I think Tosin and Lenihan could be a real dominating force at the back personally.

I think we can forget any new CB's arriving. Lenihan, Tosin, Williams, Mulgrew plus the kids is plenty. We can argue the quality, but we arent going to bring more numbers into that position unless we ship someone out. The issue if we strike gold and tosin and Lenihan is a success is full backs. We badly need at least 1 starting full back, but really need 2

  2. I have always been a TM fan. Always believed he was working towards something and a plan but couldnt set the ball rolling last year as he was a peice or 2 missing and didnt want to change in the season. His singings seemed strange and not that well thought out, but gave him the benefit of the doubt and backed him. I believed this season he would unveil some tactical evoloution of this team and it would all seem clearer and a lot would have to eat their words.

Then the charlton game happened and its clear he has no real plan, this team isnt evolving, he has no long term vision, his transfer dealings are a bit mental and without much thought. Im also now certain he has taken us as far as he can take us. His treatment of Rothwell alone convinces me he has lost the plot, but add in everything else and it pains me to say its time to go. I just hope im wrong and that 1st game is a massive wake up call to him and he does a big 180 turn in coming days

I can take a bad result like Saturday's on the chin because bad results can happen at any time to even the best teams but Mowbray has lost an awful lot of Brownie points by not strengthening the defence, and it is this failure more than anything that I think fans find most frustrating.

I can forgive the defence and give him the benefit of the doubt that he is trying and the window is still open. Its the Rothwell snub that has me fuming the most :(

Think it's both good and bad. If Rothwell doesn't play, then that's the wrong call, but in fairness it's been a long time since we've had the options there that a call like that can be semi-justified, which it can be with the curren squad.

I think whatever team he picks a some will be unhappy. Hardly anyone has the same lineup in here, which does show the options we have.

The only thing that really matters is that by 5pm sat we are sat there with 3 points :)

  5. Listening to Pep and the city fans talk about this kid, it sounds like this is a big year for him and if succesfull could put him on the fringes of the city first team squad

Explains why the lad may be keen to ensure its the right move for him and also means we will get a really hungry player who will be busting to impress and take the next step.

Shame that Chapman doesn’t seem to be involved with the first team friendlies, doesn’t make too much sense to me, he was near fitness at the end of the season and had a full pre season, is he just broken?

Agreed. I think TM sees him as an impact sub. Its up to him to stay fit and take the chances he gets off the bench to force his way in. Which i think he will if he stays fit

Playing devils advocate a little, but didn’t we have the 5th best defence in the league at home. Better than Norwich and Villa?

Granted away it was very poor and needs addressing but is it really as bad as some are making out?

    Tin hat time :)

It is a really strange stat though when you think about it

Ya, it should't really, but some of the refs are crap and he will have it put up to him more from a physical standpoint than he has under age. Dack gets fouled a lot, but he is a robust little fecker.

Small person syndrome. They are all little s houses on the sly :)

Worryingly suggests that, as I suspected, TM does not consider LB a priority and is happy with Bell/Williams in that position. I think this is going to be a very weak link for us in the coming season. It's possible that Bell will improve, and I hope he does, but Williams simply isn't good enough to play LB in a team that's genuinely aiming for the top six. He showed far more capability at CB in his brief appearances last season than he ever has at LB, imo.

Silver lining and all that he makes no mention of Downing as a left back. So we can put that one to bed
