I don't see how it can go from, "we'll hope to have two coming in tomorrow", to now Sharpe saying, "hopefully we'll know more next week.
Mowbray keeps saying things and promising things he shouldn't. Started at that meeting at Ewood when he said "new defenders are coming" and we've yet to sign a single one.
To be fair I think Sharpe said that before Mowbray said 2 will be coming today. But still it doesnt look like 2 will be signing today unless the fax machine is broke again and someone manages to fix it quick

Some Burnley fan somewhere is generating some rumours and is sat back in absolute stitches at folk losing their minds on here over daft rumours

Great news re Travis. If anyone deserved a new deal it was him. Been impressive since finally cracking the starting 11

The word experience gets used a lot on here of late. I dont care if the CB or GK is experinced, I just want them to be good and better than what we have now.
Its that simple really. Improve the team.
Apart from Graham, all our experinced players where pretty poor last year and we spent a season crying out for youth.

Nuttall set to go out on loan, Accy back in for him.
Billy Kee hasn't reported back for pre-season for personal reasons so he would probably be Stanley's main striker.
I think he'd do well there.
I think that would be a good move for all parties. Fingers crossed

You have to realise that everything TM says isnt for the fans ears. Some of it is smoke and mirrors imo for other ears. Like sometimes its like he is talking to the owners through the press.#
Other times it will be a game of poker trying to push a deal through hinting we have no money etc.
Then its trying to squeeze extra cash out of another club by hinting we have a good budget and dont need to sell etc.
Im not saying his isnt changing his mind from time to time, but to think everything he says is for us is a bit short sighted

He was let go becasue we were offered good money and TM thought we could do better.
Wether we do better only time will tell, but personally I think all the keepers we have been linked with are better than raya

Buying would make most sense. I think all things considered it would be one of the better options after Forster. A better and more direct replacement for Raya.
Im inclined to agree. Watched quite a lot of Wigan games and he always impressed.
At this stage he isnt as good as hart and forster, but his wages and the finaces involved will reflect that and be far more inline with our structure

If Nicko is right it won't be a long term option because it's a loan.
If it happens and its always a big if when we are trusting Nixon, I cant imagine TM taking him on loan unless its a loan to buy option also

Walton makes sense and seems to represent our recent transfer plan.Young, english, played for england at all youth levels.
He is also a fair unit and a lot more commanding of his area than Raya
For whats is worth Wigan have had carson and walton and the wigan fans I speak to would all rather have Walton.
He was a lot better than Raya in League one and would surely have been in the team of the year ahead of Raya if loan players werent banned from the vote for some reason.
Not the sexy name after all the specualtion, but really taking finance, age etc in the the equation,he could be the best long term option of the lot

I think people use a forum to vent. When the wife and kids dont listen and dont care what you gunna do :). It can get annoying at times, but without different types there would be no discussion. If everyone was happy there would be one post a day saying we are awesome and everyone would just like it and log off

Everyone is a different character and has their own opinion. However i think in general, forums have a larger collection of glass half empty types than the average of a fan base

The modern fan has a championship manager approach to everything where you just buy buy buy to improve. Improvement can often come within with good coaching and players improving. Its not the sexy approach but why employ coaches etc if thats not the aim. A few players improve a bit and a young player or 2 steps up and you can improve a hell of a lot and not spend a penny

The difference between success and failure is so small at times. I to dont think we are to far away from the top 6 with a signing or 2 and a bit of luck.
But likewise i dont think we are to far away from a relegation scrap with some poor signings and bad luck

West Brom fans are pretty insistent that he is not a competent right back. If we neglect this really poor area of our team then it will cost us points, undoubtedly.
Listen to our fans and all our players are not competent
Lets see if he signs, then give him a chance

Or it could be a 433 without a Target man so that they are interchangeable (like Liverpool). This is perfectly feasible so long as you aren’t going direct into the likes of DG which is what Mowbray spoke about.
The only question about 433 is how does it suit Dack? Other than that, I like it.
I think it suits Dack bigtime. He is good enough to play any of the 3 and chage about at will.
The question is how would it suit DG. He doesnt have the legs or pace to drift out wide and interchange much

Could be Karl Darlow and the delay was newcastle getting a manager first

Baffling to me that some are happy for us to essentially wait until the deadline to get players in, giving them no time to bed into the squad or have any kind of pre-season getting them used to their team mates and how we set up. Just throw them in the deep end and hope for the best.
I dont think anyone is happy with that approach, but its what happens to everyone except the super rich with transfer windows. Most of the time a ll relevant parties are holding about believing they can get better or more and so on it gos until the deadline arrives and people are forced to react and make a decision
Its not ideal, but this is modern football

1 centre half and a new goalie worked out quite well for liverpool. Get the right players and they also improve the players around them

Carson also got dropped he mustn’t be a steady performing keeper either.
To be fair he was Derbys player of the year the 2 years before Lampard arrived, so it depends which way you look at it.
We are not a pull for players, not even in this league, so anybody we sign is going to have some slight question marks over them

Just now, JacknOry said:
Also, back to the keeper. Surely we would have to be waiting on Carson to be replaced at Derby, they have nobody of note behind him.
He wasnt the starter at Derby last year. Lost his place under lampard as he wanted a sweeper keeper style keeper and he didnt think carson could play that role

Scott Carson, Scott Dann permanent and a full back on loan from a PL club I reckon

There's a saying that goes something like "good men plant trees that they will never sit under"...………...or summat like that ?
Quite an apt saying in this instance. Shows what a good egg TM is that he is laying plans for the long term benefit of this club

There is real compettition for places in certain areas now which is what you want.
You need to perform and perform every week or you will lose your place

I think if Mulgrew plays in a 3 then he has to be central. The wide centre halves can get exposed and left 1 on 1 a bit in that system.
He doesnt have the legs for that spot for me anymore.
