is on massive money, an eperienced striker and goal scorer and that is what he actually is paid to do.

Yes the fact that it may hinder the progress of Gally and Steadinho is a worry cause those two up and coming stars will have continued to learn from someone who had done it all.

I am not worried about possibly going into the season with Dickov, Stead, Gally plus Jansen, I personally think that Rovers have the facility to bring in a loan striker and a loan midfielder. There is at this time NO point in wasting further funds until Todd, Flitcrift and Yorke are all off the payroll.

Losing those 4 players will bring in a million and will undoubtedly save 400k a month in wages.

The loss of Cole will IMO bring a better feeling around the club, as his lowly work rate compared to the enthusiasm of Dickov will definately NOt be missed.

no more sulks, no more whingeing, no more horrendous misses and no more hands on hip I am a gayboy look to the Blackburn End.

Thanks AC for the winner at Cardiff, it won me a fine 200 quid, thanks for your effort and goals but you have ,et us down, the club the fans and yourself. Your conduct is simply unacceptable now lets see how you tackle Colemand and mr Harrods !

so long and please dont come back mad.gif

  14. com on MB that last point is totally irrelavent is it not ?

We are now in 2004 not 1986.

There are still people being killed at sporting events be it tragedy or murder, leeds fans will testify to that as will English supporters in Portugal. African fans have died in crowd rushes not too far ago when a ground was overcrowded.

Sporting events are much better organised and people are better trained, facilities are far better and believe it or not some lessons have been learned and some haven't.

On that fateful day a whole range of human errors as well as an old stand conspired together with the end result that 96 persons died.

there is not ONE person responsible for the event and if you read every survey on the internet sites for the hillsborough tragedy you will not find ONE that goes 100 percent against anyone be it the liverpool fans or the south yorks bobbies.

It was sad and will always be but IMO its time to let it lie sad.gif

  15. scotty your wrong on that. I would be the first to point out any errors if I saw them.

I have a good idea as to actual time events of that day even though I was over the other side of the Pennines.

I am not pro police on this matter.

I would love to see someone brought to justice for the deaths of those fans.

I would love to see the full enquiry brought out into the public.

so please understand my point of view on this. Someone else as well as the Police Chief has to shoulder some of the blame. He should not be the scapegoat in this. sad.gif

  16. oh come on MB

I could never dismiss such a tragedy, and even greater I could never support anyone who did.

The whole sorry incident, including the saturday afternoon, the subsequent media attention, the funerals and the court cases must have been horrendous for families involved.

The same for Bradford, the same for Ibrox and the same for Heysel.

There is no doubt the court case could have been handled better, I dont subscribe to the idea that the judge would not allow any evidence after a time cut off point as that is most definately not within his remit. I would suggest the only reason why it was not allowed would have been that it failed to be served on the prosecution and/or defence within the statutory time limits.

As a sports fan I took to heart what happened in every sporting tragedy in my lifetime, it is the way of a real sporting fan anyone else I am sure would feel the same..

Life has its tragedies along the way but like others have said time does heal. It appears in this aprticular scenario - the Hilsborough tragedy - some people will never let it go. I dont hear Heysel being harped on about, I dont hear Bradford or Ibrox being harped about.

now that should surely tell you one thing.

IMO there is clearly ONE thing missing from the whole sorry argument, a third party that has to this date never been brought to the notice of the public. sad.gif
