  1. Pre season and last night have proved that we can forget any formation changes. Its 4231 again this season

    His starting 11 will be

                     Walton

    Bennet Tosin Williams Bell

             Travis Johnson

    Armstrong Dack Gallagher

                  Graham

  2. Last season it was when will he let rothwell off the leash.

I think the mantra for this year, is when will he finally let this entire team off the leash.

So much to like about the options we have, yet it seems like we will never see the best of them together in a system that suits everyone

  3. There must be some sort of tax relief somehwere. Or some clever accounting where they move money around the group.

Becasue whatever we think of them they seem happy at this current level or debt servicing.

They keep funding mowbrays signings. There seems no attempt to reduce outgoings to match incomings 1:1

Cunningham will hardly be playing centre half

I think if you look at the teams that have most success with 3 at the back, they tend to play full backs in the wider roles of the 3

But they have to be the right type of full back. TBH I havent seen cinningham play much, so dont know what type of player he is.

Just know he will get game time here and he doesnt seem a wing back from peoples description of him, so who knows

  5. I think he goes 3 at the back

                            Walton

                 Nyambe tosin Cunningham

    JRC                                                 Downing

               Evans  Buckley  Smallwood

                   Gallagher  Bereton

  6. I always think if we played 3 at the back I could understand all his signings. But we dont, which leaves me scratching my head what he's thinking.

I always think he wants to play 3 at the back, but cant seem to pull the trigger on it.

The squad is set now, so I guess this oldham game will answer if he has any intention of doing it this season or not

It is a big season for Williams. He will be trying to stake his claim to be a first choice center half here. It's best bet for his international career also. He's not a super left back, but hopefully the experience of playing there will stand to him. Big, big season for him.

Agreed. But you could say that for the majority of the starting 11. A lot of young, hungry players with a chance to shine.

Walton - After this year he will have 1 year left at Brighton. If he has any aspirations of Premier league football, then he needs to shine

Tosin - Huge chance for him at CB to shine to pep and put himself in the frame for the next step

Cunnigham - a season in the wilderness. He will be chomping at the bit you'd think to play every week and get back in the intenational mix and rebuild his reputation

Travis - huge season to kick on a prove he is the player we all hope he can be

Rothwell - needs to stop snapchatting Tony daughters then he can get in the team and show us all what we know he has

Dack - For all his success, nobody is banging down the door to take him to the next level. Lets hope he has the fire to kick on

Gallagher - After being loaned about everywhere, he now has a permanent home and has to now show everyone what he is all about

Brereton - After a good pre season, he needs to wait for his chance and prove everyone wrong and show the class that has led to him respresenting eng at all youth levels

Graham - Bit different with him, but after being POY he has young lads trying to steal his place. Anything other than excellent and he is going to fizzle out

Some others to a lesser degree like chapman, JRC etc on the edges of the team will need to excel and force their way into the mix.

Despite the noise around the transfer window, there is a lot to like and look forward to with this team. Its arguably what makes to defeence situation so frustrating.

Its now over to TM to get the best out of all these guys and light a fire under them all

  8. Hard to tell really without seeing their standing in the dressing room and how they carry themselves behind scenes around the club.

Personally I think travis ticks all the boxes and would be a bold dynamic choice, but without knowing him it may be to soon for him

  9. You dont want to be starting williams at CB for a whole season, but he is good enough at this level to play pockets of games when injuries and suspensions dictate it. I always think defending is more a mindset than ability at times and he seems to have that defenders mindset. Whereas you look at bell and nyambe who are absolute athletes with a ton of abilty, but completley lack the mindset of a defender for me

I can't see beyond him being told he wouldn't be first choice and not liking it. To happen so late in the day definitely confirms it wasn't planned.

What do you mean by social media ban? As for the plaudits, I think there isn't generally an official goodbye when a player leaves on loan...

It is a pity he didnt stick around and contribute to the squad, but I think even that alone shows he wasn't the right captain if he wan't prepared to put his ego aside.

The wigan fans I know are all convinced he will be backup for them and not a starter.

Which makes me thinks there has been a fallout, or this is about getting his wages out the door
