  1. The lack of any formal statement suggests to me that Venky's are still expecting Mowbray to visit Pune before the end of June.

Suhail is the owners 'conduit' ( Mowbray's words ) and I am sure they talk to each other sometimes and since 'plans are in place' for next season, the subject of the manager's position must have come up.

Mowbray has stated that he has no new contract but he has not actually resigned from his current one. He is still the manager until the end of June. I think he has left enough ambiguity to make a U turn and accept a new contract if offered.

  2. “I’ve decided.”

"All I can do is say that there’s been no conversation, no approach, no discussions and we’re a week away from the end of the season, so what do you want me to think? I don’t feel like I’m being disloyal saying anything other than it looks like I’m leaving because there’s no contract discussions and I’m out of contract at the end of the season"

Sounds like he's decided to leave - unless he gets offered a new contract!

Definitely doesn't sound like someone who would turn down a new deal If offered.

I agree. His quote about asking Waggott is a nice way of deflecting the questions. He doesn't once say 'I will consider things' - it's all down to others. He doesn't want to go anywhere and I suspect Venky's will be happy to let him continue.

    The future is bleak.

Does anyone still believe that Venkys actively intervened and refused the Rothwell sale to give us a better shot at promotion?

I'd have hoped that nonsense would have been consigned to the dustbin by now along with most other drivel that they come out with down there.

The reality is that we are such a dysfunctional shambles that even when presented with a lucrative offer that our manager wants to accept they can't get Venkys to answer the phone to sanction it and so the player stays.

Exactly how I see it - and Bournemouth weren't bothered as they had achieved what they wanted to and unsettled the player.

One well run club one shambles of a club.

  5. I was talking to a couple of Preston fans at work and they both asked about 'Rovers throwing matches because the owners don't want promotion'.

I told them this was a bit of an exaggeration - we took the lead at Peterborough with 10 minutes left - not something you would do if you wanted to throw a game. However - I told them the real truth is that the owners don't care if we go up or not and that attitude has permeated the club and shows itself on the pitch.

I just found it interesting that our performances have been so poor and the general ambience of the club is so lackadaisical that opposition fans actually believe we are trying to lose.

    Thanks Venky's

I see very few of those that protested for example on match days, the majority of these have walked away as their final protest.

It's an ongoing protest, not a final one,  but needs to be brought back into focus.

If everybody stops going to Ewood and makes it clear that we won't come back until Venky's leave then we can have an impact.

One day we will return with renewed hope.

I simply can't believe this Mowbray to WBA rumour at all.

Isn't it more likely that he was considered by them a few months ago when we were riding high but that they opted for Steve Bruce instead? Bruce was appointed in February when we were at our peak. That seems the more likely source of these rumours to me.

This is exactly what my Baggie mate told me. There was possibly a very small chance that they would approach Mowbray as a stop gap but no way he is the type of manager WBA are looking for next.

Mowbray was on the scrap heap when we appointed him. It was a lazy, cheap option at the time and WBA won't make the same mistake.

What worries me is that the summer may see Suhail and Cheston in charge of appointing a new manager ( assuming Waggott follows Mowbray out of the door ).

We all know what happened last time! I wonder if Cheston has his holidays booked?

Ainsworth wouldn't be mentioned if he wasn't a Rovers fan. The problem at the moment isn't a lack of effort, we don't need a manager "who knows the club" as if the remit is noticeably different here compared to elsewhere. We need the most competent man to get the best results, nothing to do with who they support.

I personally don't see the point in appointing anyone new now, I get why people would want to roll the dice but by the time someone has been selected, brought in and settled in, the season is over.

    Disagree on both counts.

Mowbray's lack of passion and his 'it's not 1995' attitude are major contributing factors to our lack of success on the pitch. Being manager of Blackburn Rovers is just a job to him. He would rather be elsewhere. I think Ainsworth is worth a punt based on his results at Wycombe on a very small budget and his approach to the management in general - he appears to be a good man manager as well as a good football manager. He has served his apprentiship and deserves a shot. The fact that he loves the club and may well be more proactive in dealing with the owners is an added bonus.

As for potting Mowbray now - why not, get Warnock in and see if he can get 3 or 4 wins from the kast few games to give us a chance of the playoffs. New manager bounce does seem to exist. If it doesn't work then we've lost nothing. Mowbray won't get the requried results.

  9. So, without the financial chicanery regarding the training ground we would have posted a loss of £23.9 million.

While the debts mount and assets change hands and the revenue burden increases, the playing squad is being allowed to fall apart and the ground is becoming dilapidated. We are truly kicking the can down a dead end road.

The fans care, the owners obviously don't. It may be their money that is being wasted but it's our club that will pay the price.

That’s the problem rumour and speculation relying on tittle tattle where wages are concerned - championship football is not away with money even the parachuted clubs have financial issues where wages are concerned big bucks are no longer available unless you want to do a derby

And yet Mowbray admits they can earn double elsewhere - that's not tittle tattle. So other Championship clubs are offering double what we are (none of the three will be  be going to Premiership clubs).

There is something wrong if we can't pay home grown players the going rate.

Do your research and find out for yourself. Its happening across many aspects of the footballing operation. I would respectfully suggest getting an appointment and going to have a chat with the powers that be. Only then will you get some self satisfaction and a real understanding of what is going on behind the scenes. You will see how it compares with your own opinion/views and thoughts as well as the opinions and views of other forum members.

Surely there must be some outward signs of this wave of positivity flowing through the club ?

Research ? Appointments ? It all seems very secret. Do we need to get Louis Theroux on the case ?

I live in hope the next managerial appointment is one that unites the fans and gets us all on board , surely we are due a good un

We will probbaly be united in our disappointment.

We are due a good manager but that would require the owners to spend a little time and effort considering what would be in the best interests of the club. I hold out no hope at all.

We all year things but the truth is nobody knows. We have errant, disinterested owners who still rely on self serving advisors. In my view the biggest indicator is Mowbray going to India. They don't have the bollocks to sack him face to face so why is he going?

I was interested to hear Mowbray's terminology in his interview before the Millwall game. He was talking about Brereton possibly going to Chile while not being fit to play for Rovers.

Mowbray said ( from memory) "I can't influence the situation sat in my office with the owner's conduit".

I presume he is referring to Suhail Pasha but I find it interesting that he did not call him the owner's representative or advisor/spokesman/official. There are so many factors that make it impossible to run the club effectively under Venky's.

I can imagine the same situation on transfer deadline day when all other clubs would have all hands to the pump. Mowbray is sat in his office with a 'conduit' to people who are fast asleep in India and probably wouldn't respond if they were awake.

I'd be ecstatic with a return to the Don MacKay / Bill Fox  / no money period instead of multi billionaire owners with no interest who only communicate through a conduit.

  14. The likes of Hughes, Todd, Savage etc were tough guys but they also had nous and leadership qualities that other players responded to. Their attitude spread throughout the team. We have not had anyone with those characteristics for a long time.

When we go behind in a game there is nobody galvanising and encouraging his team mates. We need a leader as much as we need a hard man.
