Speaking of compo, did the compensation for Finneran ever get sorted?

Finneran compo will very likely never be fully revealed, although is probably sorted at this point and will almost certainly  be in the initial 10s (possibly low 100s) of £K, with the vast majority based on future achievements and sell on fees

Mm, interesting. Maybe Newcastle are getting cold feet ?

Newcastle's actions/use of Finneran do not suggest that is the case.  When fit, he has been a regular in their U21s since just before he turned 17 in February, and he has played more minutes for their U21s this season than any other player currently under the age of 18.  All of which would suggest they rate him rather highly.

Even if they did have cold feet, it wouldn't matter one jot, he signed a contract with them and compensation is payable, they are merely hoping that by stalling for as long as possible, Rovers will get desperate and accept a lower amount/sell on fee etc.  Unfortunately they are probably not wrong

Has there been a finalisation or progress report recently upon the action vs Newcastle regarding Rory Finneran?

Short answer is "no"

Everything we know (I think) is attached above

In the absence of the Club providing confirmation of the position it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that there has been no settlement?

as per the previous post, no settlement had been agreed as of early November (according to Nixon).

What I will add is that even once an arrangement is made

- the initial fee will likely be a few £100K at most, with the lions share being based on future appearances, his part (if any) in Newcastle's successes, International appearances, sell on % etc

- Rovers will probably never announce it anyway
