I thought he got caught on his line. He was nearly saving it over the goal line. I’d want my keeper to be more decisive there. When I played any ball in the air in the 6 yard box was the keepers responsibility.

Totally agree. The biggest mistake was not coming for the ball with the 2 previous opportunities. Having said that. For the actual header, he should've used his feet. Christ, he could've trapped it!

I'll still cut him some slack as all keepers make mistakes & it didn't seem to affect him which is the main thing.

I have a theory about bright kits, that they make it easier for the opposition to play against you, as your movement is more easily tracked due to the light colour, which makes for more reliable assessment of where you and the ball are heading.

We battered them in black at the end of last season. Not sure we will have the same outcome this evening, with our hi-viz safety kit on.

    Anyway, feck it - COYB!!

Didn't we wear red end of last season?

  3. I used to work for a consultancy firm owned by Gary Neville around 2008/9 (King Associates) and it was around the time that the house was being completed. I've actually been to the house a few times. Whether Venkys still own it or anyone else does/resides there, I've no idea.

What I do know is, it's at Top of Th Knotts in Bolton and definitely did not have gold taps! 😆

The building at the top of the photo also forms part of the estate. This is, what was, the housekeeper's cottage - Gary & Emma lived in this whilst the main house was being completed.

  4. Offer him a "pay as you play" deal. He's currently earning nothing & wants to prove himself, if he's a crock, it costs us nothing. Surely got to be worth a phone call (not that it will happen). Someone of his ability & experience could rip up this league & prove a very valuable member of the dressing room..

On a side note, I didn't realise he was only 32, seems to have been around for ages!

He was unlucky with that shot, he has some nous about him that others like Dolan seem to lack currently.

He's pretty lightweight though, quite easy to knock off the ball if the opposition have any physicality.

Sat on the Riverside last night and it was noticeable that he stayed fairly central and didn't pull out wide to offer something for us.

I thought when Leonard went off we suddenly lost a lot of running down the channels and movement in general.

Agree with that. He seems to want to come centrally. A few times last night I noticed him & Semir making the same runs leaving us with less options.

The bar at the back of the Blackburn end has four beer pumps, but on Saturday only had one person serving. Total incompetence.

The bar in the BBE nearest the Riverside had 4 queues and 3 people serving!

To add to this, they've introduced 'Pie, Mash, Peas & Gravy' (I'm not even getting started with the £7.50 asking price!) which then takes each person serving around a minute to do as they get the pie from the warmer, grab a tray, spoon in the mash, spoon in the peas, take the pie out of it's wrapper, put it in the tray, put the wrapper in the bin, ladle on the gravy and then sprinkle with parsley! (fuckin' parsley!!!!).

I nearly lost my shit before the game as people kept on ordering this and then to top it all off, the guy in front of me said "oh, and 2 teas please" and I then had to watch on again as the hot water thingy dribbled hot water into the cups at a rate of 1 litre per month! What happened to a good old tea urn?

  7. Excellent result. Superb goal from Hedges. I'm a happy camper!

Loved the fact JDT used his interview on Sky to repeat what he said the other day. IMO it was him making sure the owners heard it - can imagine his thinking, they might not catch up online with BBC lancs, but there's a bloody good chance they'll be watching Sky!

He also made me chuckle with his quip about it being nearly bedtime for half of the team! (ie i need some experienced players!) 😅

  8. Well folks, I'm proud to announce that I'm not a virgin anymore.

Tonight I have been penetrated with John Bull's meaty goodness! 😅

My daughter's team had a pre-season friendly at Blacksnape, KO 6:45. Hmm, I thought. Perhaps a detour to Holly Tree Chippy on the way is in order here. So that's exactly what we did (me & the missus that is).

    Damn fine they were too!

  9. Wasn't sure where to put this, but as it's related to Chelsea's new goalkeeper I'll put it here.

This really wound me up when I've just read it:

25 Apps for Liverpool, 50 for Spurs!

288 for Rovers. Hell, he even made 114 for Villa. Do Sky even know about any clubs other than the 'Big 6'?

    Top of the Pops.

    1)   Tizer

    2)   Dandelion and Burdock

    3)   Sarsaparilla  (from the stall on Blackburn market)

I always used to love this - didn't last too long ('82 - '89 apparently) so I must've been one of a minority that did. To me it was an improvement on Lilt (which is now re-branded as Fanta something or other)

These are still one of my all time favourites. They’re also quite reasonably priced in Home Bargains and the like.

Woah! What the hell have they done to the packaging? Where's the inner bog roll cardboard tube wrapped in paper with the liquorice sticking out?

    image.jpeg

I'm sorry but the kids of today have no idea what we had to go through trying to eat one - soggy paper, sherbet sticking to it. You've run out of liquorice, so you try to get the bit at the bottom by licking your finger, then you realise your finger won't reach to the bottom so you put the open end of the tube up to your mouth and tap the other end. Nothing comes out so you tap a bit harder.

Now, at this point one of two things happens depending on how you've positioned your mouth as there was always more left in than you imagined - either you end up with a face full of sherbet and eyes stinging like a bitch, or if you go for the "full gob open over the tube" approach, you suddenly end up looking like a rabid dog as it all fizzes up in your mouth with a bit of the ripped soggy paper stuck to your lip.

Anyone else, or just me? 😆
