I posted a list a few pages back, every 20+ goal scorer last season cost significantly less than £5m, except Rodriguez who was bought for £12m when WBA were in the Premier League. It was all simply good scouting from the lower and european leagues, with a home grown prospect or two thrown in. Granted many of these were bought a few seasons back, but it just shows the value of looking ahead (and I don't mean by spending £7m on a youngster).
If Gallagher scored 8-10 goals then I'd consider that reasonable considering he'd probably be spending most of his game time on the right wing. But it would only be reasonable if he was on loan or bought for significantly less than £5m.
A good post countered with FACTS.

I would guess he will play wide right as he appears to favour that role these days. I'm pleased it is a one year contract, as anymore would be criminal and perceived poorly. He won't be cheap, it's got to be at least 20k, plus bonuses. We will see but it's a good million quid less in the kitty.
20k x 52 = £1040000. IF 20 k is true
Football is clinically insane

Get a grip everyone, you'd think it was Cristiano Ronaldo that was leaving. Was decent but not outstanding at his best but that was quite some time ago and he'sbeen very poor for 2 or three seasons at the least. We need better than he ever was if we're to entertain dreams of getting back into the Premier League at any point.
Next.
Judging players isn’t one of your strong points.

Honestly, what’s with all this Leeds hatred?
Bielsa did well as I’m under the impression he didn’t sign any players and used the players already at the club?
Being bankrolled back to the prem by sky. And they still haven’t managed it despite it going on for years.

Compassion - yes but to guys who've been earning thousands per week and know exactly how the game works. Sorry but this isn't a non league player and we aren't a charity even though we've resembled one for most of the past ten years.
If it's a 6 month deal on a grand per week whilst he gets himself sorted then that's commendable and fair enough but keeping him on the same terms then mulling over a new deal if he gets fit is bonkers because at the end of the day he's a poor player probably better suited to lower down the scale.
Anyway it remains to be seen but usually when TM drops hints on this kind of thing they then usually come true he's a stickler for better the devil you know, lads probably already been promised a fresh deal if he gets fit. Maybe if he has to pack in the insurance will cover it i'm sure there'd have to be some angle on it to get it past the owns or their middleman at least.
Some good signings it'll be forgotten about but an underwhelming window and moans of little room in the budget then he'll rightfully get pelters for not freeing up some much needed space off that list.
We are certainly "Not for profit" ! ?

Good win - should have been by a heck of a lot more. Rub it in the Trotters wounds on Monday and then get some of the young lads on.
We are running out of games to get the young lads in. Unsuprisingly.

Duff would have been a bit-part player if he was in this team.
First read through I saw this as a joke.
Then I realised you are being serious. And I agree ☹️

34 mins stoke player down injured. Stoke controlling the game.
Stoke players all gathered around the manager getting instructions.
Rovers players ambled around the penalty area whilst Mowbray stayed in dugout.
This isnt the first time its happened this season. Same mistakes/unprofessionalism repeated time and again.
Times up I’m afraid. Give it Johnson until the end of the season and review things from there.
At least that’s what would happen if the club was run properly. But we all know it isn’t.

Evans and Smallwood don’t work together in this league. I thought we had established this a long time ago.
They didnt impress me much in league 1

is Mowbray trying to get the sack?
-
Our midfield is painful to watch

Can we have Joe Allen?

Starting 11 today was the league 1 team + Reid.
Mowbray is clearly not taking us forward.
Large number of signings needed in the summer. I’m afraid I don’t trust him to make those signings.

Let’s hope Tony starts with a striker on the pitch for the first half this time, unlike his lamentable tactics at Deepdale.

If "agree" and "disagree" buttons help to reduce the amount of quoting and verbal diarrhoea by some posters then I'm all for it.
I was enjoying the message board again up until a couple of weeks ago. Wonder why.

The article states that Gestede is available. He’s not done what he did for Rovers since his departure but possible loan isn’t out of the realm of possibility?
I’m aware that he’s had a bad injury but are there other factors?
We don't play with wingers like we did last time he was here. He needs a good supply because he is a fantastic header. However I don't thinks he'd get it with the current tactics.

You can vote for the best title winning Keeper in the premier league era on the BBC website.
Brad Friedel isn’t on it.
Joe Hart is.

If I was Rodwell I wouldn’t be too keen to stay after this season based on that.
When everyone is fit he ‘may’ play occasionally when we have 3 games a week, clearly here just as backup and can’t see him wanting to do that for long
His player loyalty policy will be his undoing.
Not sure how we can progress with that sort of thinking. Very worrying.

Radio Newcastle saying Travis kept giving ball away
Travis plays a high risk/high reward forward passing game (much like Tugay used to do - many experts on here called it tugay's imaginary friend).

All the time he was on, even if only about 15 minutes.
Did he actually have a touch?
I dont think so.
Does Tony not learn from his mistakes? Worrying.
You need DG on to close out games, not subbed for a player not remotely ready for first team football.

Yes, a complete abortion of a match tactically by Mowbray. In front of 5K away fans. Shameful and embarrasing.
Somehow it was even worse in the next match against Wigan.
