So why watch him then? Sounds like Nixon is pretending to know more than he does. -

Whatever about Brereton, I think people are being very harsh lumping Gallagher into the same category. -

Maybe he spotted a couple in Iceland It looks like it will be down to the wire with the old transfers again. I reckon anywhere from 1-3 with a chance that we might not even make a signing. -

Talk about hyperbole. No we haven't been in the play offs, but we are close. You make it sound like we are miles away. Is it totally wishful thinking that Millwall or Bristol city get into the play offs? Because they are 4 points ahead of us, not 40. -

You have a unique knack of disagreeing with practically every post, even ones where people agree with you. Are you like that in real life? When you say you wouldn't expect players to rush through deals ,family security yada yada, I would agree except for the fact they are footballers. So actually moving earlier and playing football for the next 6 months would benefit their careers in the long run. -

Ya,but it's worth waiting til the window closes to see if we can get a better deal. Mutual termination only saves peanuts. -

You know the way Mowbray has always let guys get the best move for themselves, like say when he let Ward go on loan for the last 6 months if his contract,Paul Downing too? It's what he does. Well I was thinking , do the players not owe the club the same? I mean should Samuel and Smallwood not take paycuys to go and free up some wages here? Particularly as things are tight. It seems the treating players fairly and as human beings is a one way street. Maybe that's a bit harsh and I don't know what offers are there, but I agree we do need to move players on who won't feature. -

Money was obviously a big part. I am sure he backed himself , but realistically he wasn't getting into their first team. So turning down consistent League 1 football tounder 23s, not sure it's that much of a no-brainer. If he was confident about getting into the Bournemouth team, surely he would have been confident about getting into ours? -

I think I have given a concrete example, of a player we all know well, which shows that's not always the case. -

I remember him being linked to Juve and AC Milan whilst at Newcastle. I agree he wasn't the same player. He chose Newcastle over United because he supported them. He stuck with them, too his detriment, for the same reason. -

He said himself he was offered more money by United. United came 2nd in 94/95 , Newcastle came 6th. In 95/96 before he signed United had won the league. So I think it would have been safe enough to assume United would win more. They were clearly the bigger club. He chose Newcastle because he supported them. Your initial post said the following "Supporting a club goes out of the window when you become a pro unfortunately, I don't see how some can't grasp that." I have given you a number of concrete examples of that not always being the case. You are now asking me for an example of someone in League 1 turning down top flight offers. It's a separate question. -

Well that's hypothetical. In reality not only did he join Newcastle over a club who offered more money and more opportunities to win trophies because he supported them, he also stayed with them long-term. No doubt he had opportunities to leave. -

Ya but he picked them over United where he would have gotten more money and the opportunity to win even more. I responded to the post saying that once you become a pro, who you support goes out the window. I gave the example of Shearer and I think it stands up for the reasons I just gave. -

100%. They are doing many things I feared they would do. I played a bit of the FF7 remaster last night. I'm just at the section early enough on when you get into Shinra tower looking for Aeris. One thing I noticed was that the dialogue was humerous at times, particularly Barrett. Kind of kookie. I think that is going to be gone. I wanted it to be closer to the original FF7 than to FF15. I fear it will more closely resemble the latter in gameplay and tone. -

Well that's it, it was a financial choice over helping the club he supports get back to the Championship. Not a huge fan I would wager.
