I wonder if our new scouting network (Ha ha) has unearthed a young Waggy? No need for too much pace - just give the magician the ball

  2. Sorry I just don't get all this panic now. The Vs seem to me to work in different ways than the expected. It's happened nearly every year when money suddenly appears in the last week of pre season. I am bloody convinced (probably misguided) that they don't want to pay wages for our "4 signings" whilst we are in pre season with no income coming in. I am convinced they look at 4 said signings on a combined 40 to 50 grand per week and think let their current clubs get them fit - not us Guv. Six weeks inactivity equals over 1/4 million saved.

RT, Russia Today, it's a website, TV station... I know that much. It is Russian state media.

But I say, there's plenty of time to discuss doping, this to me, sounds like a windup....but have at it if you care.

Russia has had a very good World Cup,  no matter how this ends up.

The Moscow Times is an okay news outlet: https://themoscowtimes.com/

This is not a wind up. Check the stats, check the whistleblowers comments. Tarnished by corrupt FIFA and Putin. The nerve agent attacks weren't state sponsored? Get real

I'm not sure you can accuse 23 people of taking 'banned substances' based on stats? And you didn't answer my question which one of the Fake News media outlets do you work for?

The athlete whistle blower will do for me. Why would he say that if over 300 athletes from Russia have been banned? Ah no, you know better obviously. I bow to your superior patronising know nowt knowledge

There's one problem there, there is no such company as Russia Today. So more false information.

Yes there is as I get my pay from them every month

  5. This competition is a total joke. There is going to be some sort of inquest 1 month after the comp finishes with drug testing of all participants. The Whistle blower from Russia (now in hiding) of the Olympic Athletes has stated the Russians will be full of banned substances as it is state sponsored. How on gods earth can they run so many more miles more than the opposition? FIFA should have banned them at same time as IOC and moved the tournament.

It will give him more strength allowing him to hold off the defender, meaning he will be able to get a better first touch on the ball.

Sorry but that comment is complete and utter horlicks! You can't improve a first touch if you don't have the ability to do so in the first place. All the personal fitness trainers in the world can't alter that bit! You make some good posts then completely balls it up with silly statements like the above

  7. I just think it' a bit sad that 22 years after El Tel told the FA that they needed to tap into the knowledge and expertise of ex England footballers to help us improve seems to have fallen on deaf ears. They are not all managers and nor would they need to be. They have experience of heartache (1996) and failure since then. What a bloody waste

Bobby Robson was great manager. His achievements with England, Ipswich and Newcastle was excellent.

Yes Stuart I agree with your embarrased comment when they sacked him

Errmm I think the name he mentioned was Bryan Robson not Bobby. I was only talking about footballers I have seen. Unfortunately I never saw Robson (Bobby) or Clough (Brian) in their playing days

No where did I say he would be great manager did I.

Pep, Conte, Pochettino, Zidane, Ancoletti, have all had good footballing careers and managerial careers aswell. I agree with @Oldgregg86 comment below and I think he is 100% correct

No wonder people get angry with u chaddy. The gist of your post was Lampard would be successful just because of his playing career. I was just pointing out that this is not usually the case with ex England 'greats'.  In my lifetime only Jack Charlton has achieved as a manager (and even he admits he was a bit of a donkey footballing wise). So thanks but don' be so sanctimonious

Lampard footballing experience and knowledge plus his worldwide contacts. Plus he has experience people Harry Redknapp around him.

Lampard will aim high and try to get promotion this season despited the cutbacks..

So did Bobby Charlton (twice or thrice the player Lampard was),  Nobby Stiles, Geoff Hurst, Alan Ball, Brian Kidd etc etc. An international footballer does not always = great manager!

Huge season for Sunderland next season. If the club doesn’t get sold, their current owner seems totally uninterested.

Not totally sure of the debts they have but I can’t imagine it’s small.

Its going to be a total rebuild for them in the summer with little funding but like us, probably need to be coming back up at the first attempt.

I do have some sympathy with them just because we’ve been through similar with awful owners resulting in league one football.

Looking on their MB and info from my brother in law I believe they owe short upwards of 160 million. He is trying to give the club away with the proviso he receives 60 million and any new owners take on the remaining debt of over 100 million. Jack Rodwell currently on 70k per week which reduces to a 'mere' 42k per week in League 1. He refuses to play for them! They are arrogant pricks most of their fans. They call us a nothing club! Coming from them jeeze......

  12. Hi. Been an avid Rovers supporter for around 45 years and have held a season ticket in the Riverside for the past 10 years(when I moved back to the area after finishing my RAF career). Will not be renewing next season though unless Coco and the Venscums sod off!!
