Are you saying that his wages are/were/will be covered by insurance?

If so I have never heard of that before. I know insurance claims can be made when a player has to retire through injury - is that what you are implying?

Yes insurance pays for players wages for all injuries regardless of the length of the injury. This is funded by all players having a portion of their wages paid into the policy when they are not injured

Gladwin has suffered a string of knee injuries ever since he's been here. Lately, he suffered a setback in his rehabilitation, meaning he probably won't be training with the first team in pre-season. In short, he'll be lucky to be in contention for the first-team before the year is out.

This is purely one-way - to help out Gladwin and see how he's doing in January, with potentially another deal on the table. On evidence so far, he's not good enough for the first team - a "lummox" as @jim mk2 once called him (and I don't think he's far wrong).

I think it's easy for Rovers as a "family" club to be a bit of a comfort zone; things done in the name of good, but not necessarily of any benefit to our progression. There's been some discussion in another topic about how Villa are "cheats" and a horrible team. That would be the Villa that are in the play-off final. Leeds did all that evil spygate stuff and brought in a number of players from their Spanish scouting network. That would be the Leeds that got comfortably into the play-offs after years of not a whole lot of anything.

We have to become ruthless and think ONLY about winning as a club mentality - stop being nice, and become the club that puts winning first and foremost, rather than being human. Being human will get us nowhere in this fast-moving game, especially if we want promotion. Stop "giving chances" to players for the sake of it, and bring in better ones if they're available.

Let's hope that's what Mowbray does this summer, and Gladwin stays as a forgotten man.

What a load of bloody old horseshit! The lad doesn't deserve all that crap. Whatever happens regarding his contract will not cost the club a penny. Believe me his insurance will be picking up whatever that tab is. Blackburn Rovers have to be above being  "ruthless" and "ONLY about winning". Take that route if you want but the club will be dead. Whatever happened to looking after the 'family'. You sound like someone who would be one of Thatchers favourites from the 80s. All me,me,me and more me and sod everyone else. "Bottle of your finest wine my man and be quick about it"

    An Exclusive reported on-line on the " Independent's " website ....

" The Football Association and the Football League have backed a proposal from The National Association of Football Statisticians to downgrade the first 22 years of the FA Cup, to the equivilant of the FA Amateur Cup which commenced in 1893-94, and ran until the 1973-74 season.

The years affected run from 1872 to 1893, and the winners of the Cup for those years will not be permitted to claim these successes as FA Cup wins on their official Club websites or publications. Explaining the reasoning, N.A.F.S. Secretary, Dr John Hickson said " Any objective analysis of the early years of the " FA Cup " reveals a large number of " byes ", " walkovers " and hugely one-sided results, and in the modern age, we no longer feel it appropriate that these early incarnations of the greatest Club knockout Cup should be classed as true F.A. Cup Competitions ". He added, " The dominance of Public School Old Boys and Military Clubs in the early years, as well as mis-matches with the early Professional Clubs coming up against "true amateur " sides, does not sit well in the modern professional age ".

An FA spokesman endorsed the decision, which is expected to be passed unopposed at next month's FA Council meeting, where the renaming of the Football Association, as the " English Football Association " is also expected to gain approval .

Some of the affected downgrading concern Clubs no longer in existance, such as Wanderers, Royal Engineers and Clapton Rovers. David Singleton, West Bromwich Albion's head of media relations said, " We accept this decision with some reluctance, but understand the reasoning behind it " . West Bromwich Albion will no longer be able to claim their 1888 & 1892 victories on their official " Roll of Honour" .

Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston North End are also affected losing one victory each, but the Club most affected is Championship side Blackburn Rovers who will have 5 of their FA Cup wins effectively deleted from the history books. No one at Blackburn Rovers was available for comment, although a source inside the Club said " they were studying the implications of the decision closely, and a statement is expected to be issued in due course ".

'Kin hell you're trying a Jon Agnew/Geoff Boycott wind up. Fair play. Posters will fall for it big time ???

At the clarets rate of collecting major trophies it will be roughly another 450 years before they reach our current figure! I may not be around at that time mind ???

Credit to the Bolton fans today, hardly stopped singing and in general having a good time with some witty chants.

The Bassini chants may be premature mind you

Credit to those who stayed for 2nd half. Stood outside JW at half time and loads walked out. Think they were trying to head to town centre for a fight. Quickly followed by a van full of fuzz so dont think they made it ???

I'm sure Reg Elvy played wearing a flat cap and sometimes a pair of glasses.

That night in Bolton when Faz scored our winning goal, there were over  33,000 on for a 3rd Division match.  No segregation then.

I returned to Hoghton to enjoy some pints of brilliant Boddingtons in The Old Oak.

    What a great night!

Must have been 8 or 9 thousand from rovers that night from what I can remember as a 11 year old

Beg to differ. Walking to and from the Turd was a pleasant stroll; every trip to and from Burnden was a heart-stopping footrace and sheer luck of the draw if you got battered or not.

The turd was a piece of piss to take over. We always used to take the entire town when we played each other regularly. Now Burnden was a different beast altogether in my lifetime. Although my dad tells me we used to take the Lever End with ease in the 60s when all the greebos/bikers latched on to Rovers and there were some hard bastards who frightened the shit out of you???

I remember after the Fraz game being chased to the station by a bloke painted red. Quite an unnerving thing for a 14 year old.

I remember going on the football special for the Faz game in 73 with my dad. My only fond memory of that shit hole. Sure there was 33000 on that night. Next visit in 76 resulted in me having 12 stitches in my head after being ambushed by a mob by the steps outside the railway end. Saved by a bloke in his 20s/30s from Bolton who then proceeded to give the ringleader a good smack!

I think he away win vindicates Mowbrays team selection.

Honest question, can those who wanted more youngsters to start hold their hands up and say they wouldn't have critisiced Mowbray in some form if we lost?

I wanted a different team, but if we lost I wouldn't be happy. Now I am :)

Which bloody way do you want it? At 1.55pm today your reply to my post that none of the u23s were involved today was " Shocking if true". Now you're asking "those fans" who wanted their involvement to hold their hands up!

Does that mean that once 12k people have paid for theirs, the next 1k get them cheaper and so on? I'd just wait until the last day in the hope 14k have already been sold and I get 20% off. Won't everyone?????

No. It means that once 12k have been sold everyone gets the discount and then same again for 13k and then 14k. Puts it in the hands of the supporters

Nah, the previous post was non-specific. However, I can see that you were having trouble quoting a post properly so I'll make allowances for you.

No. if you have been taught how to read it states as he was walking to the match which usually implies pre kick off time. As you are unable to comprehend English properly I will make allowances for you.

You've seen the picture on this thread of the lad with his head cut open? It must have been a heavy handbag.

That was before the match if you can read. I was talking about after the match as alluded to in the previous post. Heavy handbags is probably your sport of choice

  13. It was a bit of handbags at 10 paces tbh. We were a group of about 13 ( mostly in our 50s) waiting for our minibus. However we had one lad with us pissed as a fart goading everyone and everything Preston. One Nobber took exception and they squared up to each other (finished up like the lion from wizard of oz. Both saying put em up, put em up). We just laughed as did most Nobbers as the fuzz were filming everything
