Dear Alf

I know all about "wealth creation" thank you because I read (among many others) this publication every day. www.ft.com. I don't agree with all its views but it's a fascinating read if you're prepared to open that tiny mind of yours.

In fact, there's a comment piece in it today by Philip Stephens about the excesses of the boardroom. I could have written it myself if I had been more literate. Here's the link

http://www.ft.com/cm...l#axzz1TpMz7bjb

Read it very carefully because it sums up why, in addition to corporate tax evaders such as Jack Walker, this is the debate the country should be having.

Best,

Wolfy

Thenodrog,

I do know the difference between "tax evasion" & "tax avoidance." Which is why quoted the latter. So no need for your reply.

Jack Walker did his move to Jersey and his tax avoidance after he got Walker Steel up and running, so your potted history of his business is not really relevant. We can all read it on this web site anyway thanks to other contributers. Notably FLB.

Just one thing though, you commented that:

I can't speak for Jim (although I suspect he is well able to speak for himself) but I attended my first match at Ewood in 1962. So I take umbrage at some internet keyboard idiot (you) telling me what I should or should not do; nor to describe my comments as "irrational bitterness."

BTW, Walker Steel acoountants wouldn't have let Uncle Jack within a mile of him sinking so much money into Rovers. It was Jack's personal and private choice.

So think on before you get really angry and insult your fellow poster again.

Take more water with it next time you post.

Cheers

No doubt in your perfect world Jack walker would have stayed here or risked forfeiting his business to state control and been a sitting duck for the taxman. A cash cow for the state. We'd still be travelling to Grimsby and Brentford, we'd never have seen Shearer play in the blue and white halves, nor Tugay, nor Freidel, nor Speedie, nor..... etc. The Riverside would be our best stand and the Prem title and the Worthy Cup would be pipe dreams. Nice.

Thenodrog,

Why would Jack Walker have "risked forfeiting his business to state control?" Was there some policy of nationalising businesses at the time he moved to Jersey? Would his move to Jersey have had any influence on this "state control" that you mention? I think you may like to explain in a little more detail. If no one else is interested I certainly am. I'd like to hear how that would have happened.

As I've already mentioned, there is a distinct separation between Jack moving to Jersey to avoid UK taxes, which happened in 1974 & his wonderful influence on Rovers which he took over 16 years later. Can you not see that? Have a quiet sit down and consider that two are in no way linked.

All the best with this

Cheers

Colin

Good old Jack ..... made himself a hundreds of millions on the sweat and hard labour of ordinary Blackburn folk while paying them a pittance and then cleared off to Jersey to evade his taxes. Wouldn't have expected anything less of a Tory voter. Still, at least Rovers benefited from all the tax he evaded so everyone is happy.

Alernatively he could have paid his taxes and let this silly sod (your hero and in your stated opinion the best Chancellor since time began) spew the lot and we'd still be meandering around the lower leagues and his family would be back of Providence St ......

Oh btw Jim / Colin. Timely to ask if you two care to leave a comment here outlining your views again...

Dear Alf,

Terry Smith is just your average Tory-voting City type so i think his views can be discounted. He also became extremely rich during 13 years of Labour rule - rather like your good self in fact.

I've no problem with Jack Walker. Love him to bits. Just wish he'd paid his taxes like everyone else.

Best wishes and please try again,

Still insisting on attempting to defend the indefensible I see. I suppose even Hitler had a mother who loved him.

You appear to have adopted the nickname of Alf for me so would you mind if I refer to you as a 'mother' from now on?

Welcome back Rosie.

Yes, we are the same old curmudgeons.

Just treat us like you would your grandad in an old folks home. Or perhaps Abe Simpson. You won't go far wrong.

A sense of humour is needed sometimes.

same old same old - I've not been on here for 2 years and still the same people arguing the same type of points!

too true rosie. stupid old buggers don't even realise that they are being played by the oldest, biggest con ever played on humanity - the private banking system. It invented both capitalism and socialism to divert attention from its parasitism. They are too addicted to their tribalism that they woudn't feel the truth if it hit them in the face with a baseball bat. For anyone that can get a copy read "The lost science of money" by Stephen Zarlenga and look at websites like postivemoney.org.uk - you might start to get an idea of what the REAL problems are.

btw Thanks to the Conservative Party elevating the Liberal party to hitherto unimaginable political standing is your social status now classed as important, very important or very very important?

Oh btw 2 welcome back.

And it's equally rich coming from you!!!

at least Rosie and Tim (?) got off their rears and did something they believed in, rather than pontificate on a football website.

Talk about people who talk the talk, but can't walk the walk.

Yep Dave, but once their party joined the Conservatives, they became just as irrelevant.

Btw did they ever believe that's what their party would do?
