That is not true, the Armstrong money is still available to spend
It's in the same piggy bank as the Rhodes money.

I’m arguing that Buckley, Dolan, Gallagher, Brereton are all better than they were last year,
Not much evidence for that argument. Players don't automatically get better season on season.
Was Brereton better in the second half of the season than he was in the first ( was the split 20 goals / 2 goals ?). He may just carry on from where he left off in the second half of last season.

It could be a stroke of genius by Nyambe/his agent.
Probably on a higher wage than at Rovers, not had to uproot his family and no doubt got a decent signing on fee.
If he has a good season he could pocket another signing on fee and get another pay rise somewhere else.
All I know is that Rovers lost a decent player for nothing and will have to pay good money to replace him. We are the losers here.

Rich Sharpe was told that he is unwilling to until the window closes.
Broughton promised to implement the vision of the owners.
He's doing exactly that - ignore the fans and hope they go away.

Hopefully we announce the head of recruitment today and then follow that up with announcing a signing
Maybe we need a Deputy Head of Recruitment ?

DOF - Director of F*ckall
Only a joke - I'm not going to criticise anyone until they have had a chance to prove themselves but I am still worried about the very steep learning curve that he may be facing. Head of Academy at Bodo/Glimt to DOF at Rovers . It's a big jump in my opinion.

I don't know about two left footed centre backs, we will probaly get one centre back with two left feet.

Serious question regarding the perceived ambitions of the owners. Assuming you or I were billionaire owners of Rovers, how actually would we be able to legitimately get anymore money into the club for wages and transfer fees? FFP kills our affordability! Sheikh Mansoor couldn’t fix it, surely?
By applying some thought, care, attention, hard graft. Understanding and engaging with the fan base and local community to get them onside, reduce ticket prices to get more fans in the ground which would help encourage the team and generate more cash revenue at the ground on match days. Inject some enthusiasm to help build up momentum. Maintain the stadium to make it a great experience to vist Ewood, incorporate pre /post match events, better catering.
All these things would help improve the club and would not affect FFP. It's not all about cash. Where there's a will there's a way.
The most important thing a good owner should have is enthusiasm and a love of the club. Our owners may be rich but they offer nothing else.
To answer your question, if you were a billionaire you would try everything possible. Venky's simply don't.

Will the ones you mention go back either? Specifically Accy based lads? Once their kids start going too?
Our heavily dominant position in Hyndburn has gone, probably for good. And that is very worrying for a club with a small catchment area to start with.
It's a fair question and a very good point about the kids - some of them may never have been to Ewood so may not want to go there even if their parents do return post boycott. It's very sad.
Without doubt our support in Hyndburn has dwindled. Thanks Venky's
Boycotting is a personal choice but I never expected Venky's to last this long. I don't watch Stanley and I could never change allegiance. I'll be back the minute Venky's are gone and I'm longing for that day to come.

Quite a few boycotters who go the Stanley for a football fix but will be back at Ewood when Venky's depart.

Yeah and as it stands those 4 clubs and a few others have worse squads than Ours in my opinion.
Sure all this was being said last summer too, that we would go down with the squad we had.
Second half of last season we were probably the worst team in the league Bottom of the form table. We have since lost a number of key players.
There is a hell of a lot of work to do and needs to be done quickly.

Broughton and Tomasson are the two most qualified appointments we've made during the Venky's reign of terror.
I really hope Broughton is successful but I don't think he is particularly well qualified for his current role after working mainly in youth football at smaller clubs. He is an unknown quantity and has a steep learning curve - especially with Venky's in mind.
I think Paul Senior had more experience and that didn't exactly work out.

