  1. the sporting contest of the decade-no question
  2. they coming home the ashes are coming home!
  3. I have got to say a fantastic day...the best feeling ever in sport..I can't even write this due to some kind of liquid celebrations...well done lads...
  4. I can see it...Monday afternoon Warne between England and the Ashes...England hold there nerve and the ashes are....
  5. I would like the person who decided to make public England plans for celebrating the return of the ashes (i.e parade) before the 5th test had started to be publically shoot, or even castrated.
  6. good news...langer out and it's raining
  7. I am getting a feeling a bit like the day before blackburns championship winning sunday..I getting stocked up on gum to chew away the nerves
  8. BA are offering an intreasting Ashes themed offer A ticket to Sydney costing the amount the aussies score in their 1st innings (so if they score 300 runs it will cost £300). The number of tickets avaiable will be the same as the number of runs england (so if they score 400 runs in their 1st innings there will be 400 tickets)
  9. And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the countenance divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among those dark satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land.
  10. before the last test Hayden made a 100 but didn't pull many trees up in the test by the looks of things I could have made a tonne on that Essex track and with that attack
  11. If England wins the toss there is no question that Engalnd will bat first. We could knock up a big score (say 400-500) over a day or 2 and bat the aussies out of the series. Heard McGill might be played. Who would make way for him?
  12. seeing the pictures on TV just shows how poor parts of the south USA are.
  13. Richie Benaud hanging up his microphone for the last time in England at the Oval. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/england/4202394.stm one of the greats...
  14. I was to young to remember the 1981 ashes, for those of you who can remember how does the present series compare ?
  15. I will stand my orginal predication!
  16. you can always rely on the king of spain! how many more times can my heart stop before being declared clinical dead? it's like Custards last stand with these aussies...just shows the diffrence between the 2 teams. The aussies are replying on only a couple of players performing (warne and lee) whilst a lot of the englasih are perfroming For the Oval-a nice boring rain affected draw please God. England win the toss and make a big score over 2 days, and can than sit back and enjoy! during the end of the match my girlfriend came up with "are there 2 Flintoff's in the team?" no theres only one Freddie!
  17. and for the rest of the test
  18. heard Rod Marsh speaking on radio after today's play saying that he hoped Australia would put up a fight tomorrow to prolong the game and give the crowd some entertainment! says it all really
  19. what will vaughan do if he wins the toss? bat first and post a bit score like in 2nd/3rd tests...or with trent bridge going to be dampish bowl first with Hoggard (hopfully) swinging the ball? I would quite like england to chase a smallish target this time mind you if Mcgrath is not 100% a day in the field might do him some good
  20. Ewood Park's dramatic drop in attendance should be of major concern for the club. comparing yesterday's attendance with the opening day of the 1999/2000 season (circa 20K) and 2000/2001 (circa 18K) is very worring. even when the club was playing in a lower level the gate were bigger. one bright note, towards the end of the 00/01 season gates had risen to +25K. so if the cub is doing well on the pitch perhaps the crowds will return? saying that I think the club needs to do some market research to find out way people are staying away, and what (if any) the club can do to ensure they return
  21. members who have read my comments in other topics should be unsurprised to know that I agree with a lot of what is said in this article. football is full off players who now prefer to be "celebrities" rather than football heroes. it's become very money obsessed and greedy full of pre-madonna’s who cry/strike if earning less than £100k a week
