  1. Where does this idea come from that Thommo can't pass? Positional again no as this was where he started out playing. Maybe the two of them will get forward to much, but the rest of these comments is based on total nonsense. Physically imposing, well thompson is one of the toughest players we have, and probably, other than Reid possibly, the most physically imposing midfielder on our books.

  2. PR cock up? Most people didn't hear about it outside those who support the club, and those who support the club don't really mind all too much. Some of you may be upset, but most think it was the right thing to do just handled poorly, oh well, life goes on.

  3. and I think, so do most of the fans.

And the fans thought that Steven Reid was a waste of space who should be transferred at the earliest opportunity - until recently.

MGP will not be able to prove himself unless he gets a run in the team like Reid has had.

Reid also had to wait a year for this run (granted much of the time was due to injury, but not all).

  4. Gold adds to his comments as its rumoured Yorke will seek a move due to Sullivan's comments.

    http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...acism_Gold.html

What an article! Couple of questions........

    1. Why should the chairman of a plc have to justify his comments to some half-arsed reserve team striker who will probably be as ill educated as 90%** of his colleagues in professional football?

    2. Wtf has Shaka Hislop got to do with the incident? His contribution is about as relevent to the subject as Lee Bowyer for instance! ohmy.gif

    3. Yorke seek a move!!! laugh.giflaugh.gif ......... your having a laff! Think Real will be in for you do you Dwight?

** Did I really say 90%? Sorry I meant 99% of his colleagues.

Do they not get that SUllivans point was that he would have been smarter to not have even been there in the first place, not to run away as such

  5. One pillock, at least, spoils yesterday's game with his ignorant behavour, which seems to me having seen the TV footage to be a monkey taunt.  And after a dozen pages of reasonable discusssion here waggy and blue phil hit the gutter.

"The fact of the matter is that nothing of any note happened at Ewood yesterday."

I'm afraid it did Blue Phil if the footage is to be believed.  It seems certain that Yorke was racially abused yesterday.

"i will not apoligise for what went on yesterday,as most people living in blackburn knows it goes on-why do you think we only get .0000001 % off the asian population coming to ewood, they get abused, black players get abused."

Well Waggy that makes it OK doesn't it?  Racism happens, so there's no point anyone complaining then is what you're saying.

    With fans like these........

Now Come On. Anyone who has been on this board for a while may know that I once got myself in trouble by attacking several members in a chat for making what I felt to be racist comments, and ended up getting myself in trouble with the mods. However, though it should be condoned, the mindless acts of one individual, or even a small group, in a crowd of several thousand should not be taken to be that significant. The individuals should be punished accordingly, but similar things take place everyday, and though it's not nice, it's just another way people make fun of and attack others. Would we be up in arms if the entire Blackburn end had started up a rendition of "You're a ginger b*st*rd" directed towards Scholes? No, of course not. What those idiots did last night was just stupid, and I'm sure they'll get what they deserve, but it is being totally blown out of proportion.

To be honest with you, I think it's quite sad that Yorke has even had to make such a big deal about it. If he can't handle the comments of some idiot on the touchline without going to the press and the police then it is a little sad. I've had many things said to me about my nationality, religion and skin colour in my already quite short life.

It sadly is part and parcel of everyday living, and the world really needs to step back and put this in perspective, and not make scapegoats out of a football club that do their upmost to prevent such things.

EDIT- Just thought I might add I don't agree with Waggy at all, and I'm rather saddened to see people reacting to this situation in such a way.

  6. Dickov was a pest, but also a bit of a whiner. Cmon Paul, point 2 fingers towards your eyes again, the officials have never seen you do that. Every time he went down he was complaining and cursing (if my lip reading was accurate).

It's part of his game, that is why he is so annoying. Lay off, you should stop having such a whine.

As for the shouldn't be in that position, it's football, it happens. We play open attractive football, went behind, through a combination of errors and skill by the opposition, but managed to keep the same style and have the grit and determination to fight back. It's one game, doesn't mean anything really, but that was excellent, and this game, I, and it seems the rest of this board, are pretty happy with.

  7. Lucas neill needs to visit an optician. In the second half he let a ball run out of play when it had clearly come off a Rovers player. If I remember rightly he did the same in the Liverpool match. Surely if he's in any doubt he should play the ball.

It depends, he may well have had calls from other players, who knows. I don't really mind if he does that every few games but the rest of his performance is solid.

  8. Going forward we were excellent. Great passing, movement and created oppurtunities. The defence, I think they'll get more stick than they deserve, should have done better, but for the majority of the match I don't think they were all that bad, especially Neill and Todd, Nissa and Jay on the left had a few problems.

I think we should all take this chance to applaud Reid. He has taken a lot of stick on this board, with a lot of people saying he isn't premiership quality, today he was the best player on that pitch, and there are a few people on here who I think should hold their hands up. True it was only one game, but the boy has shown us he has it.

Great fighting spirit to come back, shame Dickov couldn't take the chance at the very end because that would have made it the perfect game (other than conceding four goals).

The fitness was great, and Hughes had his finger on the button when it came to who to take off and when. Obviously what he said at half time was right too, and on top of that, even if we had lost that game, the style of football that we played was the sort that I think we all want to see, entertainment without a doubt.

  9. Dont think they would be able to afford them, and to be honest, though bazza may not have the attachment to this club that he does with Rangers, the obvious step up in quality of opposition and the extra respect he can earn in a more competitive league, even for a worse team, outweighs the positives of moving back to Scotland

  10. You have to start somewhere, and there is more chance of it happening with the supporters getting behind the club. We give the players a lot of stick, they went out and played very well last saturday, so now its only fair that we give them credit where credits due

  11. I thought Reid was good, and Neill, though still not the player he used to be, did his job. There was obvious skill there, Tugay, Ferguson, Emerton and Bothroyd all showed that they had it, while Dickov, though many probably wont mention it, also, as he has down already this season, showed that he isn't just a scrappy hard worker. I thought the way we passed and moved the ball was excellent, and I would have been equally pleased with that performance had it happened two seasons ago.

  12. Im having a small slice of humble pie for my supper.

However one result doesnt make survival

least we showed fight, spirit and a fair bit of skill and panache

don't dare have humble anything yet, long long way to go, doing well against a good team and getting a single point, it typical of a struggling side, because its about consistency.

I'm really not slightly excited by todays performance because it reminds me of Manu 1996 when the score was 2-2 and then we managed to go another 8-9 without winning.

    Consistency

but at least Hughes has shown bottle in making chances, thats a good sign. I question whether Souness would have ever dropped Matteo

Thats one of way of looking at it.

You could also say that it has to start somewhere, and I thought our performance yesterday was excellent. Who knows whether we'll actually start to turn things around now, but other than a poor first 10 minutes, and one error that cost another goal, I saw nothing wrong (though obviously we aren't Arsenal) with what happened out there. It wasn't just a back to the wall scrap like we showed we can do towards the end of last season, what was most impressive was that there was fight and passion, but the sort of skill I think we'd all want to see.

  13. I thought it was a good hard working performance in which we also showed quite a bit of class. If we keep playing like that, I have no doubts that we will finish much higher up the table than we are now. The midfield was excellent, and I hope Nissa keeps his spot at the back. I thought the most refreshing thing about watching that team was actually seeing some young players out there. It just makes you feel better and more optimistic.
