Did the Fleck deal not go through after the McGuire one though? If so, how the hell did it get missed?

Asked this, they are all uploaded into different folders, and there is not actually anything on the screen that puts all the deals on one page as their status, its certainly appears to be an issue with this software. I actually asked this also in the players meeting yesterday and was given the same answer as I'd been given my the other 3

They ordered curry after a successful window? Even with McGuire on loan it was a shit window.

@glen9mullan was any detail shed about the Wharton money and if thats as we all expect just vanished?

The money is to be paid in instalments. It was not blocked from being used in January, however I'm told that the club cannot guarantee how much of this can be reinvested until the budgets are agreed in India April 2024. Interim forecast will be sent in March, and at present Rovers will show a significant profit, well within FFP. I believe the intention is to make a business case for a fixed % of transfer fees received to be reinvested however, this is very much a moving dart board with the Raos funds still in the air with the courts,

Indeed so, after last January if I'm in Broughton's shoes I am not trusting anybody involved with last year's fiasco. I'd literally be checking every single detail myself to make sure nothing had gone wrong, as opposed to ordering celebratory curry, especially if the deal had been supposedly concluded at least 2 hours before the deadline. That is a lot of time to make absolutely and irrefutably sure that nothing had gone wrong. Whilst it's true that the mistake is ultimately made by one person, I'm gobsmacked that nobody in the building thought it wise to make absolutely sure everything was completed correctly.

I don't know why, Just writing what I've learnt,

Either way its a complete shambles

A lot of people including myself stated days before the transfer window ended that the Wharton money wouldn’t be re invested and there would be some bs or mental reason why we didn’t . And shock horror it happened. This was by design and I will not be convinced otherwise

Id like to believe this, but it just was not the case, it was a loan to buy and they had him holding up the shirt, if sabotage was at play it would still point to one guy, the only one with the login details

So, it's uploaded by 9 pm but noticed that it's not been sent at 11.04 pm, just after the window has closed.

Is there no auto confirmation of receipt by the EFL.

Did no one at Rovers check ... Anything

WTF were they doing for those missing 2 hour

This next line is not allowed so I'll stop there.

    Eating curry

Any idea who was feeding The Athletic the story that the transfer had been cancelled mid-flight, Glen, if indeed this was not the case? They're usually spot on with their stories, so it's surprising they'd say this without having a good source.

Understand what you're saying in regards to one person making a mistake, but at the same time if I'm GB I am double-checking everything after last January and not taking anybody at their word.

I would say had it been me, I'd of been ringing EFL To confirm they have everything , but clearly this did not happen

Not doubting your intel Glen, but it’s a bit odd that this fella is suddenly buggering up on a grand scale when he’s processed hundreds of transfers over the course of his career.

Mistakes happen, I make them at work, we probably all do,

I've never worked at a football club, and can imagine transfer deadline is manic. This is not new to rovers, we were cocking transfers up when Shaw was here, same secretary.

Those who know him says he is a stickler for attention to detail, but taking away the 3 deals in the last 18 months, we've had these things happen previously, so obviously not that into the detail

I heard Mike Cheston and Ashfaq Hassan have both left. Not sure under what circumstance and for legal reasons I must stress that is not confirmed and doesn’t necessarily mean it’s connected.

    Ashfaq left at Xmas,

Cheston I believe has not left ,though his departure been on the cards for about a year as he wanted to retire last year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he departs in the near future or is working a notice period.

Neither related to the latest fiasco

  10. Reading around the net as a whole, there appears to be far more approval (Even read one tweet suggesting a GB Statue), regarding our business.

Seen a number of posts, suggesting JDT Better not complain as we have not only delivered but gone above and beyond with the best window in years.

Read some post suggesting there is a core of spoilt brats in the supporter base who would rather we spunk the money away that ain't even cold from hitting the bank, and risk the long term future of the club, to prove they are right in terms of the club not being financially supported.

Read posts of Venky.s would if they could , send funds and we need to help them, and Wharton realised this as a fan, and sacrificed himself for the rest of us.

Shocking amount of post suggesting we are well run, and have taken a mature view to the window and not only have options but some incredible ones.

My own view is the same view as it was before the window, we have again gone quantity over quality, and to add to that picture take short terms options leaving a mammoth rebuilding job in the summer, when the fees generated is whittled away to cover operating costs, and we head out for more loans to build a team.

Nothing against any of the players we've signed, they need to be given a chance, and always will be as its what we do. A mixture of age and youth, so some balance there, but totally underwhelmed of the markets we find ourselves in due to piss poor management, from owners to CEO's to FDS,

I won't be fooled with this loan to buy scenario as we get these all the time and come the time to buy, the criteria has not been met and we send them on the merry way

I don’t believe the local media reports for a second. They stink of reporting the Rovers PR line.

Think about it - why do you inform people at midnight that a transfer isn’t happening, for a flight that lands at 8AM if there’s a potential hiccup in the Wharton deal? You don’t! You wait until the morning when you get clarification on the Wharton situation because the player is on a plane regardless. The plane isn’t turning around, there’s no need to inform anyone the deal isn’t happening until the player is at Brockhall with a pen in his hand.

SWAG Probably said , cancel hotel for him, cant afford it now.

Also don't put fuel in Swaggott's wheels to pick him up at the airport as we aint paying overtime to the driver to pick a player up we cant afford.

Let Orlando know they need to pick up bill.

The penny pinching git, do anything to save a pound

Unfortunately as things stand, following this football club provides me with no happiness or excitement. These owners and their board have taken all the joy out of what used to be my favourite thing to do.

