  1. That's sort of been mentioned before. I feel though that Thompson would make an excellent central midfielder if he can rediscover the form that he had when he first came here, and I have no reason to believe that he can't do that. I also think that Emerton is a quality right midfielder, he simply wasn't consistent last season, but I think that with a true outlet on the left now some of the pressure will be taken off him and he will be given more space in which to perform, but we'll have to wait and see on that one. Neill I also think is a very good player, as I hope he is the player of two seasons ago rather than last years version.

If all the players play the way that they can I have no doubt that three of the slots should be taken up by De Pedro, Ferguson and Emerton. The question is whether or not Thompson is ahead of Tugay. Of course, for the games where we are feeling slightly more ambitious we could always play 5 in midfield, and then put Thompson, or even Jansen, in just behind the front two, and play Gray, Matteo and Neill at the back.

It's impossible to try and predict what are team is at the moment until we have finished all of our transfer dealings for the summer. Until then, this is really all just idle speculation.

  2. We were relegated once, with a team that included Duff, Dunn and Jansen.

Things aren't decided because of one player. I'm hoping that Dickov isn't in oure first choice pairing come the start of the season. I hope that either Jansen is handed another chance to prove himself or we bring someone new in, but I don't think if we do end up with Dickov that it will be the end of the world.

Then again, I do live in France, and I have an Italian girlfriend, oh...I may have taken things a bit off topic there and I don't like it when that happens. huh.giftongue.gif

  3. Sorry if I sounded full of myself that was not my intention.

No Kamy was just pulling your leg.

Always respected you as a source, one of the few reliable ones on here!

By the Way...Camara seems to be a sensible shout. Just can't see how that would all add up though with him having action taken against him at Wolves and all. I wouldn't be unhappy though if he was the one we replaced Cole with.

  4. I'm not very happy at the moment.

In my opinion the prospects for the season have just got a lot worse. We have two young developing strikers who will turn out to be great players but aren't there yet, an old scottish one who everyone knows is really just a bit part player at this level, and one of the most talented players i've ever seen play for rovers, though he sadly is no longer the player he used to be. We better get someone else in, and injury, or even worse, two, up front and we will really be in trouble.

I bet it will feel a lot worse when I see Cole come up on the bottom of the ticker on the first day of the season as well dry.gifmad.gifsad.gif

  5. Please, please, please. If we get rid of Cole can we bring in someone younger. I feel Cole is just about as good as they come relative to his age for playing in the premiership that is out there that we could get. So I see no point in getting rid of him simply to bring in someone who is only going to last for a couple seasons. Bring in someone with some experience, but also with age on his side, and I know that, that is not easy, and is also expensive, but I think the club will have to step up and do this in order to both excite the supporters, and give the club a chance of getting back to the standards it set a couple of seasons ago.

  6. For some of us T4E this offers the best, or even only, way for us to get accurate (of course not always) information and news regarding Blackburn, and also, as is basically my case, it offers the only place where we can have a discussion about British football with those who know the game well. Nice as it is to see a topic you are interested in ruined by someone who wants to include some irrelevant inside joke into the subject I'd prefer to see it not happen.

You are right, it's not a G8 summit, but at the same time the message board is not a joke site. The message board is there for football discussion with of course the banter and jokes that come along with it. For those who want to simply have a laugh there is the ICBINF section where you can basically do whatever you please and if anyone is interested they will become involved.

  7. I think all of the problems that have been highlighted here are connected. Often opinions are repeated and questions asked that have already been answered, this is obviously a result of members not reading all of what has been posted previously on the relevant thread. This may well be a result of the fact that so many posters end up getting involved in inside jokes and conversations unrelated to the topic nowadays in topics that don't need it, that many members cannot be bothered to catch up as they know they may end up reading a topic where 50% of the posts have nothing to do with what they are trying to learn about.

Of course, no matter what happens, this will happen, and that is fine. It is normal that sometimes members of this board, who often become good friends, will engage in friendly banter and conversations not directly related to Blackburn Rovers or football. However, I feel that nowadays this happens all too often, and I suppose the most I can do is to do my best to no longer become involved in topics that I see are starting to become jokes rather than serious conversations.
