  1. For me he has been pretty good this season till his injury, but has looked well off it since hes been back. Lethargic, poor body language, too many touches and unnecessary risks. If I could swap him for a fit Gudjohnson (who i dont particularly rate but would at least balance the attack) I would.
  2. To get a point from this position would be a real achievement in the context of how we have handled going behind over the last 5 years. And thats without the complete lack of any attacking quality. Probably need to think of something quite radical. With the terrible options we have we probably need to put Cantwell further up. Maybe go 4231 and put Cantwell at 10, TGH at DM, and give one of the young lads a go at winger. Not inspiring.
  3. Yeah - I think Dennis, Woodrow etc teaches us we are much better to get someone hungry as opposed to players who have completely checked out. Id go for someone with a good scoring record in a lower division than a poor scoring record in a higher one.
  4. I suppose Pratt and Litherland have hugely exceeded expectations, so the same logic applied to O'Riordan. I know this is a logical fallacy, but then again if you phrased the question as "who would perform better out of O'Riordan or veteran/unknown overseas recruit" its a very hard one to call. I suppose we can recall him Jan 1st and see how he does.
  5. Agreed... We seem to have completely fluked it with Pratt and Litherland, and after those two Id be prepared to give Powell a crack if Hedges is injured. Lets throw all the money at strikers as that is what we desperately need.
  6. The quality in this game has been really remarkably low. Wednesday have offered such little resistance and keep giving us the ball. But we just give it back.
  7. Cantwell has done some nice touches but terrible shooting and final ball.
  8. Hes superb at what he does (relentlessly press). But if you take that away he seems a bit lost. I think we have to give one of the young lads a go.
  9. Ohashi is such an off the ball pressing player. In a game like this where the opposition just let us have the ball he is all at sea.
  10. Henricksson has looked okay to me.
  11. We should be ahead but for some poor finishing from Ohashi and Cantwell. Weve been completely on top, just more of the same should see us win.... Really incredible how poor our bench is. Doherty is supposed to be a striker - any info anyone has on him? Any good?
  12. Totally agree with this... TBH Tavares and De Neve aside I think the signings have been okay for the very little money we can afford. Henricksson I am on the fence on as not seen enough. The issue is more that we sell established experienced players for nothing or very little. It would not be beyond our wit to find a way to keep them without spending more money if we had engaged owners who could plan more than a few months ahead. Also we would be able to sell them for more money if needed imo.
  13. Vals pretty old school - likes Litherland and Pratt as they are physically robust, but I imagine Tyjon he thinks is way too lightweight and will get bullied. I imagine he likes Diamini because he is more physical.
  14. Intrigued by how Henricksson does. Works really hard, very physical, just seems slightly behind the play hence all the fouls. But he could suit a front two, who knows, didn't really have enough time to form an opinion last week. Gudjonsen is so invisible off the ball that I expect us to actually improve in terms of pressing and competing with Henricksson. But Gudjonsen can finish and when he does (rarely) win the ball in the air he is generally pretty good at finding a rovers shirt. Will be interesting how Henricksson links up.
  15. Ohashi makes the whole system work, the ground he covers relentlessly and the way he is always fit is really remarkable. That we can play two forwards and two attacking mids is down to his pressing and physicality Take him out and I think we would be quickly back to the drawing board.
  16. Well we have signed a few (Ohashi, Gudjonsen, Tronstad, Toth, Alebiouso, Mori). But rarely (never?) in January to be fair
  17. We really need cover for Tronstad and Ohashi. I guess getting someone in for Tronstad will be tricky though as the hierarchy will point to Tavares and TGH and say they should be used. Which is annoying as Tavares is lazy and lacks awareness, and TGH is not technical enough to play that deeper role though okay more box to box. But theres no argument not to sign one or two hardworking strikers to give Ohashi and Gudjonsen some support.
  18. Part of me does wonder how Leonard would do in Gudjonson's role. The 352 really helps a non physical striker, and Leonard never got the luxury of playing in a two unfortunately. Id we were still in 4231 i think Gudjonsen would really struggle.
  19. Well we have pulled Pratt and Litherland out of the hat and they have performed really well. We need someone to cover Tronstad and someone for Ohashi. No idea about who could shadow Tronstad (a very very hard role) but whats the deal with Diamini? Does he have a bit of the Ohashi about him?
  20. Or could be that you under estimate the quality of our players?
  21. Yeah looks mobile with real quality.
  22. Nice bit of forward play from Henricksson...
  23. I think Hericksson has been told to push up and play alongside. No idea if he has ever played as a striker.
  24. Triple change seems a bit radical ... I guess idea is Henricksson to press for Gudjonsen. Interested to see how that goes. We have so few options up top we need it to work. Surprised it's Mori for Baradji, as Cantwell looks knackered but fair enough. Hedges for Pickering is right call.