Just a case of budgets….Sheffield United still receiving parachute payments and fill their ground every week!!
Our budget is £16m, wouldn’t be surprised if theirs is 4x or more! Interesting, I heard the PNE have cut theirs from £18m to £12m this season…finances tight outside of the parachute clubs!
I don't understand this general meek acceptance that we can't compete with other championship clubs.
Where there's a will there's a way. Jack Walker would have found a way.
If we are truly limited by FFP ( I don't think we are ) then why are we wasting our time chasing highly paid players if we know we can't afford them ?
Maybe we should have appointed Ainsworth ( cheaper ) and let him bring in some grafters from the lower leagues if that is the market we are in.

They don’t need to go back to Venkys. The budget is set and Suhail (their nominated representative in the Uk) signs everything off.
It was he (not ‘them’) who declined Mowbrays plan to sell JR to Bournemouth and sign Wallace, Dembele etc in Jan.
Not sure about that. Mowbray always referred to Suhail as the owners conduit. Why would he use such a word if he is actually the decision maker?
Out of interest, if Suhail did make the decision do you know his reasoning?
To use your terminology, 'He' is effectively one of 'Them' in the grand scheme of things. What role will he play now GB is in position ?

fuck me we're going to struggle with GB having to go to the incompetent SW every time
And then Waggott has to refer to Pune even if he agrees with GB's proposals. Balaji then requests a meeting with Madam D. who has no idea what he is talking about.
Another club then snap up the player in question.
Start again...

Absolutely no idea what your beef with Gary Smith is and playing devil's advocate we are possibly seeing signs of the good things certain people were promised 18 months or so ago
18 months ago nobody knew that Mowbray would have a melt down. I am sure he would still be in situ if he had kept quiet and popped over to India this summer.
So the potentially positive move of appointing a new manager was done out of necessity.
I don't see too many other 'signs of good things'. To me, insisting that the existing coaching staff were retained and poorly thought out ticketing prices indicate that nothing much has changed. Venky's are still in charge remember.

The point Steve was making there was that he would not be able to mail many previous ST orders because the club don’t have permission to contact them due to the GDPR rules.
Please inform Steve Waggott:
The GDPR rules do not apply in the UK after the end of the Brexit transition period on 31 December 2020.

Just a bit of info I picked up regaridng Neil Critchley.
Apparently he was getting itchy feet at Blackpool for one reason or another. He made his feelings known and Blackpool said they would not stand in his way if he wanted to move on. So he was 'unoffically available'.
Rovers approached Critchley and talks were held at quite an early stage in our managerial recruitment process. More talks were planned but Critchley decided he didn't want to follow up his initial interest in the job.
The Villa Job was not on the table at that point but he may have had some insight that it was a possibility - who knows?

He said in the same interview, on several occasions that they want us to be a “self sustainable Premier League club” (The vision). He also referred to us needing to “overachieve” which I agree with based on our income generation and available budget inline with ffp.
The plan seems plausible based on Broughton’s interview. The big question is will he have the autonomy and power to execute it?
And the experience, contacts, skills and ability?
It's a big jump from Acadamy coach in the Norwegian league to DOF at Blackburn Rovers.

I don't doubt your info at all but how is it possible for the focus of their attentions to be changing on a daily basis ?
I know the whole process is taking a long time but the names in frame over the last week or so have been changing with the wind. It doesn't seem possible that a rigorous process is being followed if targets are identified, interviewed and dismissed ( or proven unattainable ) in such a short time span - especially if everything needs to go through Pune as we know it does.
And all the while, Ainsworth ( a reasonably popular choice amongst the fans ?) is available, willing and able but Venky's don't like him!
I am convinced they are waiting for Mowbray's contract to expire before making an appointment.

So we have a fans forum which is the vehicle through which fans can put their questions to the CEO.
Rovers have a website and twitter account that they can use for reaching out to the fans and reporting news.
The club is supposed to have regular fans consultation meetings to facilitate fan engagement but they don't bother.
The CEO can talk to the local paper and radio staion whenever he likes in order to keep the fans up to date.
But no, we all have to queue up and make individual appointments to ask questions of the CEO who could give a different answer each time. What a rediculous concept. Waggott should be bending over backwards to keep the fans informed rather than the other way around.
