Not a transfer story (for us) but nobody has posted for 3 hours and I dunno where else to put it..

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/soccernet.ng/2022/07/id-chain-him-up-former-blackburn-boss-warns-against-cashing-in-on-chelsea-linked-super-eagles-star.html/amp

Either my memory is beyond terrible and I need to see the doctor, or I've slipped into an alternate reality...this article thinks Barry Ferguson was once our caretaker manager?!

Hoping this is the calm before the storm next week.  Discussing Scott W height is hopefully the lull point 👍

You keeping slamming these loans spells Sam Burns had or Jack Vale had without seeing them live for those clubs? is this correct? If you watched of those games can you say what was good and bad about their performances?

I think @Mike Eis right to say that we should be given some players a chance to be part of the first team squad going forward. @J*Bsaid yesterday that players like Adam Wharton, Harry Leonard, etc will be given the chance to impress on our pre season training camp to Portugal

Wood looks a very good prospect for the future.

Out of the u23 matches I watched,

H Wood impressed me the most and got me interested 👍

I'm not so sure on that. John Park has now left and so it will be Gregg Broughton will take over the recruitment team now until we appoint a new head of recruitment in my opinion

So Park has gone ? It was only a couple days ago GB was quoted as saying Park contracted until end of the month and was due to talk about situation.

I guess then , now had conversation and he's gone 🤣. At least things seem to be happening quickly

I don’t think we can fork out £4m for a player. We need to strengthen several positions. Twine would be a statement early doors though.

Hull have their new Turkish owner and Burnley PL parachute money so can’t see us competing with that.

Sure👍 I'm only mentioning GB peice on transfer plans . Which seems to say they can get on with business at the moment regardless of BBD situation.

He added: “The owners have been very clear, they’re happy for us to push ahead with that plan, regardless of whether Ben is in the building or not.

“We don’t have to wait, we can act straight away on that.”

  5. There was a poster on here who mentioned a conversation he had with Swag.

Swag apparently said, when TM goes and a replacement is being made , there would be a thorough interview process which Swag would be involved with and recommendation made to the owners.

This was in relation to previous appointments not being done in this way .

And so it transpires that this seems to have happened.

Despite all the doom and gloom of some posters,  regarding supposedly missing out on managers early in the search .

What is there to be positive about about the appointment of a former Academy Director no-one had ever previously heard of?

He might turn out to be a success, might not, but has no previous experience as a DOF and I really don't understand this assumption he's going to transform our fortunes.

Ok let's not appoint a dof and just carry on moaning about a lack of club structure . It may / may not work,  but at least a void filled ( hopefully)

There is a good, promising core, but I can't describe us as stable. It feels very similar to the start of the summer where we went on to get relegated. Too many players need replacing, because they're gone rather than because they're old though. We have no manager, assistant manager, fitness coach, and preseason starts next week. The manager search has shambolically dragged on for what, 6 weeks or something now? Even though we've known for ages what was happening. Our budget is very likely to be shite. Our best player will probably leave, which will bring in some needed funds, but I'd put money on it not happening until late in the window. Our idiot CEO has inevitably reduced attendances next season with his pricing too.

None of this says stable to me. Obviously I'm hoping for a talented new manager who can sort out the staff and player shortages cleverly, a healthy budget with the awareness we need to set ourselves up for the next few years, and either an early, healthy sale or new contract when it comes to BBD. Based on the past and present though, I'm struggling to believe any of that will happen. But the core of the squad is there if we make those moves, to succeed, yes.

Sure it's a mess as usual and we should have the manager situation sorted  knowing TM was going months ago. Though shit happens,  like when Sven G E was lined up . Last year at this point I struck money on relegation, then pre 🎄 promotion 🤣. I'm just generally saying ( not to you personally) not to be too depressive and hopefully something positive will transpire. Else what's the point in it all.

I may be proving your point here I admit, but it certainly can be worse than our 8th place finish. In fact the majority of seasons since Venkys have taken over have been worse. I didn't rate Mowbray but we have had worse managerial outcomes in that time too. Like you say though, fingers crossed we get it right this time.

It least we seem 'stable ' now , with a lot of younger players looking to break through with some potential. Previously it was mainly older journey men, on high wages,  no potential

  9. Hopefully the new dof fills a gap in the club structure and I personally feel its a step forward.

Managers can come and go quickly,  so hopefully this gives us more long-term continuity , despite future manger changes.

No idea or preference on the new coach, other than some passion & positively.

Reading this thread is like a self harm clinic at the moment.  So many people just expecting the worst and anyone positive shot down . I know it's been shit but without hope there is nothing.   🤞 these changes work out , can't be any worse ...

Mowbray has confirmed he is leaving the club after next week game. He has confirmed that John Park will leave and other staff in the medical department are leaving for Man City Woman and Red Bull Leipzig. But Mark Venus is still under contract and We need know whether David Lowe, Ben Benson and Damien Johnson will remain here. Will Mark Venus become director of football here? What role will Waggott play in the next appointment and whats the plan going forward from here.

Its disappointing the club haven't talk to Mowbray and even to say Tony we won't be renewing your contract and thanks for all your hard work in rebuilding a football club and efforts are much apprenticed.

Rovers must look to appoint to the best man for the job and for me that's is Daniel Farke. He is exactly the type of manager/head coach we need now to take us to the next step

What's the contract situation with Waggott   , when's it up ?

So he’s basically saying that he’s not been the appointment that was needed? Or maybe they know that once he’s gone we’ll do better, like we did when we told him to do one for the second half against Derby.

We’d probably have performed better with no manager at all after January. He’s hindered us.

I just read it as, some of the team are pleased he's going and they are looking forward to the changes coming
