Would you be happy if Ewood was sponsored and renamed?

If it was a decent company and decent amount and a good percentage of it , used to strengthen the team , why not?

Rovers supporters will still refer to it as Ewood whatever it got re-named

Can not see it happening though unless a return to the Premiership or a change of owners.

Not a fan of back of shirt or short sponsors either but necessary evil nowadays, every little counts

They still have to raise £30 million to avoid FFP restrictions and are still in trouble.

    Any comment?

Clever accounting?, stadium sponsorship from a company in a chain of many companies linked to the new money men? ignoring the Football League and finally settling for a small fine in 5 years time or threatening to challenge them? , clubs seem to come up with plenty of ways to get round it

The last 12 months show a slight different trend, regardless of how insignificant you see the achievement of returning from the third tier at first time of asking.

Where in my post did it mention our time in the third division being insignificant? If anything it set that time as different from the previous seasons .

Where was the mention of Venky's in my post?

""The previous six and a half seasons before our season in the third division , perhaps"

  4. Sorry to resurrect and old thread , but whilst doing some ancestry stuff came across this map published 1895 (surveyed 1892 ),  two years after Rovers stopped playing at Leamington Street, Interesting to see a Rover street in the area the ground was,  apparently built around 1885 (4 years after Rovers started playing there)   it became  Wellfield Road around 1900

Even if it's only 1% which seems best case scenario since he's been at two clubs since. An extra £360k will do nicely.

Wonder if the £200k from the Sky Aston Villa game will be rewarded as transfer money. ?

100k, earmarked for disco lights at Balajis NYE bash :)

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of who pays him ? club, owners, both, someone else, combination of all three ???

Or was he there just to generate commission ?

Well officially (job advert) and no doubt on the terms of his work visa the club pay him as a 50k a year errand boy. Would love to see that visa application

Don't think there's much chance of new executives coming in. We're on the bare minimum on that front with 2 having tried to get by with 1 up until last season. We've less executives than a lot of Conference clubs.

I think Waggott was referring to a re-shuffle in terms of the club's management so expect a couple of 'promotions' of existing staff to new positions etc.

Wonder if there is still a grinning ghost of many names in the boardroom? or as he gone back to looking after biscuits and helping just like family members?

    Just proves that money talks.

Does anyone know if Sky pays for policing for live games?

Doubt it ,think it will be the same as non TV games, which I believe is at the tax payers expense unless police enter the ground then costed accordingly.

Some figures on policing of games in various divisions on @FSF_FairCop twitter timeline

It makes you wonder why the FA haven’t changed the laws around youth players, with how poorly they manage their youth set up. However, I’m starting to wonder why we bother with ours, after the announcement to move Scott Wharton out again.

Probably the reason is that they are frightened to death of asking the Premier League if they can

Of the 3 Aussie players i mentioned previously - Daniel Arzani - still no movement but things are obviously happening in the background. Would love the scenario of City signing him up and him being loaned to us but it may be a bridge to far now.

Jamie Maclaren - https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/race-is-on-to-snap-up-in-demand-maclaren. Not the target man striker we probably need but he is a great finisher and wouldn't look out of place at Rovers. Still a possibility.

Brandon Borrello - Signed for Freiburg in the Bundesliga - https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/bundesliga-bound-borrello-signs-for-freiburg

He is recovering from an ACL injury but would have been a great Winger/Striker option.

Maclaren has done well ever since he was released from Rovers in 2013.

Jacob Italiano is another exciting one for the future from Aus , only 16,unfortunately pre signed for  Monchengladbach when he turns 18

As though it only started happening last season...

It's been said by others already, and maybe I'm no expert on the matter, I would've thought that TV money even in the Championship far outweighs a price hike for people when times are only getting harder and harder. If they'd have frozen them, or done some sort of incentive, i.e. kids get a free shirt with a season ticket or something, it would've have got some fans back onside with the running of the club.

    Hey ho...

TV money in the Championship until the new deal kicks in 2019  (in brackets League 1 clubs)

    Live TV Games Home team 100k *  (30k) , Live away team 10K (10k)

*120 k for Sunday games , 140k for Thursday games

Basic award for being in the Championship 2.3Million (732 K)

    PL Solidarity payment :4.5 million (675 K)

Edited: Basic award and PL solidarity payments for 2018/19

when does he have time to go to India cos he doesn't. our last pre season game is 28th July and our 1st league is 4th August.

If the cat needs to have it's claws trimmed by an Harley street vet and he is summoned by Madame to keep it company on the trip, do you think he will tell her to sod off or try and persuade her Waggot would be better company for it?

Take a look at the Rovers team pic on that site....its the earliest known photo of a Rovers team. Some players are wearing the Blue halves on different sides.

I believe the myth about us having a correct way to wear the halves is just that..a myth.

also officially  Cambridge blue is actually green :)

I hope one is Armstrong and the other Barrie McKay who fit the bill the type of winger we need

    Notts Forest player ?

Where as that come from ? only signed for Forest last  July and on a  four year contract, doubt our transfer war chest  of a fiver and a couple of bags of Venky's chicken nuggets would get him

Got orders to clear out the garage of “junk”. So saved a few mementos. Appreciate its nothing to do with pre season but thought would share my trip into the past.

Found the easiest way round these kind of orders is ,

"lets do a swop, you clean my junk out of the garage and I will clean your junk out your wardrobes/under bed storage and cupboards"

needless to say my "junk" is still there :)