Nowadays, for me personally, following Blackburn Rovers means trying to make sense of Indian court documents, arguing with fellow fans on Twitter who support this nonsense and trying to piece together all of the clues to work out what happens next.

Some of the comments from our fanbase make me want to scream in frustration. But the more I think about it, maybe I’m in the wrong. There’s a majority of fans that it feels like are either too naive to read into it any further than surface level, or not intelligent enough to see this for what it is. Perhaps they deserve this and the misery that comes with it? But again… maybe there is no misery if your head is in the sand.

Frankly, at this point, I’m extremely close to giving it all up and trying to find some solace in just going to down to Ewood occasionally and only thinking about Rovers for those couple of hours.

Four times I planned to renew my season ticket this season.and four times chose not to due to the tones coming out the board room.

I didn't think the day would come where I never renewed my season ticket or chose not to go to a single game.

My mind is firmly made up, I won't be renewing next season either , in fact I probably won't buy one again, not whilst we are under this ownership and board.

My brother with his son renewed and has attended just one game, he has zero interest in attending,  whilst my mate also didn't bother.

I've lost complete interest, and would have to Google our next league game to see who we are playing.

Everything this club does from one day to the next,  has driven me further away, and they ain't getting a single dime off me for the foreseeable.

I'm totally disconnected, and feel that they take our support for granted.

Well not any more, they can plough on , in their merry way with the flat earthers who defend their every move because they've lived rent free in my brain long enough

@glen9mullan had a meeting where Waggot explicitly confirmed they needed that funding as it would run out end of January.

So either Waggots lying or we're selling Wharton.

Goes back to the question I asked here the other day, where some were suggesting they can have funds based on previous hearing , and that they couldn't be penalised for the hearing not happening.

Don't know if that's true, though Duncan suggested no.

Maybe we've taken a further loan out against an asset? Or had an indication Raya funds may land, or its based on us selling Wharton, or we've cried poverty in the courts (lied) and have limited funds which we chose not to disclose.

Having money now unless it's come from elsewhere is not consistent with what we was told in December. The club stating they now have funds suggest something has changed since December or they are expecting a cash injection

  14. The pattern with Rovers when they sell is to allow these bids to go public,  usually in the hope of a bidding war.

They did with Philips , they did with Kaminski

It's like they are telling Palace etc you need to be quick because others are in.

I'd be shocked if both ain't sold this window.

We are certainly not seeing the "Not for sale" with these alleged bids being rejected.

They clearly want as much as they can get and with a week to go , hoping to extract as much as they can.

This isn’t absolute gospel, just my understanding of the situation, and I’m no expert. However there is possibly some info that isn’t really widely acknowledged or maybe known:

    - The investigations started back in 2021, initially there were no restrictions on them moving money out of India as the RBI had no objections. This changed in August 2022, at which point it became a requirement that any company under investigation required a No Objection Certificate  (NOC) agreed by the entity doing the investigation - the Enforcement Directorate in this case

    - We received the NOC for remittances in 2022

    - We applied for another on 17th January 2023 which was rejected on 6th March, and a further rejection on the 31st March (for the amount of £26 million). This was rejected on the basis of the “Pedancy of investigation”. After this rejection Venky’s legal team also requested a quick resolution to the ED investigation

    - On the 27th April 2023 Venky’s received correspondence from HMRC threatening a winding up order.

    - On 24th May Venky’s received a letter from BRFC advising them of the potential consequences of not receiving immediate payments (presumably administration)

    - On 23rd June Venky’s were granted permission to transfer £3.5 million based on the potential consequences outlined in the above letter. They were instructed that an equal amount had to be set aside as a guarantee as any future action taken by the ED would be a financial penalty (so presumably they don’t want Venky’s sending over money then pleading poverty if/when they get a fine)

    - On 16th August the ED reported that their investigation would be completed within 15 days

    - On 31st October Venky’s submitted another application for a NOC in which they highlighted the reason for these funds. As we know, this was allowed with some conditions:

A further guarantee of an equivalent sum

Auditors at club have 3 working days to file   an End use Certificate (this certifies club are the end user of these funds and they won’t be transferred elsewhere)

The club must provide bank statements to prove these payments were made

    - In this hearing it was outlined that club activities were not under suspicion, BUT the investigation was only at a “nascent stage”. This is very much contrary to what was reported on August 16th, and suggests these issues could run and run. It also suggests club finances will come under the microscope at some point

    - Wording suggests that future remittances will be allowed, with the same caveats attached, but we’d still need to apply for the NOC, and this would likely not be granted if the club becomes under investigation

So while the money remitted has to be used for the specified purpose, it’s not entirely accurate to state Rovers can’t spend anything that hasn’t had court approval. They don’t care about the minutia of Rovers accounts (yet!), and funds generated by the club can be used for activities outside the scope of the court document (which covered Wages, tax, VAT, loan repayments, utilities and agents fees). So our fixture against Chelsea probably covered a chunk of the O’Riordan fee.

This latest round of funding we went for was likely to cover the same expenses from January til the end of the season. I expect there will be some funds available to cover some of those expenses, generated by TV payments, ticket sales, league payments etc. whether that lasts til the hearing in March, we will have to see. It almost certainly means that our very modest transfer budget has disappeared and we will be in another period of extreme austerity. I’m waiting for the announcement that I can’t sit in the Riverside on Monday.

So we will probably muddle through until the next date in March, with threats of winding up orders and missed payments, unless it gets moved again. Our transfer window plans are of no interest to Indian Courts who have cancelled and delayed several hearings already this year. Maybe there is some sort of contingency (player sale, short term loan). A further delay might be catastrophic though. Either way, this situation has become farcical and can’t continue much longer.

So are you saying. "No hearing no funds"?
