Plastic Head Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Looking for a few decent bets on opening day. 4 win bets stick out in the Prem. Middlesboro are 3.4 on betfair against Spurs, not nailed on by any means but too big a price. West Ham are 11/10 to beat Wigan, should be odds in IMO. Fulham at 2-1 look a good bet at Hull. Also sorry to say Everton at 11/10 look a decent price. Championship is tricky as usual but Ipswich at t'turf (5/2) and Southampton who played OK last week at 5/2 to beat Big Club at home look good prices. L1 banker is Carlisle to beat Crewe at 1.72. The rest are hard to call. L2 the Port Vale/Chesterfield double pays just over 2-1. Of the rest, Anderlecht to win at Cercle Brugge at a tasty 2-1 and Schalke to beat Hannover at 1.78. My grandad always said never bet on anything that can speak so might be better sticking to the GGs. In that case O'Toole (4.15 Bangor) has completely lost his way since some good efforts at Cheltenham last year and a return to anything like that form should see him with a good EW chance at least at 16/1 (betfair). Was second in this race last year and ground/track/weights are in his favour.

Sandiway Blue Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 £5 double on Fulham to beat hull and bolton to beat stoke will (hopefully!) return £25.
ebenrocks Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Blackburn to score 5+ goals is 100/1... worth it.
novella Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 just put about 4 quid on arsenal, fulham and spurs to win. returns about 30 quid.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Good luck with all the bests anyway guys, Basically is Arsenal don't win half of us are screwed!
philipl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Blackburn to score 5+ goals is 100/1... worth it. er, whatever. I can think of better charities to make donations to than the bookmakers. If you had watched Everton v PSV you would have seen that PSV could have 90% of the posession, literally, but they couldn't even force the Everton back line to break sweat. Anyway as the Prem kicks off: Arse slam dunk Bolton to shade it as the more frightened of the two Rovers take advantage of the Incesurprise at Goodison Hull to shade it on enthusiasm Boro to win the match of the week-end WHam to shade it Sunderland to get a draw against clueless Rafa Villa to thump Citeh Chelsea to ease past Pompey Man U boring win cue talk of the treble
Ossydave Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I'm just hoping that rocky is playing, with nicko reporting 2 absentees - emo + ?? Do you get refund if he doesn't play ?? Aye you get your cash back. SSN are reporting rocky and emerton are fit at the moment.....so fingers crossed
Plastic Head Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 Santa Cruz first scorer - stuck £40 on at 7/1 Decent odds that.... Blackburn to score 5+ goals is 100/1... worth it. Before October???
DeadlyDirk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Santa Cruz first scorer - stuck £40 on at 7/1 Good to see Roque starting, best of luck to you!
philipl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Your uncle Philip has got them all correct so far.
Plastic Head Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 Showing a 25% profit before the Anderlecht game. Bury seem to have made big strides this summer. Soton were a tad unlucky again by all accounts.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Well mine all went down the pan! Good luck philip, I would expect Chelsea and Utd to win, probably expect Villa to beat City tomorrow too, hope Sunderland get you a draw tonight!! How much you got on it?
philipl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Well mine all went down the pan! Good luck philip, I would expect Chelsea and Utd to win, probably expect Villa to beat City tomorrow too, hope Sunderland get you a draw tonight!! How much you got on it? nothing- I don't bet!
AussieinUk Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Your uncle Philip has got them all correct so far. Well impressed so far Philip!
philipl Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Well impressed so far Philip! Torres' 82nd minute showed the wisdom of my not betting!
DeadlyDirk Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Torres' 82nd minute showed the wisdom of my not betting! There is always one that ruins it!! Today I'd have to go for Chelsea to win Man Utd to win Villa and City to draw Celtic to win
Plastic Head Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 Great 3-0 away win for Anderlecht completed a good weekend. You can pick up decent prices on European games on Betfair if you can be arsed to familiarise yourself with other leagues. Also in Belgium, Liverpools opponents in the UCL Liege warmed up for Anfield with a 3-1 win at the mighty Dendermonde.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I just wish I had bet on Stoke to be relegated, they've already paid out after one game! http://blog.paddypower.com/index.php/2008/...s-out-on-stoke/ Hahahaha, Tony Pullis is not happy.
DeadlyDirk Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Plenty of bets on today and over the weekend, Accumulator for today is Blackburn vs Hull Liverpool vs Boro Newcastle vs Bolton Spurs vs Sunderland Fulham vs Arsenal Birmingham vs Barnsley Celtic vs Falkirk Not particulary confident this week, pretty tough to pick some of them, could well be a few draws.
