It appears you only come on here to say all we do is moan. If we had your discernment eh?

No we wouldn't! I know this because we didn't! There were regrets that we had to force Speedie out after all he'd done but, collectively, we wet ourselves with excitement.

We knew who he was alright. You're making this up!

No I'M not i remember it well

I watched the you tube clips and he looks reasonable, rather than excellent. Also - maybe as a result of playing on the wing in those clips - I was a bit surprised to see him more as a face to goal drift wide type, rather than a Danny Graham style hold up which is what I assumed we were after.

Anyhow as we are clearly going to play one up top this season having the choice of Graham, Armstrong and Brereton seems a decent stable.

Well i guess you or a lot of fans would have said the same when we bought Shearer, remember who's he why have we let Speedie go, the rest is history, now i'm not saying Brereton is the new Shearer by any stretch of the imagination, just making the point if you tube was alive in 1993 we would be saying the same thing.

What would that normally cover? Wages?

Obviously it's just hypothetical, but I'm sure the club will have it figured out somehow. Just not sure how.

Good grief chaps we have just signed one of the brightest prospects in years, you would never have dreamt this last season and still some of you are complaining, any player can have an injury thats football, unlucky or not injury or not  he is here to stay, he is ours so please stop the what if this and what if that, enough already.

Weird.  He's effectively ended his career as a first choice keeper.  Although you would assume Heaton or Pope may go to one of the big guns within the next 12 months.

Both goalkeepers are injured one of them maybe for the season the other a few months which is why they have had to look at Hart.

I didnt Bowyer was paying for training facilities.

I knew he was close to Sunderland job

After reading some articles on the Blackpool gazzette website that I suggest he left due to a player being sold and not being allow to invest in the squad

Well if Bowyer was paying for the training facilities more fool him, thats what the managers and players union are for, he should have gone to them, also says a lot about his pay off from the Rovers, unless your minted even a non league manager wouldn't pay for training. In other words he did bloody well out of us.

Haha! He doesn't count as whichever side of the moaner/non-moaner wall you fall on, you know he is a wind up merchant.

God knows what would have happened if this messageboard was available back in the day we SOLD SPEEDIE and got a young Alan Shearer.

I'm in the camp of "Yes we were quite poor for large parts of last season". The comparison being Wigan who destroyed most teams and looked like a Championship outfit,

However, there are a few reasons for this. I think Mowbray's style of play is not to have the majority of the ball, so isn't going to be pretty when opposition teams just sit back and defend, which happened a lot.

To our credit, we were generally very good at creating chances even when teams did sit back and try to frustrate us. I also think that we defended reasonably well all season - much more organised than we've been for a while.

I think I said it earlier in the season, but we're not far off a decent team. I think a pacey winger and a decent central midfielder would transform the team. Best performance of the season was probably Wigan with Bennett in the middle. But I don't think this was replicated because Evans is far too pedestrian.

So, without signings, I think we're struggling in the bottom half, but not certain relegation.

Well i saw both matches we played Wigan, and even with 9 men we were the better team, so here's  the deal, lets see who ends up higher in the championship, as i recall the last time Wigan were in the championship Will Grigg was definatley not on fire.

Thanks. Can you let us know when that might be?

    before August the 12th ?

But seriously TM is now back from holiday so prediction is,  as soon as this week or early next week. I will be in Germany next week so i will revisit this particular page then and probably eat humble pie. (or schnitzel)

And let's not forget his writing off of Graham, subsequently retracted by saying he advocated selling him rather than writing him off. Answers on a postcard for what the difference between the 2 is.

Now 112 pages and no signings, and all along slight bickering of who said this and who said that,  this players not good enough, that players not good enough, players we have now etc, etc, chill out boys and girls  and lets see who TM brings in, then you can start to diss.

You are forgetting the disparity in size.Blackburn and Darwen---about 100000?

Liverpool 880000! Comparing proportions doesn't really come into this. They could even have a larger % of people on low incomes but still have hundreds of thousands more with higher.

Besides, Liverpool has a vast fanbase outside Liverpool---including Blackburn! even having 2 clubs there doesn't change that.

The crowds will gradually come back if we do well, I agree with that. Burnley manage on less than 20000.

Agree  and yes the fan base will always be significantly lower than Liverpool, but i do think lots of lets say less well off liverpool fans located in Liverpool paid a hell of a lot to get to Kiev.

If we make a decision to charge less than the competition due to the economic situation of the town of Blackburn, then can we expect to compete with the many city clubs that now make up the second tier?

As an aside, I can imagine the percentage of our season ticket holders that reside in BB1 and BB2 have decreased somewhat this past decade or so, as demographic change has seen many fans move further afield, so we aren’t wholly reliant on the prosperity of the town (nor should we be if we want to be successful in the future).

Maybe but football is different, if we are doing well the crowds will come back if only slowly, look at the liverpool fans last week forking out more than our season ticket price to get to Kiev for one game,  i dont think the majority of liverpool people are on 50% more wages than the people of Blackburn.

Do you think that maybe the reason we haven't heard anything from Mowbray since he got back from India is because he is considering his future due to the Venkys telling him he has no money to spend?

Maybe just maybe he and his staff are trying to tie players + new players down before word gets out how much he has to spend, think positive fellow rovers.

But jack Marriott who has played 1 year in league 1, and is transfer listed, is being valued at over £5m?

dack has won league 1 player of the year twice in three years, selling him for £3m would be daylight robbery

Agree there buddy,  But here we go again with certain posters saying Dack will be sold etc, exactly the same,  this time last year when relegated, Mulgrew, Graham, et al would be sold, no way would they stay and play in L1, no way could we pay their wages,  well they were wrong then and they are wrong again now.

I dont think Tony Mowbray tells lies, he spoke to the Venkys last summer and gave them a choice, he certainly,  and they somewhat delivered, he now wants a team to compete, in the championship, selling your best player would be crazy.
