He's the only manager of the last 10 years that's taken our involvement in the play-off race to the last game of the season.
I hate this framing. This framing implies we've fought for where we are. The actual facts are, since they first started talking about "cup finals" and "big games" at the FA cup QF, we have won ZERO games. A SINGLE win in any of those and we're probably in the play-offs. Yet again we had a massive advantage and completely and totally bottled it.
Instead, we have to watch this turgid, lethargic, tippy tappy football with absolutely no urgency to suggest that we actually want promotion. Taking the table out of context completely distorts what has actually happened.

As expected - bottled it but not quite enough to just get it over with. Not a chance this lot take points at Millwall next week.
Every single game that they talk up as a massive game we fail to win, because this team has no leaders, and not winners.

What's the betting we draw and bottle it when there's a chance at the weekend?

Imagine serving this drivel again and again at the business end of the season and then complaining that no one wants to pay over the odds for a season ticket.

Any players that were here last year AND this year for the total and utter collapses need punting immediately.

A manager who would rather play pretty football than effective football and it's screwed our season. Honestly won't lose sleep if he goes elsewhere in the summer.

Another half with no goals. I appreciate we don't have a striker but this "new improved" brand of football seems to have removed our ability to grind out narrow wins.
Hope we can nick it in the second half but we absolutely don't deserve playoffs based on the last 6 weeks.

One thing I will say, is whoever on the media side of things who keeps highlighting the players saying all these games are "cup finals" needs to stop. I'm actually sick of hearing it now. We've heard it since coming out of the international break between every game - we've won zero and it's starting to grate a bit.

I'm not sure where this idea of Luton being on the beach has come from as they're significantly more potent than we are and just beat Boro. They're one of the form teams in this league! Add to that the fact that we always struggle against them and I just don't see where a resukt comes from - the away fixture was one of the biggest wastes of money I've ever spent.
At the end of the day, we came into the month with 9(?) "cup finals", and literally winning even one would have had destiny in our hands, but they've bottled it completely (yes, January is partly to blame but winning none of that run of fixtures is still abysmal). We don't create anything and this team doesn't scrap.

Ah, they COULD have gone up another gear, but didn't at any point in the 90 minutes.
And yet still scored and conceded none, the bare minimum required to win a game of football.

You are confusing better team with winning team. They scored and won but we were the better team.
If you couldn't see that you should give up.
And I'm sure they would trade in their title for our zero goals and our "better team" blue peter badge.
Only one thing is important, and losing well isn't it.

Don’t overstate how significant tonight’s result is for Burnley. Winning one of the lower leagues is not particularly meaningful. Getting promoted is the big achievement. Whether you win the league or finish 6th and win the play-offs, it’s pretty irrelevant.
Putting a thoroughly depressing and unlucky week aside, we are a striker or 2 short of a really decent team now. Intensity and style of play has come on leaps and bounds since the defeat at Turf moor and the defeats to PNE and Rotherham!I disagree. Much like our 5-0 win in 2002, this moment will be replayed for decades by them. Also bear in mind that in addition to winning the title, they have also more than likely ended any hope of the play-offs for us, and I believe that mark ten years without even a GOAL against them. The title itself was never important, but the location was vital.
They will get the riches of the premier league again whilst we will continue to sit in relative squalor and the gap will widen. It will take a complete miracle of a season for us to close that gap now.

Yes let’s throw out all of the good work and get a Gary Megson in. Smart.
A bit of a pointless comment considering Megson didn't get results either.
But if you're happy to continue watching us do sweet FA game after game, get consistently embarrassed by our bitterest rivals etc then be my guest.
Not a chance Venky's back JDT with anywhere near enough to make this football work at the level we need it to.

Got to take the positives, because the alternative is therapy.
If we can keep JDT, the squad we’ve got, add some forwards and a little experience in the middle… we can piss this league.
The improvement is enormous.
Stings like a bitch though.
Is it? I keep hearing that word "improvement" but if you're playing "well" but not creating chances/picking up points consistently, you're not playing well.
Give me Big Sam's football with actual results any day of the week.

We would be better off with Bournemouth going down than Leeds ..
Nah, Bournemouth are much more likely to just throw money at everything that moves like they did last time.

JDT has already said we'll be fishing in the freebies market this summer. I have a sinking feeling we've just blown it and the gap between us and them is just going to get wider and wider. If teams like Everton and Leicester drop down you can forget going up next year.

Don't know how we can go on and win our last 2 games now, but if we can then we deserve promotion.
On what basis? We've lost more games than anyone around this part of the league and have an appalling goal difference. There are arguably few teams less deserving at this point.

And with that the season is done. We may be playing "prettier" football but without a striker it is completely ineffective and has seen us blow yet another good opportunity. Broughton should be out of a job.

A point puts us back in the top 6
Yeah but 3 gives us more room for error in the final 2 games, and more importantly ends that lot's unbeaten run against us.

As someone who is just checking the halftime score and hasn't watched, it's amazing watching so many different players being elected as "scapegoat of the half" 😅

Won't be able to watch but I hope at the very least we give a good account of ourselves tonight and at the very least go down fighting.
There absolute cannot be a repeat of the performance in the reverse fixture as I don't think a lot of fans would ever trust this group in a big game again.

Burnley have typically come unstuck against teams that play less football and aren't scared about staying defensively resolute for long periods.
That isn't us - we'll just have to pray they don't turn up and I just don't see it. Even my heart says 2-0 Dingles, title goes to them and our play-off bid again finishes in an utter shambles.

Possibly, but I think this will be the third time they’ve gone up whilst we flounder around under the guise of a “project”.
And every time they do the financial gap becomes bigger and bigger. The only way of closing that gap is by getting promoted but the board/owners seem to have no ambition to do so.

Biggest mistake Venky's made in the last 10 years is not getting Warnock through the door. It wouldn't have been pretty but I bet we'd have made the playoffs.
